The sushi is good for its price and also compared to many conveyor belt sushi places. Nothing too outstanding but it works on a night when you are just looking for some food for dinner. I took two stars out because the glass of water I got had lipstick stain on it and that got me thinking how clean the rest of the utensils were. Another thing was that there was a line for people to get seated by the time I left and the two servers were so busy getting people signed up that they neglected the people waiting to get their bill. They could have just left a sign up sheet out so people could write their names down and the servers could give out the bills to speed things up. At least something to think of during rush hour. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place for simple quick food, the place is a good choice. But dont count on a speedy check out during lunch or dinner hours, or when you need to get to the movie quickly!

Update: This place lost a star because they raised the prices :( Although I cant come often anymore I still love this place! ----- Melts-in-your-mouth sushi (and Im not talking about cali rolls)! Right when it opened we went in on a late afternoon Saturday. We were the first ones there but the place filled up quickly. We sat in a booth and was promptly asked for drinks by the waiter. She was attentive to check on us for our tea refills thoughout. The fish was so fresh and they even had salmon roe when we asked. I always appreciate small selections in restaurants because that usually translates to quality over quantity. And here, it did. We also ordered calamari; it was the best that Ive ever had--still juicy, not chewy, full of flavor, not full of breading. I will definitely go there again! I finally found my go-to-sushi place. Everything was delicious and this place is awesome.

Normally cheap and sushi dont go together, but DELICIOUS cheap sushi? Absolutely! We found out about Tengu from a Valpak coupon and even without the coupon, a sushi monger like my boyfriend and I can eat a bunch for 1/4 the cost of Blue C and the fish is fresher and tastier. Ive never liked Saba (mackrel) before because its always been chewy. Not here! Their Albacore tuna with a little bit of ginger and scallions was amazing. The only downside of a sushi-go-round? Waiting for the things you missed to come back, but thats part of the experience. -Sarah S. Seattle

Were picky about sushi since my husbands parents are from Japan and this is the best kaiten-zushi weve found in Seattle. Obviously, its not the same as the sit down sushi places but its excellent quality sushi, fun for the kids, great prices and all around fabulous experience. We go about once a month and always have a great time. The one thing to mention is that the servers are often overwhelmed as there are usually two for the whole restaurant, they are always very nice but you need to be prepared and order everything you need when they do get to you.

Pros: * Decent prices for the trendy Thornton Place amenities area, which surprised me. * Right next to Thornton Place theater. * Get a good deal on theater tickets with your meal. But ask, the information is a bit vague. * Good conveyor belt sushi. * California rolls with real crab, instead of krab! Cons: * Service is horrible if you happen to get seated behind the glass divider walls. If youre hard to see, youre out-of-sight-out-of-mind to most of the servers. * Too few service staff at any one time. Host/ess is usually also the only server.

Dont go here for lunch, prices are the same with little selection or quality. Go here for dinner as the prices are good and the sushi very tasty. Update 1/16 Service has really fallen. Took 20 minutes to be seated as the only server was not clearing any seats but getting drinks instead. Over 30 seats in the place but all with dirty dishes and 10 customers. Removing a star. Update 6/17 Service and quality have greatly improved! Lunch was excellent (on a Monday!) with plenty of fresh variety at a good price.

This place is cheap. Thats about the only thing they have going right for them. Think Blue C Sushi without the yummy sauces or the attempt to make it look appetizing. For fast food sushi, Safeway does a better job with presentation. The servers were polite, but for a sushi kitchen where people watch you assemble the food one would think they would try harder. The only reason people go here is the location and lack of other options.

I love this place, but you do have to know what to get. The good: avocado rolls, california rolls, anything raw, eel topped california rolls. The bad: salmon skin roll, seared scallops, spider rolls. The amazing: Salmon belly (I would give this six stars if I could), real crab california rolls, surf clam, snow crab. Friendly staff but they do sometimes get overwhelmed, but Ive always had a good experience.

Several tasty vegan rolls, avocado being my favorite. Also love their ume shiso, kampyo, and other veggie rolls. Edamame also always available. Hot tea, good selection of sake. Not much variety in beer, but I love Sapporo, which is what they have. Lots for omnivores. They have hot soup, as well as the typical sushi bar sashimi and sushi rolls.

I have followed this sushi chef Sato to his new place. So I have experienced him and his food in fancy sushi restaurants and now in easy and convenient and inexpensive great sushi! I did not like sushi before I found Sato. Now I am addicted to Sushi. So if you want a great sushi dinner with no fuss and easy on the wallet this is it!

Very bad service. Ive been this place several times for quick serving food, but the last time I was there with my girlfriend, we did not even get a cup of water and chopstick for 20 minutes of wait the the table. The server never responded to our call and we were just ignored. The sushi was mediocre, but cheap.

Conveyor belt sushi typically falls below a traditional sushi bar, but Tengu does a decent job overall. Quality and price (not the cheapest out there but not at all pricey) were good though, as typical of a conveyor belt place, service was lacking. It wasnt horrible, but it was slow and inattentive.

The worst. Terrible selection. Staff is unfriendly. One time I showed up a couple minutes after 2pm, they had many ppl eating with lots of plates on conveyor and they turned me away saying they were closed. I mean whats 3 minutes! Dont think Ill ever go back so many better options in the area.

We go here not just for the great chefs and staff(they always remember us) but the quality of the fish and the freshness! Ive always been wary of belt sushi but theyve broken that for me! I prefer Tengu to the majority of the Japanese restaurants in the area! Flying thumbs up, amazing EVERYTHING!

The foods is good and priced right. It is conveniently close for us, so we go often. However, two reasons not 5 stars : 1. Service is consistently slow and inattentive. Weve learned to work with that, and 2. It is always uncomfortably cold. We know to wear jackets no matter what time of year.
