Nanjings buffet... its very basic. noodles, beef and broccoli, etc etc They also have a small selection of sushi... You can also make a to go order. I came solo on my first try... i cant say i was impressed but it wasnt bad. The sushi was good quality and the buffet items were pretty good too. The first time i had 4 plates. left fairly satisfied. 2nd time i came by myself again.... but this time on my 3rd plate the waitress came over and put a check on the table... this was before i was finished. i ignored it and got a 4th plate but noticed that the general tsos chicken that i was eating... they didnt restock it. i asked them to restock it and the waitress replied it would be 15 or 20 minutes. 15 or 20 minutes? how could it take that long? they wanted me to leave is what it was. I wasnt going to be treated like that... so i waited a little bit. After 15 minutes no more general tsos had been brought out... I asked why. they ignored me. i asked again. Some older lady walked out from the back and asked me “ how long you are here??” i said i was here for a little over 1 hour. she replied “ ohhhh OK... well” I said “ Well what?” She asked me “Do you work, or have a job... or a girlfriend? ” I asked her what that has to do with anything, that I was here to eat. I then politely asked them once again, to restock the general tsos chicken. They did... but very reluctantly. On my way out I told them they should never do that to a paying customer... The older lady replied to me “ You will never find a girlfriend” I made sure she said what i thought she said. i asked her “ I will never find a girlfriend?” She said “ Never!” I said i had one. Which i do, ignored them and walked out. Thats actually pretty creepy they would ask questions like that and just all around bad they would treat me like that. I am a big guy 6ft 3 / 220lbs. Of course Im going to eat a lot! They need to improve a lot.... their customer service is horrible...

If a "Picture paints a thousand words", then my experience dining at Nanjing Chinese Restaurant deserves ten thousand! From the moment I walked into the simple, yet authentically decorated establishment, I knew I was in the right place! Now, you wont see any wall 500 lb wall murals flown in from Peking, nor will you see a 10,000 gallon fish tank that spans the length of the restaurant. What you will see is a very diverse and plentiful variety of cuisine that will satisfy even the pickiest eater. The meats were so tender they melt without effort in your mouth...the balance of flavors in every dish exceeded those found even in dining halls twice the price. There was one significant "failure" I must confess. Try as I did, I just could not get my drink glass below half full before one of the helpful wait staff came and filled it up! A truly remarkable restaurant eliciting a truly remarkable dining experience!

I have been to Nanjing quite a few times. The buffet just is not cutting it. They changed hands and they are still doing bad. Before, the owner, Amy Akers (Amy was a very americanised chinese woman. So americanised, she cant speak mandarin chinese, and mainly speaks english.) Amy did an OK job, and it was decent but they still had problems. They have more problems now. I saw flies galore in the restaurant on my visit Sat. Nov 12 2016, and when I told the manager, the manager simply walked to the back and said they had something important to do. Never came back out to the front. I asked the young girl working the cash register what the manager was doing that was so important and she just said *Shes washing dishes*. Washing dishes couldnt wait? She just didnt want to hear my complaint. I wonder where all the flies come from? Its getting cold out. Maybe the restaurant is their breeding ground.

Found hair in what was "supposed" to be chicken and the lady told me that I should have saved the hair that I picked out of my food .....for this 1 star doesnt even do justice I just wanted the money back I spent they told me that probably could make me another portion maybe with or without hair in guess for me to find out disgusting place horrible customer service not

While the buffet selection at times might be slim looking, the staff is very upfront in letting you know they will cater to your needs and wants. Its not a high end, pricey restaurant but they turn out good food with friendly service. Well worth a visit and a try.

This is my favorite Chinese food in Roanoke. Lunch and dinner buffet is absolutely the most delicious food around. Excellent variety of different dishes. Starting with the best Hot Sour soup anywhere. Cant say enough about how much I love this place.

Went to this place a year ago and seen the mother of all roaches there! When I pointed out the one of the staff he just stomped on it and said "Oh thank you". I tried calling the health department but kept getting the run around.

HORRIBLE used to be awesome now new owner or whatever but it is AWFUL!!! I was shocked how bad, and VERY little on buffet now compared to what is used to be. Even have a groupon left that I will NOT GO BACK AND USE!!!

The buffet and the service are outstanding but my favorite dish is the Szechuan Beef. It is one of favorite meals period and by far the best chinese dish I have ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and try it!
