I just ate at Girin for the first time tonight, and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to write a review right away. This is a lovely spot, both for food and atmosphere, and I thought the staff were unusually nice - just a great place all around. Standouts for me were the kimchi mandu (I had them steamed rather than fried) and the bibim guksu (spicy buckwheat noodles). I havent eaten much Korean food, so I was new to the fermented spirit called makgeolli - none in my party had ever tried it before - and we ordered one kettle. Actually, we wound up ordering two kettles...I highly recommend that you try this! I thought it was delicious, a really unexpected flavor - a bit like nigori sake but far more complex, and not as sweet. Our server told us that their home-brewed makgeolli will be available starting in April, and to quote her: "its ten times better than this stuff." That ALONE will have me coming back. Oh yeah, I should also mention the house-made ice cream. Seldom have I tried better. Wow. So, Id suggest coming during happy hour, getting your drinks and small bites ordered, and then exploring the main menu. Save room for banana ice cream.

I was really excited to hear that Girin was brewing their own makgeolli. I cant tell if they filtered all the rice flavor out of it, but it didnt have the signature milky consistency that you expect from makgeolli. In fact, if I had it blindly, I would have had no idea it was makgeolli. Our group ordered quite a few dishes off the happy hour food menu. I enjoyed the chicken wings, ribs, and the fried oysters, but wouldnt really call them true Korean style and more of a fusion style dish. The jap chae was too sweet and the kimchi pancake was pretty bland. For a Friday afternoon happy hour, they were understaffed. It took a while to get any of our food and getting a drink was difficult as well. If youre looking for an introduction to Korean flavors, this is a good spot to go to, but wouldnt call it very authentic as most of it is an interpretation of Korean food.

Went for Valentines day. First course: Amazing tartar. Def. something new and fresh. Second course: Flaming soup. Flaming in that it was super spicy. Girlfriend couldnt eat it, and it was hard for me to eat it too. Very poor dish. -- Oysters Course -- I mean, theyre oysters... Third course: Noodle dish, not sure what it was. I wasnt too much of a fan, but the sauce on it was good. Girlfriend liked it more than I. Fourth Course: Meats. Solid steak. Sausage was okay. Pork belly was good. The extra dishes were generally good. The kimchi here was a lot more mild than what Im used to (Was a good thing!) Fifth Course: Desert was a great ending to a pretty poor middle. Staff was amazing, the atmosphere was great. I just like food more than these two, hence 2 missing stars.

This is my favorite upscale Korean restaurant in Seattle. The Ssam is fantastic. The chicken wings are hands down the best chicken wings out side of David Changs chicken in NYC. The menu prices have gone down but, theyve cut out some of the extra items that came with Ssam which will hopefully make it more approachable to the average diner. I can understand that business move even though it will be missed by us. Everything is still tasty and amazing. Favorite go to spot.

I was worried because it wasnt traditional Korean food it would be disappointing but it wasnt. The kimchi jigae was fantastic. Warm and slightly spicy with the right kimchi tartness. Bulgogi was a little sweet but also good and the short rib ssam was delicious. Cocktails were pretty god too. This is also one of the prettiest restaurants in Seattle. For some reason while Seattle had decent restaurants many of them are not as upscale looking as their food would imply.

I love Korean food and this is a fusion gem, so it is a great way for newbies to Korean cuisine to try something new and exotic. Wonderful food and setting- the fresh Kimchi was great - staff and service were excellent. They brew their own Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) which is the best I have ever had (watch it though as it will sneak up on you as I discovered the next morning !)

Our favorite Korean restaurant in Seattle. Usually quite busy during weekends and dinner hours. We always order Gochujang fried chicken wings. They are delicious! Last time we visited, seemed like they took away brand name Makgeollis off their menu and only had house made ones for pretty high price :( They have a full bar so I ended up having a cocktail.

Girin is great for groups. I have come here several times with a large group, and its worth it to order family style. The food is delicious, but not mind-blowing. Its a little out of the way if youre not going to an event in Sodo. That being said, both times I went I was in the area already, and both times I left very satisfied with my meal.

Upscale Korean near the stadiums - easy street parking in Pioneer Square (free after 6 pm) on non-game days that also arent First Thursdays. Monday nights are worth a visit for fried chicken, with an amazing sweet and spicy sauce. Tried a special of Iberico pork loin on a recent visit that was perfectly roasted and decadently succulent.

Great Asian fusion restaurant by the stadiums! You MUST try the chicken wings! They are small, but amazing! Happy hour is great as it offers a better value for appetizers and other light dishes, which are pricey for their portion size. The whiskey based cocktails were nothing to write home about, but the food is amazing! Bon appetit!

Quality food with exceptional service. Not the Korean BBQ that most people are familiar with, but definitely an excellent alternative. One thing they got right that even other Korean BBQ places didnt is that banchan is unlimited with a plethora of options (not gonna name names). I will absolutely be coming back!

A review of HH menu this time. Had a 1/2 lb burger and a steak sandwich. The Burger was ok. But the steak sandwich was terrible. What an embarrassment for a steak joint. This item needs to be removed from the HH menu. Stick with the hamburger. It was about what we expected for 7$!

Amazing Korean style food. The ssam is the highlight and their drawcard here. Also (for us Aussies anyway) the food was relatively cheap for a place that seemed upmarket. Great interior and was treated well by staff. The beef tongue bulgogi was my favourite. And the Bossam of course.

Place is on the pricey side but then what is not with a stupid $15 min wage in Seattle. Food portion size is on the smaller side, married to Korean, this place is more fusion and seasoning seemed to make me burp food over and over. Will only go if company paid outing, otherwise pass.

Absolutely incredible food. The entire experience is fantastic. Wait staff is very friendly and willing to explain the menu (for those of us that dont speak Korean). The flavors are incredible and the portions are well matched to the price. We will definitely be returning here often.
