What a horrible, horrible experience. 3 friends and I went to eat at IHOP on a Saturday night. Our waiter, Patrick, wouldnt make eye contact with us, didnt seem to know the menu very well and was shaky like crazy - we assumed he was on drugs, to be quite honest. I ordered the BLT with french fries, Friend A ordered Strawberry French Toast Combo, Friend B ordered a full Pot Roast Melt sandwich with the potato soup and 1 pancake, and Friend C ordered a spinach, bacon and hash brown omelet with a cup of fruit. Friend C specified that she didnt want any tomatoes, and when Friend B asked for one pancake the waiter told him that they only serve pancakes in pairs - to which Friend B said that that would be okay, hell have 2 pancakes then. As the waiter brought our food out his swipe card hanging on his wrist was dangling on my food as he handed my friends their food and his thumb was halfway onto our plates as he handed them to us - very unprofessional and disgusting. We come to find out that my food and Friend Bs food were both already half cold, Friend Cs omelet had tomatoes in it even though she requested that it didnt, Friend B only had half a sandwich when he ordered a full sandwich AND his pancakes were no where to be found. The next time the waiter came around we asked about the pancakes that were missing and he seemed very confused (even though Friend B had a discussion with the waiter about how pancakes are only served in pairs), the waiter said that it would be just a couple minutes until those came up. We never saw the pancakes. We finished our food and headed to the register to pay where the girl who greeted us asked us who our server was and then yelled over to our waiter to come ring us up - even though she could have easily helped us pay for our bills. Maybe its a policy that our waiter must ring us up, but our waiter was obviously busy and she obviously wasnt. Our waiter was putting food onto trays at the time - to take out to another table, which we were perfectly fine with - but he was taking his fine and dandy time and made us wait for about 5 minutes before he wandered over to help us pay our bills. We were ready to walk out. Overall it was a horrible first experience for me at IHOP and Im really disappointed.

Okay first off to the guy who mentioned one of the staff members name.. seriously? Do you have nothing better to do than to do ridicule some teenage kid, who was actually in the military fighting for your freedom before he worled there so that you can act like a bafoon! He is not a druggie AT ALL and was shaking nervous because it was the grand reopening in November 2011, and we were all basically not trained by corporate. thats right i used to work their too. I had to quit because i found something closer to home, and the place was a disaster waiting to happen. peoples experiences are terrible because this place is not training employees right, they yell and make the girls cry during service. the POS system is outdated and mind boggling, and the whole system of who rings who up and why something is done their way instead of the right way is no ones fault but management. also to everyone complaining about the ghettoness. its the freaking eastside people, move west if you need to feel snooty while eating at a diner. i am not defending these peoples mistakes but i am just asking people to understand that these kids in here cooking and serving are only as good as the managers train them. maybe you all ought to think about your first jobs and call the number that someone left and complain to the right person. dont be such ricks with ds! anyway i would not suggest going here as the back of house is not clean, and the service is terrible, but just dont be so harsh people, you may have cost someone their jobs and maybe their lives. some of the kids dont have much to hold on to and are trying really hard just to struggle by and be losers that you people just get to crap on when you dont get what you want like a 3 year old.

I come to Madison almost every weekend and bring my 4 year old son to the "pancake store". Honestly, Im pretty surprised at the many terrible reviews. However, I must note that most of them are from 3 or 4 years ago. In the past 2 years that Ive been coming every weekend, the staff have been busy and clearly working hard. Its a small place with the pass through in the center of the restaurant, so it can get loud. My food comes out very fast. The food is always good and usually exactly what I order. They may miss bringing extra napkins upon my request, but honestly, everyone is human. Ive worked in industry (management, service, and kitchen) for years and I have strong expectations. But it is unreasonable to expect perfection at every table at every moment. Some of you reviewers sound like a bunch of (insert NSFW name here). I will say they could improve overall cleanliness (sticky syrup containers) but they are clearly making a concerted and successful effort to diligent, professional, and delicious. And to the person who got gum stuck on their leg, it clearly couldnt have been there for long if it was still wet enough to stick to your leg.

Too long of a wait at 1:30 pm, and not that many tables occupied. I can understand cleaning up after the morning rush, but waitstaff were constantly bumping into each other. Theyve got a lot of tables squeezed in to accommodate the amount of people they want, which makes it hard to maneuver at the corners. The prices; sure theyre sufficient, but for a small 1 oz cup of salsa they shouldnt have to charge an extra .99 cents! "Bottomless Cup of Coffee" is $2.59 Each! For crying out loud, thats what the damned POT should be, Not Each Cup!!! We Split our Meal because we are Senior Citizens, and dont need to eat a whole meal each, or drink @$6 of Coffee! Used to enjoy stopping here. Apparently thats not going to happen anymore; not worth it. Sorry, but this place has taken a bad nose dive.

This place is a mess. Staff running around, customers standing waiting to be seated, fed and pay. If you want to pay cash be ready to wait a good 10 minutes for your change. Or even someone to run your card. The staff are rude and totally do not know what they are doing. First I tried to call and place an order for pick up. After being placed on hold for five minutes I was told that they didnt do phone orders anymore. That was ok I only live about five minutes away so I decided to drive. I get there and what do I see right in the door? A sign that says call ahead for carry out orders! Next I wait for ten minutes to even get someone to pay attention to me after seeing numerous waiters pass right in front of me and other patrons.

Horrible. my boyfriend and I came down to Madison for a badgers game and being from a place where theres no IHOP within a reasonable distance from us we were super excited for our breakfast for dinner. We get there order and sat there for 20-30 mins with nothing, not even water. To which I reminded the waitress/hostess/cashier that we were thirsty and wanted our water. After an hour, we still had no food and only water. So we decided to leave. IHOP get it together. Have more than one person doing a 3 person job. Not only that have someone who actually remembers to put food orders in. Very disappointed! This was one of the things I was looking forward to on this trip.
