This place has the most wasted potential I have ever seen in a restaurant and it is solely the fault of the owner for being blinded enough by his ambition to hire women who are pretty and almost comically ineffective at their jobs as servers. Every time I walk in I feel as though its something personal, and I almosy wish it was. The sad truth is that they treat just about everyone else with the same poor service. At one point, many years I had hopes that with time the service would get better but unfortunately it is the same slow, unwelcoming, indifferent, unattentive service as when it first opened. This place has, without a doubt in my mind, the best authentic Mexican and Salvadorean food in the area. With the proper staff Tipicos Los Amigos would be the go-to restaurant for these type of dishes but until the owner decides to train their staff to at least smile at the customers when they walk in, it will just be my takeout choice. Anyone who is thinking about going here, do yourselves a favor and get the food to go because supporting the servers lack of service is not worth your hard earned dollars.

Worst Mexican place ever!! Its very unkept and not clean. The booths are falling apart. The staff are not friendly and not helpful. They act as if they have better things to do then take my order!! Our server was very rude, and they dont have much on the menu...except cow tongue. This place is disgusting!! I would re come d never wasting your time, money, and health in a disgusting place like this!!! I wish I could giving them zero stars was an option! I had such an awful experience they dont even deserve 1 star! Not even a 1 star! Customer service was horrible. No waiter can to the table until after few minutes and chips and salsa were brought over to table late. When drinks came out 1 kids drink was missing and then half the order came out. Took almost 10 minutes for the other half of food to come out. Order was also incorrect. Multiple times asked for ketchup and silverware. When it was finally brought out, there was not enough for the entire table. Our waitress Mary never came back to ask how everything was. Asked for manager twice and no one came out and then told manager was out. Not going back!

Not sure about all the reviews that mention poor service. I had the opposite experience. I received, fast, friendly and courteous service. There were at least four other groups of people who arrived for lunch while I was there and they were all treated similarly. Food was delicious and fresh tasting. I had a bean and cheese pupusas that was outstanding. The shrimp taco was similarly good although the chicken taco was a bit on the dry side. My whole meal was under $10. All in all a great experience. I will be definitely going back and hopefully will have a repeat experience.

Awful service, nothing special about the food. I got seat right away but waiters never came, other people come after me got seat and served right away. Im not tolerate that stupid behavior, its make me feel on the wrong place. Thanks God we have a lot of choices, I immediately stand up and leave. After I was out,I called the place trying to contact the manager and theres no way to speak with him Very surprising they start saying that is no manager at the time, very awkward Three thumbs down for that place

Awful service. Went for lunch and no one was there to seat me...waited for 5 minutes and someone finally handed me a menu...I waited 15 more minutes for someone to take my order and no one came back. They werent even busy. Not going back. Wasted 20 mins of my lunch break for that.

Very cute place with an outdoor patio and fresh flowers. The Salvadoran ceviche is excellent and huge compared to most places. Every thing else was excellent, streak nachos fajitas and shrimp soft tacos. I would recommend it.

Great food. Service was a little slow. This is one of the only spots in Northern Virginia that serves true Mexican food. (Its easy to find food from El Salvador, Bolivia, etc, but not Mexican)
