Personell lacks courtesy. Grateful Bread is a quaint little shop with tasty products, however, the people behind the counter need to polish their customer service or learn some basic etiquette. Four people behind the counter, none of them notices the waiting customer (baby in arms). The older man arriving later, but who is more vociferous, is served first. Nonetheless, I leave a tip, as I always do. Personell watches aloof as I balance the order in one hand, baby in the other, back and forth two times between counter and table. The soup is spicy (before ordering I was assured it wasnt) and the quiche is served at fridge temperature. Addressing these shortfalls to the personell triggers amused looks from behind the counter. The owner is quick to offer a refund, when in fact, an apology would have been the proper thing to do.

GRATEFUL BREAD... LISTEN You are known for making breads and bagels.... Your bagel toaster makes bagels in 1 of 2 ways... warm and not really toasted or Sort of burnt and not really toasted. Your toaster is worthless. I know if you turn down the heat and the speed it runs, that it will take longer to get the orders out, but the actual toaster will actually toast the bread... And guess what. properly toasted bagels taste waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then warm or burnt ones. PLEASE fix the toaster.

It can, at certain times of day, be hard to find a table or keep a conversation very quiet *inside*. Theres semi-outdoor seating as well, however, which is often fairly quiet. Bread! Pastries. Bread! Amazing and wonderful bread. Worth a shot wait in line, worth the consideration and planning ahead regarding the tiny parking lot (please consider that it is on a bus line!), worth many hoops just top get at that bread.

This is one of my favorite local coffee houses! The food is really good, the atmosphere comfortable (similar to a college town coffee shop), and the staff pleasant. There are frequently lines reaching the door despite several people working on orders. Maybe this is why some of the reviewers complained about grumpy servers??

Been a long time since last here. A forgotten gem. Old world food and drink items and busy lunch hour right now. Line up and waiting now. Primary food here is multiple soup choices all handmade and amazing. Also having Ginger Snap cookie. Handmade also and is amazing good. Tex Mex Chili..wow good. Ya all need to try this.

i love this place! a few years ago, my husband showed me this bakery, where he and his dad used to go early in the mornings when they lived nearby as a kindergartner. i love the charm and, of course, the delicious bagels and sourdough bread. always nice to stop in when were in the neighborhood.

I love everything about this place. The salads are delish and the reuben is so good. We try to get a different pastry every time and have never been disappointed. We usually take a loaf home for sandwiches and toast. It never lasts longer than a couple days. Coffee is also very good.

One of my favorites in Seattle. Great flavorful bagels unless youre looking for the really soft kind. Awesome selection of cookies and pastries. Try the strawberry rhubarb bar, its excellent. The bread loaves are nothing to write home about, but soups and sandwiches are quite tasty.

I just happened to stop by because I was early to a lunch date, and I already love this place. The feel, the food selection, the pretty reasonable prices, the toys for kids to play with...its all great. I got the everything bagel with their garlicky hummus, and loved it

Great food, great staff, awesome selection and fantastic environment. The bread is amazing, the pastries are addicting and everything else is carefully selected, most likely organic and local. Cant get enough of their peanut butter cookies... Ugh

Located near my church, it is a popular Sunday brunch hangout. They have a great selection of locally sourced foods, good coffee, free wifi and a spacious seating area. Go local and visit Grateful Bread for breakfast, lunch or a quick pick-me-up!

Ive come here for years and I have no complaints. The coffee is great as well as the bagels, bread, salads, and quiche. The pasty prices can be high but that little bit of euphoria is worth it. Also the staff are very kind, chatty, and hip.

Its a very good bakery, albeit a bit hippy (the name says it all). The bread and sandwiches are tasty and I try to go here at least one weekend per month. My only issue is they dont have lox for their bagels, only salmon cream cheese.

Delicious food! Ive had the potato soup, cheese danish, and mocha - all were perfect. There can be long-ish (5-10 min) lines on weekends, like any bakery. It has quite a bit of seating and plenty of lot & street parking nearby.

This place has a nice atmosphere, and their bagels and sandwiches are really good. Their coffee and pastries are somewhat lacking. I reccomend the club sandwich and your preference of bagel with the salmon spread.

I love their almond pastries. Needless to say about fresh bakes, but also days old discounted bread/pastries are good, too. It is spacious and even out side seating is comfortable. But internet is very slow.

8 bucks for an 8oz. vanilla latte and a croissant. .. the prices are too high, but food and coffee tastes good. Most likely wont be a regular spot because of the prices

Addictive bagels that give an out of body experience. Great coffee. Great service. Great hippie vibe. You have to try their cream cheese. Pastries are great too!

Adorable neighborhood bakery of the sort that is growing increasingly endangered. A great place to buy some coffee and a bagel, sit down, and get some work done.

One of the best places in North Seattle to get breakfast and coffee while hanging out and surfing the web. Maybe do a little work if youre inclined.

The service is slow at times and the bagels can be either 7/10 or 6/10 (NY bagel 10/10 scale). But seating, pastries, and general quality are good.

If youre tired of corporate coffee outlets, you might like this mom-and-pop bakery/coffeehouse that is beloved by the local community.

Best organic challah in town! A bit pricey but well worth it. And their rasin crown challah for Rosh Hashanah is a bit of heaven.

I love the food here, but the counter help has such a bad attitude that half the time I dont bother subjecting myself to the pain.

Comforting neighborhood spot with great bread. No, seriously, they bake their own. Bagels are the best in this part odd the city.
