Wow... where to start? It was a good half hour before getting our food, which was a surprise since there were only 4 tables filled at the restaurant. I ordered Eggs Benedict w/ toast for $12, and for the price I did not expect powdered Hollandaise Sauce, and but did expect the English Muffins to be toasted.. even slightly. I will say they eggs were just about right, but the rest was nearing inedible. It did not come with the toast as stated, but with a huge portion of Hash Browns, which was pretty good and at least gave me something to fill up on. My wife got Waffles, which she said were good, but came with cold syrup, and a side of a Toasted??? biscuit. I got a very weak coffee, and even had to refuse the warmer she offered because I have had better in a hospital. When asked how everything was, we said "I, guess it is alright" trying to hint that there was an issue, but not be an a## about it. The waitress said "well good then" and walked off without trying to see what could be done. Now we get to the bathroom... I couldnt believe that restaurant would have bathrooms in such a condition. Plywood bathroom stalls, green streaks down the walls, doors that didnt close correctly, and then there was the smell that could have knocked a pig off its feet. If you think that I just have no idea what I am talking about, I was an Executive Chef for many years in fine dining, and have been classically trained. That being said, I could even appreciate Taco Bell and know when to expect certain things. But, spending over $30 on breakfast for 2 with 1 coffee, (my wife didnt even get a drink) for nearly inedible food, not to mention bad service, made me so angry I wanted to call Chef Ramsey and tell him to get his butt down here and save this place. The only saving grace for this place was the nice patio and garden. Without it, I put it below Dennys and Carrows on almost every level. I will never be back, and would probably rather light $30 on fire just to watch the pretty dancing flame.

Absolutely unprofessional rude and hires illegals. Slowest service ever. The 1st time we went here it took forever and a day to get our food and no one even apologized about the slow service. All of the employees looked panicked and were rushing all over the place. Way too understaffed. We decided to give it another try and this would be the visit that either redeemed this place or made us never come back. 2nd visit was even worse. We stood waiting for anyone to acknowledge my husband, 2 year old and myself. The older woman behind the counter who was looking at receipts looked up at us and my husband said "table for 3 please". Without responding at all, she looked back down and then walked away.... Never once acknowledged us or said "we will be right with you"... Nothing, just walked away and went about her business and never got anyone else. Then a random woman walks up and motions to us to follow her after seeing us waiting. Since we had such a bad experience the 1st time we asked her how long the wait for food would be and she couldnt even speak English. She gave us a blank stare and we asked again, she looked around confused, clearly unable to speak or understand english.... Not ok at all. We walked out and went somewhere else . Worst service weve EVER had. Will NEVER go back!

Regional "go to" for locals seeking a basic diner for breakfast and lunch. Nothing outstanding but their power bread is a unique and satisfying offering for those seeking a seedy experience. (Gluten free eaters need not apply. ) Staff state that only butter is used in this establishment. Nice touch for those who want to avoid corn greases like margarine. Syrup and jam are sweet and standard. Perfectly complementary to the large pancakes and waffles. Biscuits and gravy were moderately tasty but seemed salty. Hash browns are cut large and tasted a bit fishy. A unusual side to the Cameo is its integration of a few Korean inspired dishes. Pretty sure no where else in Vancouver offers a ground mung bean pancake stuffed with veggies. Staff is jovial, loud and welcoming. The views to the patio and golf course are a sweet respite in any season. This reviewer will try a new place before immediate return but the Cameo will remain on the radar.

Food was very good. The service was the worst I have ever had ever ever ever!!! First my daughter wanted a minute to finish deciding.....about 10 minutes passed. Ordered. Order up fast. One greeter cash register person and one waitress. Maybe four tables of eaters. Finished eating and look for a bill. Waitress sitting at counter eating, drinking and playing on phone. Wait, wait, wait. Finally got up and ask lady at cash register for to go boxes and bills. She brought them right away. I went up to pay the bill and asked if perhaps they are short handed. She said "no, they just cover for each other when business is slow". Not sure when she was planning to kick that into action, but I wasnt going to wait for it to happen!!! I told her it was the worst service I have ever had and she apologized. But from reading past reviews I wonder if anyone really cares???

The food was good and the portions were large, but $15 for a breakfast meal is a bit overpriced. A side of bacon for $5.50? Really? And the service was really lackluster. I asked for a high chair with my daughter in my arms, and was pointed to a stack in the back corner of the restaurant. To make matters worse, all five of the high chairs in this establishment had broken straps. Drink refills didnt occur, and obtaining the check took an inordinate amount of time. Maybe we just had a bad experience, but there are too many good breakfast spots around here to waste time at this place.

There are 2 separate parts to the Cameo, the bar side and the restaurant side. The restaurant is usually busy for breakfast and lunch and quieter in the evenings. i have never had a bad meal there and the portions are huge. The bar has a happy hour from 4-7, the prices are low and the drinks strong. The beer selection rotates has got much better. The only down side to the bar is that it does get packed and very loud with plenty of swearing - if you dont like this you should stay away. The bar also serves food and has some great happy hour specials.

Cant complain about the service but the food was a bit lacking. The garlic mash was good, the mixed vegetables were good but would have been more at home in an asian dish. The meatloaf was tv dinner quality smothered in a too salty brown "mushroom" gravy, which was curioisly lacking in mushrooms. The gravy worked with the potatoes so maybe the meatloaf was over salted. Either way Im willing to try the place again before passing judgement.

Its not the nicest restaurant. Its not the best restaurant. But its exactly what it tries to and needs to be. Early morning chicken fried steak with lovely old-school diner feel? Yup. Waitresses who are always there to fill up your coffee and call you "hon"? Mmhmm. Plenty of old timers who make you feel a decade younger than you really are? Oh yeah. Cameo wants to take you back to a simpler time and, by and large, it succeeds.
