Go to Popeyes Instead Two stars because I didnt get sick and the place was clean. Skillet was overrated and expensive (I wouldve skipped had I known this restaurant was created by the same chef); Bok A Bok is the same for me. It is a hip - conveniently-on-every-trendy-blogs Top Ten - new restaurant everybody keeps writing about, serving a gross misrepresentation of a better dish. Its lazy, commoditized "comfort food" (the same problem I had with Skillet -- track down Jemils Big Easy for real Southern Comfort Food). It is the furthest thing from "authentic" in regards to Asian cuisine. The "Korean BBQ" sauce tasted like the base youd use for mapo tofu (fermented soy beans), provided you never cooked it and just served it cold. Whatever name they had for their soy-ginger sauce tasted like Mr. Yoshidas Teriyaki sauce. It felt totally out of place, but tasted much better than the former. The exterior was cracker-crunchy with huge air pockets; there was no discernable seasoning to the breading, outside of the last minute dusting of flavorless chili powder. Ive read that the exterior was supposed to be similar to tempura. That is not at all accurate. If you want good tempura, check out Toshios, North of Little Saigon. If youre going to do fried chicken, at least change and clean the fry oil frequently. My chicken thighs tasted of burnt breading and rancid fry oil. The chicken itself was moist, but the (pre-cooked?) meat was not trimmed properly; which created huge pockets of chicken fat in the end product. I dont know why the uptick in hipster chefs seem to think White Center is the place to charge people $10 for two mediocre pieces of chicken, but thats what you get at Bok A Bok. Skip it. Save your money. Go to the taco truck next door or check out Proletariat Pizza for better and cheaper food. The good news is: Popeyes is coming this year, right down the street.

I went opening week so I will need to go back to try them again. Love they have beer on the menu. It was a bit of a wait when my friend and I arrived. It wasnt busy or full just yet, maybe 8 of us in there but prepared to wait for a bit. We ordered fried chicken, chicken wings, kimchee mac and cheese, and biscuit. So the biscuit was awesome. Light and fluffy, how I like it. Mac and cheese I would highly recommend, great cheesy flavor mixed with kimchee. The fried chicken disappointed a bit. The skin was nice and crispy, however, the way it was served allowed the oil to collect at the bottom which caused the crispy skin to get soggy in oil. Not good for fried chicken. While the batter was light and crisp there was a sweetness to it that caught me off guard like perhaps they used a potato starch or rice flour. Interesting take but it had a chewy texture I wasnt fond of. The chicken itself was tender and juicy, not dried out at all.

Soo good! Fried Chicken with an Asian twist. I had the fried chicken tenders with kimchi rice bowl add on. The portion size was good for the price. Chicken was light and crispy. My husband ordered the soy sesame chicken sandwich. He loved it. I felt the soy dipping sauce was a little too salty for my taste, but I usually dont like things very salty. I havent tried the other sauces. The place is tiny and crowded. Dont expect a seat right away. I tried to place an order for pick up, but they were not set up for that at the time (1 month ago). No doubt youll be waiting for a little while to get your food! The soju slushies are a good option if wait times are long and you are over 21. Even with the wait youll feel like it was worth it when you take your first bite! Next time Im planning on trying the homemade biscuits!

I had high hopes for this place. I love Korean style fried chicken. I was disappointed that they separated all the different chicken parts and not just had a whole chicken option that is pretty common with most Korean places. We just went with the wings. The batter was alright though I wouldnt say its completely Korean style. We also got the kimchi mac & cheese as well as the kimchi fries and Korean chicken sandwich. The sandwich was pretty good. The mac & cheese was not my favorite. It was too rich for me and the kimchi didnt really compliment it well in my opinion. The kimchi fries were pretty good, but thought it would have been better if the kimchi was sauteed. Im willing to give this spot another chance, but wasnt too impressed the first time.

Decided to go after reading all the great reviews. I was hoping to enjoy some tasty authentic Korean fried chickens at this place. But...I was disappointed. The fried chicken is not greasy very crunchy outside and tender inside, which I like. However its not very flavourful, you kinda have to dip it in the sauce to get some flavor going. I was especially disappointed with the kimchi rice I ordered. Zero taste!! The kimchi that came with the rice was bland! I end up need to pour the soy sauce(came with the fried chicken) all over the rice in order to eat it. If you like non greasy, extra crunchy yet tender fried chicken serve in a clean setting, this is the place for you. Oh...and the acholic slushy was not bad., Worth a try.

I dig the chicken here, it might be the best fried chicken in West Seattle. The fry is light and crispy and the meat is tender and cooked perfectly. You can get the chicken on its own or in a sandwich, either are great. Definitely try all the sauces and find your favorite. The sandwiches are ranked in order of spiciness, #1 being the least. I usually have the #2 and enjoy the hell out of it. Once or twice the bun has been cold and soft, maybe even soggy, but the dikon slaw adds some crunch. The Veg offering here is tasty rice bowl. The sides of note are kimchi Mac, the slaw, and the tots.

Winner winner! The sesame soy chicken sandwich is hands down, by far, the best sandwich Ive ever had, and if you like siracha on your mac n cheese you have to try the kim chi mac. Ive cooked and eaten all over seattle, nothing compares to bok a bok. There are some real chefs cooking in this kitchen that not only make the best fried chicken in town, they elevate it with a Korean flare thats you would expect to find in a place like white center, only the establishment is probably the cleanest in the area. I will be back to try the #2 beef sandwich tomorrow.

The best fried chicken Ive had in Washington. The crunch on the chicken is simply amazing and will stay with you long after you eat the chicken. I consider myself a connoisseur of fried chicken and this is easily Top 3 Best. The kimchi Mac n Cheese is not to be missed as it is DELICIOUS! How have I gone this long without it?! Definitely a place that deserves multiple vista as I cannot imagine that all the chicken sandwiches and strips are amazing. TREAT YO SELF and GO!

I like Bok a Book a lot. The chicken was lightly battered but extremely crunchy, not soggy. This was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! The only reason for 4 stars was the bun was straight of out the bag.. slightly cold..If it was just heated or toasted it would have been perfect. The fries and tater tots were also wonderful. The Kimchi Mac n cheese was good, cheesy but not spicy as I would have imaged and loved. Overall great place and friendly staff.
