My first yelp review ever. Im usually ridiculously lazy to write a review but I will make an exception. This Bon Chon was extremely disappointing (Ive been to the 1 in Los Angeles and I absolutely loved it but I heard that they closed down that location recently). Due to the lack of competition in San Jose, I can understand how they are doing well. But I will not be surprised if this location closes down soon. The quality of the food was pretty decent from what I remember (its been at least 6 months since eating here). I wish I could offer a more up to date review on the food itself but I cant... because I was never served last time. I waited and waited for an hour after the waitress took my order. She never checked up on me ONCE. I know that after I sat down, the place started to get busy so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited. But I couldnt wait any longer so I tried to ask her for an update on the food, and immediately the waitress cuts me off and says she will check on it. About 15 minutes later, nothing... So I just got up and went to the cashier to pay for my drink and fries then the waitress came running up to me and says that they lost my ticket. LOST THE TICKET??? But even then I wasnt mad, I just didnt want to wait any longer and then I realized that the waitress never even apologized for the delay. Normally I would have just let it go but her attitude just stunned me. I receive better service at McDonalds than here. I am more disgruntled at the owner of the place than the waitress though. Doing nothing to fix the issue of having waitresses with no manner and a kitchen full of incompetent people. People might like your food but sooner or later everyone will realize how horrible your service is unless you fix it.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE ! ! ! I can not hate this place more, this is the worst dinning experience Ive ever had in the bay area. I mean Ive been to a LOT of restaurants, and I normally dont give 1 star reviews. Oh boy, where to even begin with, I hate pretty much everything in this restaurant, the food, the service, the hygiene, the seating, the decor... The place is so jam-packed and ill-smelled, the hygiene is awful, our seat is next to the restroom where you cannot help but notice the smell and dirty walls. Theres even dirty cloth on the floor!! The waitress was so rude when she saw us bringing in a bubble tea from the tea place next door. She said they cannot have outside beverages, not even if I just dont drink it and leave it on the table, and she says it with a very disrespectful tone. They need the beverage to be put on the floor which is GREASY AND DISGUSTING, or to be put in the refrigerator. Of course we didnt agree. And the waitress said she would have to ask the manager. And the manager comes, even ruder than the waitress, he says “Dont you see there is a big ass sign right there?!” Excuse me?!?! This is how a manager treat his customer?!?! The food was not good either, Ive been to 4-5 Bonchon Chicken before, and this place just not as good as others. The meat is tough and overcooked, not as flavorful as other Bonchons, especially the spicy ones. We were only half way through our meal, and theres been three waitresses wanting to kick us out by asking "do you need a box to go or are you still working on it." I would never go to this place ever again.

This is the place to go if you ever crave a perfectly fried chicken. Bon Chon really does know how to fry a chicken! I came here for lunch wanting to try their famous chicken! I have been a long time 99 chicken fan, and so I was skeptical trying this place. I wouldnt say its better overall but they do some have something over 99 chicken, and that is how they fry their chicken. 99 chicken has the sauce but this place has the chicken. I got their seasoned curly fries to start off with. It was yummy (: they put cheese on top which was interesting. Although I liked the fries not sure if I would get it again, it was about $5 for a small basket. My friends and I got their large mixed combo which came with 4 drumsticks, 12 wings, and 2 sides for $19. It was definitely worth it. Their drumsticks are HUGEEE. i dont know how they find them but holy cow they are gigantic. We got their soy garlic and spicy hot garlic sauce. The Soy Garlic is way better in my opinion! It was savory, sweet, and salty whereas the spicy garlic was just spicy and salty. I would recommend their soy garlic. The chicken was fried to perfection. It was so crispy and the chicken was juicy (: YUMMM! We also got the kimchi coleslaw which I lovveeeeeeeeed. Best side to get because it was delicious, a nice spin to a traditional coleslaw. Overall I would pick 99 chicken over this place because for me, Im really big on sauce and 99 chicken has that plus their sides are free. But if you just want fried chicken, then go here!

This is the WORST Bonchon Ive ever been to (others are: New York Korean Town, Philadelphia China Town, south San Jose), in terms of sanity, taste of food, and especially their BAD SERVICE! Its a small site, and we were seating next to the restroom. It was very hard trying not to notice the disgusting stains on the wall near us, and the smell. I dont know if they treat food the same way, but Im very worried if Im going to get a stomachache out of it. The chicken wings here are not as crispy as in other sites, also the spicy ones are not as spicy. Their SERVICE WAS SO BAD. We drove 25 min here, got 20 pieces of chicken and fried dumplings for just 2 of us (because I loved other Bonchons Ive been to). Then I got a bubble tea from next door and came back in. Right after I took the first sip, a waitress came and said they have a policy of NOT ALLOWING OUTSIDE BEVERAGES, with a tone sounding like I owe her 2 million dollars. She said there was a note on the door. However the only thing I noticed was a picture of Obama, showing how popular they are. I refused to let them take our drink, but agreed not to take any other sip. They emphasis thats their policy and wouldnt allow it! The manager came and said if I want to keep it to myself, I need to put it on the floor (which looks DISGUSTINGLY UNHYGIENIC!). Finally I let them took my bubble tea away. I wont come to this place again ever, and will tell all my friends to go to other sites if they want some Bonchon.

This is a review for their customer service. I had a pretty terrible experience with their service. We waited patiently for 50 minutes for our food, but after the next table who had just sat down received their food within 5-10 minutes we decided to just ask for them to box it. The waitress not only cut us off in the middle of asking, she waved her finger in our faces. Not once did anyone let us know what was going on, nor did they even check up on us. We knew it was busy, thats why we waited for so long but at some point we cant sit there forever. So we decided to leave and just pay for the two sodas and basket of fries, as soon as the waitress saw us going to the cashier she tried to justify the wait time by saying your ticket was lost. There was no apology on her end, which really rubbed us the wrong way. I asked for a comment card, but the cashier said that I would need to talk to the waitress about it. Whats the point of discussing it with her when she clearly didnt care. I dont think Ill go back, granted there areny many Korean chicken places in the bay service is first for me. If they were in k-town LA they wouldnt last with this kind of service.
