The food was so good that I ended up eating two full dishes and stayed twice as much longer. The waitresses were awesome. I thought about whether to give this 3-star or not, because the crowd gathered there was a little loud for my taste and I felt like I didnt fit in. I am brown, non-American, and I usually expect to feel very welcomed at mexican places. But, this place, though has mexican menu, is very American. So, I did get a lot of stares from the crowd (like Im some kind of security threat), but the waitresses were extremely welcoming and helpful. I will think twice about going here, because I loved the restaurant/staff, but not the crowd/ambience. So, 4-star it is.

Dont go here if you intend to catch a good buzz. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Waited 15 minutes for a drink, after being acknowledged. Then finally a bartender comes asks what we were drinking takes 5 minutes to get the drinks. Then charged more than the first time for the same exact order. We got charged for tall glasses. That is insane. Being a bartender I know how shits supposed to be done. Seemed like a big a scheme. Bartenders werent really nice either. If I come back for vacation I will never go there again. Id rather go to harpoon larrys! P.S. They spill most of the liquor on the bar and not in the glass. And dont even clean it up. We had to.

Lets be fair, the fish tacos are really good, although, some had a little fish, some had a lot. The hot sauce is really good too. Awesome prices on BOGO nights. Crowded bar atmosphere. Here is my peeve; it took FOREVER to get our food. We had to return to the car to add more money to the meter. The food was so good that we WERE going to return..... Until two hours later. Its a real shame. Waitress (who did a decent job) blamed it on a table of 30 that came in. I believe that if your business gets heavy customer turnout your kitchen should be able to handle it, simply bad management there.

Quick service, great server. A kind of loud local bar with good food. I got the scallop tacos and a few margaritas. Both were delicious. We sat inside on the smoking side. At first, when we walked in, I didnt notice there was two sides. The smoking side is in the main area and was lively and and playing various punk and ska music while showing sports and surfing on the various tvs. A nice suprise and a good time was had. Not sure if this would be a great place for a large family with kids but it suited us that night. Definitely will be back.

Happened upon this place because we didnt want to wait an hour for our table at Tautogs. Turned out to be the best decision. Very little wait time, food was so amazing, and our server Mary was remarkably good. We had chips and queso and salsa, both were perfect. Then ordered steak fajitas, which were marinated to perfection. The salsas served alongside the fajitas were very good as well. Whenever my wife and I venture back to Virginia Beach, we will be making a point to come back to this cantina.

Having been coming for many years. This was once a place I went on my anniversary. Now Im there every other week. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Smoking and non-smoking sections with seating options for both. I personally love the taco salad. Prices seem like theyre high, but you get a lot of food for your money. I consider this a local favorite. I work for a hotel a couple blocks away and I recommend all of my customers to Baja Cantina.

Gentleman with a beard playing pool was friendly and helpful. He helped us get a table and waitress. I assume he was an off the clock employee. It looked to be more of a local bar/restaurant. Waitress was the worst! Our party was 4 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 infant. The service was so bad we left after a round of drinks to go eat dinner somewhere else. What ended up being $96 spent at another business could have been theirs if not for her.

A bar that serves food, turned out to be a great choice for an early dinner with my family (2 adults, 3 kids). At first glance a dark, dirty old bar, but on closer inspection a clean comfortable informal place to relax and chow down. We had various fish tacos (magi magi, grilled, fried, etc.) and fajitas, all delicious, and experimented with the various hot sauces at the table. Definitely recommended!

First place I have ever had fish tacos 5 years ago and I have tried multiple other places up and down the east coast from Florida all the way to Maine and nothing compares to this place. Very happy to have had another order of their fish tacos today after 4 years of disappointments. This is the only place I will ever have a fish taco. Premium blackened fish is the best!! Baja Cantina has great tacos and beers for an affordable price. I recommend the fish tacos but skip the beans and rice. The tacos are large so you will not miss the beans and rice. They have a nice patio out front but it fills up fast. The tacos are not "authentic" but are plenty good. The place is really dark inside but appears to be clean. If you are at the ocean front make sure to check them out.

Over an hour after we placed our order and repeated prompts to the waitress our food had not been delivered. We were told a bunch of tickets were sent to the kitchen at the same time. We got up to leave and told her to cancel the order as wed waited over an hour and noticed the place was pretty empty. Not sure what was going on with the kitchen, but the waitress tried to argue with us. We left.

Just a heads up, the interior here is very very dark and dingy. The service is friendly. Except for, I guess it’s the cook who is behind the bar, and he wouldn’t help the one waitress with anything. When he isn’t doing anything, he should greet customers instead of just saying that the waitress will be around. The food was out quickly and was good. I wish they had had or offered a drink menu.

Ok... So we get there and wait along time to be acknowledged and to even get our drink order in. But with that being said the Food was absolutely Delicious and not one single complaint from our family of 7 in regards to the food. I recommend the food hands down !! But if you would like quick speedy service this may not be the place for you !! However good things do come to those who wait !!

TIP: Get the premium blackened fish nachos. My new #1 favorite nach, hands down. Absolutely amazing flavor unlike anyother, the sause on top is still the awesome! I cant wait to return. Service was slower but honest. She let us know before taking are drink order there was a 30 min wait on food. Almost left but glad I waited. Best food I have had in a long time. Thank you!

the food was ok, the key issue for me was this was far more cantina than baja. It was just a bar(full of smoke) with a small smoke free side room. Based on the reviews I took my 4 and 6 year olds because the love fish tacos but had no idea it was a full bar including an x rated bathroom.
