Fatima does a fantastic job at this cafe! Being Portuguese and from a town where half its population is Portuguese, it was a culture shock coming to Seattle and not having an abundance of restaurants to choose from. My worries were quickly subsided when I found and visited Luso. Fatima, the owner, cooks all the food herself and pays so much attention to the needs and interests of her customers. There is a great wine selection and Ive enjoyed the times Ive been there in the past few months of moving here. A friendly note: Portuguese food is not typically vegan/vegetarian! Last I went, I know she was adjusting her menu to have some food friendly to those dietary restrictions. Typically, Portuguese food is very pescatarian-friendly as there is a LOT of seafood in Portuguese cuisine, but it is mostly a very heavy meat and potatoes kind of fare. But that just shows the kind of owner she is! She listens to the needs of her customers to ensure a pleasant dining experience for all.

Saturday June 24th was a hot summer day. We were walking around the Greenwood area during the car show. My husband, friend and I were had sore feet. We were hot, exhausted and thirsty. However we had eaten a huge pancake breakfast a short while before and were not ready for food. We said why not come in here. The owner was putting up her sandwich board when we started in. The employee said to the woman "hey we have customers." The owner said to her. "They just want to sit." I said but we want to buy something to drink also. We were rudely denied entry. The restaurant was completely empty. We live in that neighborhood. We love to eat out and enjoy running into new and different places to eat. It is probably that we would have come back to eat very soon. However after that very rude rebuff we will never visit that establishment again. Lady you lost 3 potential customers.

I went in yesterday, but the address on Google is incorrect. Its actually: 9614 16th Ave SW Seattle, WA 98106. The owner Tina is incredibly nice. She walked me through the store which is very large, bit enough for events and dancing. Im excited for when they have cooking classes. They have a variety of ingredients for Portuguese cooking and a large selection of Portuguese wines red & white & ports. A great find!
