I went to El Charro 6 months ago with my daughter. The service was not good at all and the food was extremely dissapointing. Tasted like frozen t.v. dinners. I went back again on the evening of 3/4/17 hoping things had changed. I got there at 9 pm and the place was COMPLETELY empty. The online hours of operation said they were open until 10 pm. The neon sign on the building said "open". Their was no wait staff, no one at the front desk. I found a bell and rang it and a man came out of the kitchen with a look and attitude like I was disturbing him. I asked if they were still open and he said, "only for takeout". I said, "Are you telling me I cant eat here?" He said thats right, only to go orders. I went there because I wanted to have a few cocktails and possibly a decent meal, otherwise I would have gone to Taco Bell. I shook my head and walked out. I will never go back to this place. For the record, it was the worst Mexican food I have had in a restaurant. I would recommend avoiding this place and look for something else, anything else.

True story: while ordering at the counter one day, I casually inquired about the cashiers Spanish Bible. He immediately proceeded to harangue me about how I should patronize his church... WHILE NEVER TAKING HIS EYES OFF OF MY GIRLFRIENDS T!TS. Such a beautiful, spiritual, uplifting & reaffirming cultural exchange that day! Where else in this universe of ours can one experience such sublime transcendence than in a Mexican dive in Springtucky...? In fairness, this was years ago... but still "enchanting" enough for the perpetual retelling, especially since I suspect the protagonist in this charming tale is probably still working there. Oh, and Im pretty sure that at least half the menu is lightly-spiced Alpo. ;)

Was here and it was the absolutely the worst service EVER!! It was like me and my friend were a complete bother even to be in the establishment. The tacos I had were watery meat and made my taco shells just fall apart I only made it through a couple of bites. There wasnt anyone in the place but it took 10 min to seat us. Dont bother these people they obviously do NOT want your business. I needed a receipt for my not so savory plate and actually had to go back in the kitchen to ask them to print me one. I am not usually a complaining kind of person but this was horrible.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Or your money!!! ¡!

Ive dined-in twice and ordered to-go twice, and the food is consistently very good. Its not "the best Mexican food Ive ever eaten in my life", but for Eugene-Springfield its my favorite Mexican restaurant. I prefer El Charro to Chapala any day of the week. The staff are very welcoming, my orders were all correct, and the semi-tacky decor is kinda fun. The margaritas are also very good. The $12 cost per person was based on a $39 bill plus $9 tip for four adults, which included margaritas.

This place has the worst Mexican food ever. I ordered a chicken enchilada. The was no enchilada sauce or cheese. The chicken(?) inside consisted of hard, white squares that were supposed to be chicken. I also ordered a chicken tostada. When I got home there was no Chicken, all lettuce with one tomato the size of a quarter. The price of this was 19$. I ordered the same items at Dos Amigos for 13$ that had real chicken,tomatoes & cheese.

Tortilla soup extremely salty, tortillas can be broken down to make them easier to grab with spoon, and why adding cheese to the soup? Vegetables and some more spices in the soup can improve the flavor. One thing, my cultural background is Mexican, and therefore biased a little since this food has nothing to do with Mexican dishes, but I am not giving the opinion based on that. Service can be improved with a smile.

The "Anderson Review" is false. They put the plates in the oven thats why they are hot. I have been going there for 8 years, never once had a bad experience. Amazing rice and salsa. My favorite menu item is the deluxe burrito with shredded beef. Sooooo good!

Good luck making your movie on time. Just took an hour to get our food and no one bothered to explain or apologize. The food is also ridiculously overpriced. $9.50 for a "deluxe avocado tostada" that had 1/3 of an avocado on top.

Ive been here three times for lunch. They have excellent lunch specials from 11-3pm. Ive gotten a different meal every time. Food has been good and the service is great. Its becoming my favorite spot for lunch.

Ordered the enchilada and taco lunch combo. Food came it was a plain, hard-shell taco with little flavor. The enchilada had no sauce as well as tasting bland. Only acceptable part of the trip was the service
