El Charro [Eugene Location] - thats exactly what they did to the beef in my friends meal the other night - he ordered medium rare, but it was cooked until it was "El Charrod" [all black and crispy outside]. My other friend - who told us what a good meal he had a few days earlier - ordered the Mexican Fiesta dinner to get a little of everything as the menu describes, but unfortunately overlooked the a little part - only getting three lonely little shrimp and one slice of mushroom swimming in a pool of sauce [the menu picture displays a bunch] next to a piece of chicken more akin to something to tread your shoe. Among the group, no ones meal rose above mediocre. Then we discovered the almost-centimeter-big whitish mold spot in the green pepper they roasted and served to us. Did I mention the service? I meant almost complete lack of service - ignored for long periods of time, never got anything to drink at the bar while we waited, had to look for staff several times for service. We started taking bets on how long and how many requests would/would not be met. Making my experience just a little more special, I originaly wrote this review the next morning in between my frequent trips to the bathroom. But their paint colors are bright and their bathrooms are clean. I LOVE Mexican food. I love cooking it. I love eating it. I could eat good Mexican food several days a week. I definitely did NOT love El Charro. Now excuse me, I have to run(s) .........

This was horrible. My friend and I came here today there was no one in the place and it took 10 min. To be seated it was late afternoon and the guy that came out of the kitchen was very rude. We finally ordered and it was a small order I got two tacos that were so watery that when I picked up the first one it was just a soggy mess very unsavory. Asked for the check and yes I paid but needed a receipt. I actually had to walk into the kitchen to ask the waiter cook to print it out for me he was angry and seemed put out. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Do NOT waste your time because I felt like I was wasting thiers. I work in the service industry and have never been so disappointed.....

The food is good, although inconsistent. One of the servers should change careers. He is the worst. We went in on a Friday night at 9:00pm. The server asked us 4 times within 10 minutes if we were ready to order. We hadnt even taken our jackets off when he was breathing down our necks. We asked if he was in a hurry. He told us the kitchen closed at 9:30 even though the restaurant didnt close until 10:00. We asked for his name and called the owner to report him. We found out that the server had given us a fake name! The owner, Jose was great. He apologized profusely and assured us he would talk to his staff. He invited us back to meet him and have a meal on the house.

This is a great authentic Mexican place. They have some cheaper options for lighter fare, fantastic nachos, and free tortilla chips and salsa while you wait to order. The waiter might seem in a rush or pushy, but we always have good service. Liable to speak to you in Spanish though! I think it adds to the charm. I love the decorations and atmosphere. It is never too busy or noisy. They have some great desserts including deep fried ice cream and churros, as well as some American-inspired desserts like Manzana Chimi (think apple pie but instead of an American crust, its wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep fried, chimichanga style) and cheesecake chimichanga.

Have been there before many times and wasnt bad food or service, but took my wife and two others there yesterday 9-13-2015 for dinner and the experience was less than pleasant. The food was top notch etc, however the server was a complete and total jerk, had I not been in the company I was it would have taken a very bad turn. If you dont want "white people" as "he" put it, in your restaurant just put a sign on the door. I wont be back, and bad news travels fast.

Went there on a Monday early afternoon, and I was the only person in the restaraunt until another gentleman walked in. He ordered Carnitas about five minutes after I ordered, and got it first. My waiter told me that carne took longer to make, and just set the plate on my table without silverware. My wet burrito tasted like wet dog food, and I overall would avoid this place.

I eat here and get takeout from here all the time. The food is always consistently good, their drinks are good, and the service, especially if you come there often, is great. Their salsa is just spicy enough and their restaurant is quiet. Good for a lunch date. Worth trying especially if youre living in the area.

The food here was decent. Typical Mexican, nothing to get too excited about. But the price was very high. And come to find out, they took an extra $5.00 tip, above and beyond what we gave them. So our Saturday lunch ended up costing $35 for two adults and a child.

We have been going here for an early dinner for a couple years now. The food is what we like - standard Mexican fare - at a price we can afford. Our favorite waiter is Mario. They recently reupholstered and painted so it is even more comfortable and cheerful.

The waiter seemed angry and didnt have customer service skills at all. I had to keep calling him over if I wanted any of his attention and my girlfriend and I were the only ones in there. The food looked sloppy and was generic I wont be going back.

Major improvement. Came here a while back and didnt like it. Got the Chile Colorado and combo fajitas tonight. Both dishes were excellent. The staff was also very friendly and took great care of us. Had a great time here tonight with the wife...

Great place to eat. I have been here many times and have always had great service. The gentleman waiter who works here is great and friendly. I have only ever had one bad experience where the food made me sick and that was ages ago.

Food is OK. Gave them a 20% tip and pay with my debit card. Found out they took an extra $15 dollars out for an tip. I reported them to the BBB. Will not be back. Dont go unless you want them to steal your money.

The food is adequate, however the waiter (a man) on both occasions changed the price from the menu price. We called him on it and he corrected it. We wont be back.

Bad food, bad waiter, ordered a bean and beef burrito no beans in it and tasted bad, the Pepsi was flat, a bad night for us. Will no go back.

Great food fast and huge margaritas around 10bucks ....cant go wrong here. all around good place to eat and enjoy your time with the family

They overcharge you and the food tastes microwaved, not even a decent price. The waiter there is grumpy and pushes you to order quickly.
