First off. BethEliz is a snob. I will not judge a resturant based upon my tasting of one entree one time. These are great people that I have gotten food from many times. I believe that it is one family that runs it. Tonight there is record snow with the governor giving warnings not to drive and he delivered it personally in less than one hour for FREE. how could you complain about that? All of the standard dishes are great. They are fresh as well. I have always been satisfied with my orders which usually consist of orange chicken, bbq pork, chow mein, ham fried rice, and curry prawns. With more people like betheliz these places will fade out and we will only be left with the larger franchised companies. Remember, self owned buisnesses can have a heart, and large companies screw you and have the excuse of policy.

The food we ordered was over cooked, and the meat was tough. We ordered to dine-in. The dining area was like the cafeteria at my kids school. Service was somewhat subdued, meaning we were the only customers, and it seemed to take a minute to acknowledge us, even though their was someone right behind the front counter. We waited about 10 minutes for our food to come out to us. Our food was drenched in sauce, and we barely ate any their before we asked for "to-go bags." We thought maybe it would be okay after taking it home, reheating it. NOPE! Our total bill for two entrees was just under $20. **I DO NOT Recommend this place.**

Its really as bad as the worst reviews on here. Im not sure what happened to Happy Garden. I remember 2 years ago it was really nice but now, I can describe the food in one word: OLD. The meat was old and dark/chewy. I am reading some of the reviews from people in hotels ordering this because its downtown. Just dont do it!! This is not representative of Seattle (at least I hope it hasnt become the norm because this was TERRIBLE). I spent 40$ and had to throw it away :( We really tried but Im too scared of how awfully old this meat is to even risk it.

The person on the other end of the phone is always so happy to take your order. It is so refreshing to call somewhere for something and have them actually seem to care. The food is what I would call San Francisco style Chinese food. For a San Franciscan its almost like comfort food. The food is consistent. The portions are generous and they are the only Chinese restaurant that still delivers to Capitol Hill. Give them a shot, I dont think you will be disappointed.

I usually order in from another place, tried Happy Garden and I dont know how they stay in business. My prawns were not prawns, they were tough little shrimp coated in a thick, cold batter. My pork and noodles, Im not sure what was all in it, awful, tough pork. My 2 eggs rolls were greasy, greasy. I had to throw 95% of the whole order away. Will never, ever order anything from this place again!

I love Happy Garden! I have NEVER been disappointed! My favorite dishes from here are: King Pao Chicken, General Tsos, Sweet & Sour Pork or Chicken and Special Chow Mein. Their BBQ pork is also good. Its my favorite place to order from when Im at work.

The food is good here but it looks like a dump on the inside. They have an old sign hanging up inside that doesnt even have the menu. They have lamented ones instead. They lady couldnt charge my card because someone was one the phone ordering food.

I used to order from here from time to time. Tonight we got sweet and sour chicken. My husband bit into a piece of chicken and pulled out a long thin strip of metal. It looked like a part of a Brillo pad. Dont thing we will order here again. :(

Always great in a pinch, but the food will surprise your culinary assumptions. Chinese is diverse, but a good homestyle meal is nice. Not mainstream or Americhinese cuisine. Great people serve real food.

Tasty Chinese food for take out or eat in. Hey, its 3rd Avenue in Seattle, so dont kook for ambiance. If youre looking for good, fast and affordable Chinese food, this is the place!

Its amazing that the only good chinese food I can find is in Michigan and the east coast. I think taste buds are messed up around here...from covering fish breath with garlic! Blah

Even after over a decade of missing out on this great little gem, the food is still just like it was then! Fantastic! The special fried rice is the best in Seattle!

Pretty excellent for a take-out kind of Chinese place. Only place that delivers in the Downtown area that doesnt taste like dirt. Way to go!

Beware if you order delivery. The drivers are rude and aggressive. They also didnt give me rice with my meal like they were supposed to.

The special fried rice with hot oil is the bomb. But beware, will give you the squirts. Hence the nickname "Happy Toilet!"
