this place boasts that they have track sushi for $1 per plate. what they meant to say is that they have crappy $1 per plate sushi, and $3 and up per plate for anything decent. things included in the $1 per plate include california rolls, spicy tuna rolls, salmon sushi, tuna sushi, shrimp sushi, and philadelphia rolls (there may have been a couple of other rolls that im forgetting, but there really wasnt much else included in the $1 per plate price). also, i know its track sushi (and i am a big fan of sushi hana in sw) but after my first plate, judging by the taste and warmth of the fish, its really uncertain how long it had been sitting out there. the fish definitely tasted like it was not sushi-grade. it was chewy, fatty, and in some cases an odd color ... in fact, im burping it up as i type. within 5 minutes of being there i witnessed a very loud argument coming from the kitchen, and instead of the waitstaff going to stop it, they all looked at each other like this happens all the time. needless to say, i finished my plates as fast as i could and got the hell out of there. overall, umenoki would fit right in on chef ramseys kitchen nightmares show.

i love the owner... he is a great guy and is always helpful whenever i need anything or have a special order. i am obsessed with their stuffed mushrooms!!!! they are the best stuffed mushrooms at any sushi place ive ever tried. i dont understand why people say the sushi is bland... i think it tastes like any sushi ive had at any other sushi place ive ever been. but like i said earlier the thing that keeps me coming back is i know i am supporting a cool owner who genuinely works hard to keep his customers happy. hes a little shy at first so just remember to make eye contact and tell him hi and that it is your first time there... ( hes the older looking asian man and i kid with him that his hair has gotten more grey since ive started eating there.) im currently without car so havent visited in a while so his hair may be more grey but youll know its him if you can get him to smile cause he has awesome smile. ENJOY!

Take this rating with a grain of salt. I dont know if I hit it on an off day, but it is one of the worst conveyor belt sushi places Ive been to. The portions are small but the pricing does match what you get. The quality is okay but the selection was very slim. It was there around 1pm so they may have been on the downside from the lunch rush but I dont think so. The "customer service" stuck out like a sore thumb. It was easily one of the worst servers I had ever been around. I think she tried everything not to talk. She did inform me that a coke refill would be .75 cents. That is another thing that sucks. I hope they address these issues and become better. Ill never find out if they do because I wont be going back.

its hard to rate Mr.Li (lee?) nowadays. When i started going there it was the hot spot for cheep, but good sized sushi. I would go after class in highschool because it was better then the fast food and you could fill up on 10 bucks. Saddly when it went to the 1$ menu the fancy 3$ plates stopped being out.. the portions got so much smaller and the drinks are over priced with no -refill. The new waitresses are soso... I miss May (not sure how to spell her name) but i hope she started going to collage ect because she was so sweet. This place use to be very dear to me... It still is but its not worth it to eat there. Everything is cold, even the pot stickers. But if you ask Mr lee for special rolls... It can make up for it.

This could quite possibly be the worst sushi place in Portland. When we went in at 6pm on a monday, the train was sparse, there were canned tangerines and egg rolls on it when we sat down. after watching the belt for a minute, i asked the server if more sushi was going to be put on. She said she didnt know, but i could order some off the menu. If i wanted to order sushi off a menu i wouldnt go to a belt place. So I said no thank you and stood up to leave. She asked me to wait because the owner would like to charge me some money for the water and soy sauce i had poured. i laughed in her face and walked out. I wont be going there again.

The sushi isnt bad, the location is convenient and the price cant be beat. I eat lots of sushi lots of places and their quality is on par with what youd expect in a strip mall - this is not going to be a fine dining experience with high quality stuff. But, if youre choosing between the Baja Fresh, McDonalds, BK, Arbys or Panda Distress nearby for a quick meal on the cheap that hasnt been fat-fried or freeze-dried - its a good choice. Reasonably well-stocked and assorted sushi-go-round; seating and ambiance is lame, but what dya want for a buck? I like to go there and then shop for tools at Home Depot, not bring my date home for a nightcap.

This place is a wonderful place to come and have sushi with friends or alone for lunch or dinner. If what you want on the menu is not on the conveyor belt. Just ask and Mr Li would be most happy to make it for you. I have been coming to this place for about 5 years now. And Its always been consistent for quality and taste. Its decor outside and the look inside may put you off at first. But i have felt its truly like a place of honor. Like a shrine. Nothing showy. Just good good food and if you come often enough and get to know Mr Li, A smiling face face when you get in the door. So come and give this place a chance. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

No one should ever complain about this place Im disgusted with the reviews, I come all the way from Hillsboro to go to this place, I pass by 3 sushi trains to get to this one. ITS A SUSHI TRAIN, sushi trains dont make money by selling you $15 for a buck a plate, they do have 8 dollar plates Ive heard are comparable to the more expensive places in town, Happy hour all day 1 dollar a plate, I eat easily 15 plates in one sitting, its a great value to me I can go all out and not break the bank, shame on anyone who complains about this restaurant. Mr lee is a great guy talk to him some time go in a slow day its awesome.

This is not fine-dining sushi, so keep that in mind when you visit. The sushi is tasty, and service is fast. The "hot" items are generally warm at best. However, they are always willing to reheat the item for you. Local tip: If the hot items doesnt have a lid, it is very fresh. Their cooked food, is decent as well and very fast. If youre looking for a quick in/out meal during your lunch break, this place is a must-dine. If you are looking for the $10/plate, gourmet sushi sit-down experience; you will be disappointed.
