I have been going to Sunroom for many years now and I really enjoy the food. The reason I rate this low is because of the service. I really do not understand how this place picks their waiters, their service is just going down. Here are a few of my recent experiences: 1. I asked for a hummus platter and repeatedly mentioned my dietary restrictions, and I was served tuna salad. The waiters were all hanging out in the back and even the ones that came out wouldnt make an eye contact. After a long wait, my food was taken back. 2. There is an ongoing debate about the thai tofu noodle bowl. Some waiters convincingly say it has fish sauce and some equally convincingly say it doesnt. In fact if you mention this to one waitress, they start bitching about the other waitress. 3. Recently I again made a visit, I specifically asked if the soup met my dietary restriction and the waitress went and double checked it for me(apparently). However when I saw things floating in my soup and I couldnt get anyones eye contact for a while, I had to walked up to the cashier. The cashier confirmed my suspicion that the waitress was wrong and it was all written very clearly on the menu black-board. That is definitely the last time I am going there. If they had put a little more effort into training/quality I wouldnt have to face this situation multiple times.

I went in for breakfast alone. I was seated right away, which was nice. They had about 2/3 of the dining room filled. I waited about 10 minutes to have my waitress come to my table. I ordered a drink and the two eggs, toast, and potatoes meal (one of the most basic items on the menu). It took about 25 minutes for the food to arrive to my table. The potatoes were DELICIOUS and the sour dough toast was toasted/buttered perfectly. The eggs, however, were lacking. I ordered my eggs medium and they came cooked to my liking, but they were covered in the black gunk from an overly dirty grill. The black stuff made the eggs taste awful. I waited awhile to tell my waitress and see about different eggs, but she was nowhere to be seen. I was in a hurry, so I ate and waited for my bill. I finished eating and waited almost 10 minutes before the waitress came back for the first time (with bill in hand). The prices were average. The waitress was friendly, but inattentive and basically left me alone with my less than satisfactory meal. The waiting times were horrendous, especially being a slower time. I really loved the potatoes, though!

Went here for the first time tonight. This place definitely has its own feel which is decidedly not corporate which is a refreshing feeling when even State Street is overrun with franchises these days. I had a special they were having, Green Beans and Walnuts over Chevre Pasta. It was good but a little bland. I blame my choice for that as much as their dish. Ive never found pasta served with a cream sauce as exciting as I hope it will be when I order it. It had goat cheese too and red peppers which gave it a interesting mix of flavor and a little spice. They give you warm bread when you sit down which I though was pretty good. The service was excellent. My waitress was cheerful and attentive on what looked like a slow night. The menu is quite extensive, and they have lots of vegetarian options as well. I highly recommend it.

Ive enjoyed Sunroom Cafe at least two dozen times over the past 5 years. It is by far the best breakfast restaurant on or near State Street, and excellent for lunch as well. Sunroom serves European-style local food menu including a wide range of excellent pancake, omelette, french toast, waffle plates, along with fruit and many delicious bakery and pastry items. For lunch there is many great salads, mediterranean plates, cold and hot sandwiches, and always two or three specials. Perhaps one place that Sunroom stands out most is its vegan, veggie, and gluten-free menu items, as they were out front of those movements and menu offers many excellent selections. As reference, one of my favorite lunch selections is the Tuna Melt with Avocado, and all of the scramblers are top-shelf.

After reading a lot of reviews and looking over the menu (which specifically states breakfast is served till three), I decided to choose this place to eat brunch while I was in Madison for a short time. I was really disappointed. The middle aged man behind the counter was really unkind. I could not hear him when he would speak, but he got really huffy when I asked him to for clarification on a menu item. The Quiche I ordered was not good at all, the tea was way overpriced. All around not a good time, maybe it was a bad day for them. They need to do something to let people know they do not serve breakfast past 11am.

Walked into the cafe around 11:30a.m. and a "Hostess will seat you" sign was positioned upright on the left. Waited for about 10 minutes until we were told we were supposed to order at the counter. But, our food was great. I ordered the blueberry buttermilk pancakes (which I would MOST DEFINITELY recommend) and my boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito which he enjoyed very much. Our total was under $20...affordable! Overall great experience with the exception of the staff (who, may have just been too busy to direct us to the counter). We will be back!

Very fun and cute location tucked away in the city. The portions were too large but the meal I had (egg and bacon sandwich with potatoes) was very good. I was incredibly disappointed that they didnt serve waffles, though. We also felt very rushed; the waitress kept coming asking if we were ready to order without giving us any time, and she brought us the check and told us to go to the register with it before we were even done eating.

Vegans Beware Ordered a vegan Arabic sampler but what we thought was Babaghanouj/Hummus was actually Tuna salad with mayo. We told many times we were vegan and this was such a careless mistake! The waitress was very apologetic, but I doubt Ill be going there again! It left an awful taste in our mouths. I should say I used to frequent this place for their tasty tofu scrambler but this experience has made me wary.

Just at here today and it was so enjoyable. If you are familiar with Lazy Janes in Madison (another wonderful little breakfast joint), this place may remind you of it as far as the menu and prices. Very sunny and cute cafe--hence the name. I had the veggie scrambler and split some french toast with a friend . Both were wonderful! Plus one free coffee refill--you cant go wrong!

I have eaten here at least a dozen times. Excellent ticket times (consistently under 15min), decent service, good bloody Mary, top 10 best french toast Ive ever had. The one drawback would be the consistency on some of the food. Some times excellent sometimes not quite hitting the mark. But for a college town restaurant overall they more than meet the standard.

Driving through Madison for the 1st time, we were looking for a place for breakfast/brunch. I had a spinach and bacon omlette which was served with spicy potatoes and greens and it was all delicious! The kids had pancakes and bacon which they ate every bite of, and one had a cheeseburger which was also said to be delicious.
