WOW. First of all I grew up going to the Swiss and it was hands down one of my favorite places in Tacoma. Tonights fiasco ruined everything. As I was leaving an obviously homeless guy asked me for some water. I went back inside and asked the bartender if I could buy 4 bottles of water. He asked me who they are for and I replied "does it matter who they are for?" He said, "yes it does matter. If it is for that guy outside then no you can not buy any bottles of water." We are talking WATER people. Not a pitcher, not anything else.....H2O. For a fellow HUMAN BEING. Something you can get anywhere except for the Swiss in Tacoma. The homeless guy was a black dude and the bartender was definately white longhaired bigoted racist MF. This is my first review of any business. I have never felt the need to review any business positive or negative except for right now. The Swiss was denying a fellow human being H2 freakin O. Messed up. The guy was not causing any problems or anything. The good olSwiss is definately not what it used to be! Stay away. Or if management is reading this get rid of those bigoted bartenders please! Jack and Carol Ann please get rid of these people and bring the old SWISS back!!

A staple of downtown Tacoma and literally a landmark destination. The Swiss is a place you just have to visit. Great local craft brews on tap along with a very abundant selection of other beers that should agree with many beer palates. They also serve up spirits and have a full bar to accommodate those that prefer spirits over beer. the bar is pretty big and can hold a pretty big crowd if needed. Since its pretty close to the university I suspect there they probably at times get a could college crowd. This pub/bar has a great atmosphere and is very inviting. Its not pretentious at all and you should feel at home upon entering. Just gives you a warm and cozy feeling. They have a full lunch and dinner menu although we have never eaten here we have heard heard could feedback from patrons while there.

So positive first. Thanks to the bartender for comping my iced tea and hot water that was awsome. That being said I will not be going back here again, 1. The rude look the server gave my wife when she asked for just hot water. 2. We never saw another server come over to our table the rest of the night. The one next to us yes, all the others behind us you bet, but not ours. My table mate and i had to go to the bar and get our own drinks, sorry tea and water were so demanding. 3. That being said I was looking forward to trying the food. Guess I will never know as we were never offered a menu. I would have asked for one if a server would have come by to check on my table. So to sum up bad service has cost you a patron who loves good food and friendly places. The swiss is not one of them.

We visited this location for their first comedy hour; the food and drinks were better than the comedians. When we arrived, we were one of only a handful of patrons so we had our selection of seats. We chose one along the wall, which gave us an opportunity to appreciate the eclectic designs that decorate the venue. For an appetizer we ordered two of the street tacos - fish and pulled pork; the pulled pork was excellent and the fish was decent. I appreciate that the pork is marinated in-house and I think that contributed to its tenderness. Our entree choice were the sausages with German potatoes and grilled bread - all of it was excellent. In addition to the food and drink, the staff was very attentive to our needs and were a delightful aspect of the experience.

I dont know why this place has such good reviews. I work near the Swiss restaurant and have tried it a few times. You CANNOT get your food within an hour of being seated. And after an hour, your hamburger is likely still pink. The entire place smells like beer and urinal cakes. Also, the food is okay, but definitely not better than the Harmon, which is across the street. Its a waste of time and money. Go somewhere else.

Above and beyond service. Bar manager went out of his way to welcome me and discuss the history of the place and the area. Had the slider trio and Id rate all 3 sliders at 5 stars. Excellent beer selection, although I do wish the whiskey selection had been better. There are many great pubs in the area, but this is easily one of the best for food, drink, atmosphere, and service. 5 stars all the way

Love this place. We went after the lunch time rush to see Chihulys Art pieces when it was not crowded and stayed for lunch. As you walked around all of the rooms you can clearly see the history of the place and that this clearly is a great place for nightlife, and live entertainment. It is worth a walk up the hill to check out the history, food, evening entertainment of this place

Food and service was mediocre. The fish tacos werent memorable. Their Mac n cheese is okay but I wouldnt get it again. The Matterhorn Burger was delicious though. The menu states that it is a fan favorite. Its a nice enough looking place and kid friendly until 830pm so theres that. We may give it another try in the future of were ever in the area again.

The food is good and it has multiple dedicated seating for meals. Theres even a cozy little loft above the main dining area. The bar is also very good. Service is kind of spotty during midday, unfortunately. As a homey-ish restaurant, its just above a 3. As a music venue, its about a 2, although Im probably just bitter about the breakup of the Retros.

I stopped in by myself just to get a small bite to eat. So glad I did. Sarah was very attentive which is not always the case for someone hanging solo. I ordered the vegetable beef soup and flat bread. Delicious! If there were free refills on that soup, I would of had 2 more. There were a lot of folks playing trivia which was fun to watch.

Great food and our server was very nice. Food all came out hot and within a good time frame. Lively fun environment great for a group or a date night. Only thing I can say that was not great is the French Dip wasnt the best. It was very bland. I had to add salt and lots of pepper to get some flavor. But very satisfied and will be back.

Had a good time. Went in for a birthday celebration. Wasnt the most wonderful of places, but still good. The room with the pool tables smelled like a gym locker room, which was off putting. Food wasnt as good as I had hoped or was told it was. And no happy hour on Friday nights...basically every other night, but friday.

I imagine this place is fabulous when its not gearing up for an event at the Tacoma Dome. Service was quite slow and they were apparently understaffed. The menu was also limited the day we were there. Good vibe though and quick service at the bar. Family friendly until the evening is nice too.
