I speak from a largelly uncultured (regarding korean food) perspective, but I still believe a tummy can know good fare when it encounters it, and regarding Ho Soon Yis tofu soup and (complimentary) side dishes, this tummy says 9/10. Most of the menu is on the mid-pricey side, although I think my tofu soup was worth every cent of the $8 or $9 I paid for it (and wait for the complimentary rice digestive tea after paying the check!). Waits can be long - I recommend not arriving during the typical dinner rush-hour, or sending someone in your party ahead to scout wait times.

This place has one of the best bulgogis Ive had in the area - especially the pork. It has a smokiness to it I havent tasted elsewhere, and is absolutely delicious. Just perfect. Also recommend the kimchi pancake appetizer. Its slightly heavier on the onions than I like, but its really really darn good anyhow. The banchan are tasty, and they bring you a nice little cup of cold sikhye (sweet rice beverage) to finish off your meal.

Foods taste just ok. Definitely not deserve 4.5 stars! We had gingseng chicken but no gingseng taste, not even a bit. It just can be called a chicken soup. Beef was way too sweet! Service not that good. No response if u asked for more utensils for the sharing dish. Server just ignored us. We tried a lot of korean foods in US and Canada. This one only deserve 2 stars.

Ho Soon Yi is one of the older restaurants in Korea town and continues to be popular. The lunch specials are excellent. You can get many different options for under $10. The Bi Bim Bop is an especially great deal - $6.95. My daughter and I both ate a nice lunch today for less than $15 before tip! Friendly wait staff and plenty of parking. Its well worth a visit!

Do not order the spicy cod soup. They use frozen cod instead of fresh cod which tastes really dry and rubbery. The soup base itself tasted good and all the sides were tasty. When I told the waitress the cod didnt taste good she said its because they use frozen cod. She recommended the halibut next time since its fresh.

If you want an authentic Korean meal then eat at Ho Soon Yi! I had the pork bulgogi and it was excellent. I couldnt have asked for a better meal. I had left overs for lunch the next. The portions were outstanding. I love having Ho Soon Yi so close to my house, they make dinner come true. Thank you Ho Soon Yi

Pulling up there was no cars in the parking lot and the place was dead. I was thinking it would be mediocre and was actually quite impressed. About 20 dollars a plate which is a bit much but the food was really good and service was adequate. (As it should be when you are only person in the restaurant)

I drive 1hr plus tolls for this place, the service is friendly and the portions are pretty extreme (at least it was a few months ago) kinda pricy, but they do have lunch specials. I love the dessert drink you get at the end. This is one of the few places I tip greater then 10%

Its almost a historic place in Tacoma. They held out through the onslaught of emerging competition such as Gangnam and Palace. But their price and quality have stagnated. Not particularly bad but they really need to update their menu and side dish offerings to stay competitive.

This place is heaven on earth. The banchan is crazy delicious, and they just keep it coming! My favorite dish is simple but delicious -- bibimbap. The bulgolgi is incredible as well.
