It seems that a while back people had some decent things to say about this place, but I have nothing thats very positive. The wait staff is unbelievably pushy and hostile. It seems that they want you to leave as quickly as possible so they can fill up the restaurant. Even when there is plenty of space left to separate families and give everyone room, they insist on piling people on top of one another which means people pushing and shoving. My family and I went there for Christmas as nothing else was open. They charged almost double what they usually do and claimed it as a "dinner buffet" when we went for lunch. They did not tell us how much we would pay and the waitress we got was rude. She delivered cold tea and a glass of water; never once asking if I wanted a refill on the water. She constantly hovered over us grabbing our plates the moment we even looked like we were finished eating, but werent. The food was cold, so anything fried tasted like it was from the freezer. They even had the air conditioning going when it was snowing outside. How in the world does that even make sense? After twenty minutes of eating my family and I were trying to have a conversation and the waitress just dropped the bill, basically gesturing us to get the heck out. We had to go to the bathroom and left our things there, obviously wanting to return. My dad was waiting to pay the bill, but the cash register attendant ignored him, so he sat back down. Of course the waitress was about to sit someone else in our spot when our things were still there. Not kidding! Then she couldnt sit the family there, so she sat them next to us. I couldnt get my winter coat out of my seat because she piled people on top of us, and lets say we all felt uncomfortable. They even checked on us in the bathroom. I cant shake the feeling of them trying to get everyone out the door as fast they can to earn money. We give tips for service that went above and beyond the call of duty. This was not even close to subpar service. We have went there several times and they are always hostile like this. I dont appreciate being seated on top of people and pushed out the door when I paid. I definitely wouldnt recommend this place.

This place used to be good several years ago and my husband and I used to go there quite frequently, but over the last few years, the food has been absolutely disgusting and the service has been equally horrible. Today, we went there for the first time in about 2 years. We had stopped going for a couple of years because of how poor our experiences had been the last few times we had been there. We figured wed give it a try today as it had been quite some time since we had been there and we thought wed give it another chance and see if things had improved. Bad idea!! The food was cold and did not taste right at all. The lo mein noodles and the crab rangoon were like rubber and the sushi was just downright disgusting. I had to stop eating because it was so bad. On top of the horrible food, the service was completely lacking. When we needed refills on our drinks, our waiter was nowhere to be found. We finally had to flag down another waiter to get us our drinks. We also had to wait forever for someone to bring us our check. We literally sat there waiting for our check for a good half an hour, but our waiter was still MIA and no one had brought us our check. My husband finally got up and went to the front cash register to get someone to bring us our check so that we could get out of there. The woman at the cash register had to go and find our waiter and get him to bring it to us. Needless to say, he did not get a tip. Its really too bad. When this buffet first opened back around 2003 or 2004, it was much better and we would go all the time, but it has definitely gone severely downhill over the years. We absolutely will never go back there. I dont normally write reviews like this, but I felt the need to warn others to stay away from this place at all costs. My stomach is still feeling a bit queasy from eating there today. If you want a decent Chinese/American buffet in Bangor, go to Oriental Jade. At least their food is always fresh and the wait staff is much better.

I like the food, but the service... Not so much. The restaurant opens at 10:00am today, I get there at 9:50 and wait for the open sign to turn on. When it turns on I walk inside and ask if the buffet is open, because I was picking up and dropping off a lunch to somebody before I went to work. The lady told me the buffet is not open, but their website clearly states that it is. She explains to me that they just opened and thats why.... Shouldnt a restaurant be ready to serve food when they open their doors?? I asked how long up l the food was ready for me to make a take out plate, she told me 15 minutes. I waited 20 minutes and there still wasnt a morsel of food to be served in the buffet. Four staff member repeatedly walked by me, none which made eye contact, none smiled, none said good morning, just plain rude. I didnt exactly feel welcomed, I felt like a burden. It was embarrassing to me. I left without food and wont be going back.

As someone whos visited China multiple times, I can attest that much of the food is authentic — but still lacking in selection. The food is delicious, the service is good, and Ive always had a good time. If the waitresses arent too busy, they even let me practice my Chinese with them. I would ignore zephyr: I often eat here, and the staff is always friendly to me and Ive never seen any such behavior. I think zephyr may be a disgruntled ex-employee or a jealous competitor. There are many good places to eat Chinese food in Bangor — but Happy China Buffet has the largest, most diverse, and most inexpensive options.

Ahh, this place is amazing!! I was very skeptical at first but it was amazing. We went around 1 pm on a Sunday and it was $8.99 per person. Best buffet Ive ever been to - There were so many selections. Lots of desserts, sushi, buns, american food, and of course the traditional Chinese cuisine. So much variety. Im vegetarian and I piled 3 plates full of different foods. Everything was warm and fresh. Hot tea was free and one guy was making sure one whole half of the restaurant had all their plates bused away.

Best Chinese buffet in Bangor and surrounding areas. Great price for adults, and kids are priced according to age, so its a great deal. Plenty of Chinese, American and some Japanese food (impressive sushi selection.) Healthy options, most is MSG free. Ample, comfortable seating, nice ambience, clean bathrooms. The staff is pleasant, always. Good wasabi!

VERY BAD SERVICE- Spouse had buffet, sat and was eating as I sat there for 15-20 minutes before I was finally approached to find out if I was going to have the buffet. After I asked and received a menu. Plus, there was only 3 other people in the restaurant. Needless to say, I had to take my food to go. Dont go unless you want bad service!!
