I know that some people here do not rate Guads (Guadalajara) Mexican Restaurant 5/5 because of "bad service" or "terrible food" but let me tell you, the service, setting, and service was great. My dads family is from Mexico and most Mexican restaurants dont send an authentic "Mexican vibe" because they just have hard-shelled tacos with cheese and tomatoes, etc. and no jalapeños, and plain old mariachi songs like "Cielito Lindo" and "El Mariachi Loco" and "Jarabe Tapatío (Mexican Hat Dance)". Guads has street tacos that they actually sell in Mexico, with different types of sauces on the side, and even better--they have "Medio litro" (500ml) Coca-Cola from Mexico! But what really brought out the Mexican vibe was the music. Instead of "traditional" and "authentic" mariachi music (which is the only Mexican music that everyone in the whole world knows right?), they played what music is actually "hot" and in-style in Mexico right now-- Banda and norteño, which are classified as "Regional Mexican music". Banda is all brass instruments with a polka-style rhythm and norteño is typically an accordion, guitar, and sousaphone, with a polka-style rhythm, but still--some mariachi music is cool, too. To sum it up--the music there is awesome! Finally, the service, which is probably the most important aspect to a restaurant: one man was running the "waiting" and he was great. He did not mess up, and was very polite. The food came out in an easy 5-10 minutes after we ordered! The things you need to do are sit outside, whether at night or day, and order Mexican Coke. It actually feels like youre in the outskirts of the city of Guadalajara, from which the restaurant was named after. My family and I were in Virginia Beach for vacation, so if youre a local and havent gone, or a tourist wanting good Mexican food, I highly recommend Guads (Guadalajara) Mexican Restaurant to everybody. I give you a friendly pat on the back if you read this all!

In Short: Too expensive to justify even the best of their food. Some Food was awesome, some was OK. The tables, ambience and taste were average... A noisy street side restaurant. Service was good, not great. Many mistakes... Example, they did not bring us any silver after we asked twice or thrice, brought us guacamole but no Chips and we had to ask twice. No one was rude. Seafood soup special was awesome. Portions good. But prices too high to justify anything we got. Chicken Fajitas and taco salad were... may be average.

Looking at the building I thought it would be a cheesy Mexican food restaurant. The lobby and dining area was clean and neat. With one server staffed for the evening I expected service to be slow. However, the one waiter knew his stuff and took care of each customer as if they were the only ones. Before we ordered we enjoyed a good mild salsa. As a vegetarian I appreciated the veggie section of the menu and very much enjoyed my enchilada. Over all nice place, hard working local stop.

Another reviewer mentioned they should have eaten at Taco Bell. Thats a put down on Taco Bell. Queso fresh from the microwave. Salsa that had the familiar hint of ketchup. Chicken nachos that were soggy ( I dont even know how its possible to make soggy nachos). Add a margarita, glass of wine, and 3 kids smoothies and the bill came to $78. Thats right. Two apps, 3 smoothies, and two drinks was $78.

I visited here from New York originally from Cali and this is Not Mexican food whatsoever. The chicken tasted like hospital food the cheese wasnt melted, the margaritas were the good thing about our experience. DONT GET the quesadilla the guacamole was straight from a CAN & it was very soggy. DO not go here even if its the last thing open. Btw the chips and salsa were pretty good

Bad service! Bad attitude and absolutely horrible food... The frozen drink was yuck and the food was soggy and horribly presented! When the manager was told about it his attitude was worse and he actually asked us to leave and wat somewhere else...seriously the worst place I have been to in my entire lifetime.

This is by far the best mexican in Virginia beach. Their menu has had a complete overhaul and the meals look gorgeous and taste great. I receive Excellent service everytime and I really wish they received the volume they deserve. They mix it up with great specials and Im always excited to go back.

Not just one of the worst Mexican meals Ive ever had. Flat out of one of worst meals. Ever. "RIBEYE" steak was an iron pressed slab of mystery meat. Replacement meal, grilled chicken. Iron pressed slab of chicken mystery meat. Folks were very very nice but how does a human eat this food?!

This place was horrible, service was horrible, took forever to get drinks, food, order and then was about to just get up and leave when finally they brought our food. Took over a hour to bring our food out, we only got 2 menus for 6 people and the food wasnt that good.

Service not the best, food, not so great and overpriced. My bf ordered a beef burrito that was no better than Taco Bell. I ordered a crab quesedilla which was more like a crab taco which wasnt what I was looking for. Paid too much for too little.

Awesome food, friendly staff. I ordered fajitas and there was enough to feed 2 people, at least. It looks like I didnt even eat any. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good meal in the air conditioning, or you can eat in the covered patio.

Low quality food, not authentic Mexican cooked food. Waitress disrespectful when confronted for charging extra for food not ordered, this because gratuity its included and they want customers consume more so they get more. Never come back again.

Food was Nasty, I honestly think it was cat food or dog food. The meat was not cooked and mushy. When I told the waitress we didnt like it, she took my chips and salsa. We still paid full price. Do not go there. It was Nasty

Our waiter was extremely friendly and our food came quick on a busy Saturday night. Besides that the food was pretty good and the place had one of the best salsas I have tasted.
