Coffee - meh. Gluten free bread is awesome. Knocked off two stars because I am scarred by my bathroom experience here. Door would NOT lock and three different people walked in on my after coffee poopee. When I told an employee, "hey, might wanna fix that bathroom door," she shrugged and said "it gets stuck sometimes." Come on guys. Thats super awkward. Get some wd-40 and fix your potty lock. Kthxbai. EDIT: Yay they fixed the door! And I had the shiitake omelette today. Almost crying with how delicious it is. Well done, omg. Bumping rating up to 4 stars. If you start having gluten free pastry options, then this will be a 5 star cafe as far as Im concerned.

I rounded up from 4.5 stars. Short bike ride from the arboretum. This morning mimosas were the special, but they were out of champagne. The earl grey was pretty good. And a breakfast sandwich and pastry both of which were good considering the price. Staff was courteous- they even brought out my food. Its seems like kind of a hang out spit. Half the people here are in their computers, the other half are reading, and the other half are mashing conversation. Lots of windows let in a plenty of natural light, and let you look at the drizzle in the fall, winter, and spring. Oh, and they have interesting artwork.

I tried the Reuben sandwich and iced tea. The sandwich was pretty good. Tasted fresh. Service was good too. They even brought our order out to the patio. Pretty nice place overall. If you are in the area you can consider it, but for me not a place I would drive there from further away. Dont get me wrong food and service was great, but not just that great that it will draw me back here, since I am not living close by.

Food and coffee is always great and pastries are outstanding. To often they are out of things... Today no rice milk or almond milk so no dairy alternative. Staff seemed overworked and impatient. Recommend calling ahead and dont be surprised if they bring your food out and say something is missing... Need to get used to substitution without conversation and a great big smiley Sorry!

EBC is a community staple. Ruthlessly efficient coffee and food bar, with amazing baked goods and inventive, freshly cooked entrees (far better than ready-made cafe sandwiches). Space is wanting for the volume of operation and popularity, I wouldnt feel comfortable camping there to work. But its a great (and serves better as) a gathering spot.

I ordered an omlet, not a plate of bread. Sadly, most of my meal went straight into compost. Waist of money. Update: The next day, I was very sick due to my allergy of gluten, as if they had covered my omlet in flour. Not a good pick if you have a gluten allergy, even if you get their gluten-free bread.

This staff works hard and treats me like I am coming home. The croissants are not my favorite in the city, but they work beautifully for sandwiches or toasted with jam. The savory section, the coffee, the fine pastries all make their mark of joy on my face.

Slow and disorganized service. We ordered croissant sandwich and got panini instead. Also crape with mashroms and gorgonzola chease came cold. I was explained that mashroms were precooked.Poor quality and service on many levels.

Mediocre coffee and food, indifferent staff, and the WiFi asks for a credit card - sketchy. Yet, somehow it remains a popular neighborhood destination. Highlights the need for more cafe competition in Madison Valley.

The Blonde girl with long hair extremely rude to us. We took a few mins to decide and she apparently wasnt happy with that. Extremely rude. Food taste decent but poor service will never go back.

We are lucky to have this in the neighborhood. The sandwiches are great while the pastries are okay. Service is slow so be warned.

Have visited many times over the last decade+. Food is consistently great, but service tends to be slow and disorganized.

The sandwiches are average, but when you spend ten to twelve dollars for these sandwiches I expect better quality food.
