I was going to a conference in the area and staying at the Hotel Roanoke and really wanted Thai food. I looked at the menu and decided to get them a try. When I got to the location, it took them about 10 minutes for me to be seated because they werent paying attention to the door. Once my friend and I were seated, it was another 5 minutes before the waitress came but instead of asking us for our drink order she asked us "So what are you getting?" in a clipped tone. I placed my order for Veggie Pad Thai and a Virgin Mango daiquiri and my friend ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, plain with no veggies. We received water shortly after this but as it was really hot outside (about 85 degrees) we drank it quickly. We watched the water girl refill several tables but she kept skipping up. After about 10 minutes of this, I have to wave her down to get a refill and she gives me a hostile look for asking. Finally we get our food and my friends food is wrong. It is completely filled with vegetables so that is immediately sent back. I start eating my Pad Thai and it has little black pieces of char in it so I have that sent back as well. After I send my food back, it was then that I got my mango daiquiri. I would like to say that they were not busy during this time, there were three tables including ours. So after waiting another 10 minutes, we receive our food again. My friends food looks okay only, I see the black char on her food now too. She starts to eat her chicken and finds a long blonde hair in her food (the cook was blonde, both of us along with the server was a brunette). Still she was really hungry and put that piece to the side and starts to dip her food in the sauce. It was insanely hot, not sweet and sour at all!!! As this is going on with her, I start trying to eat my food and see the black char in my food again. As I was looking my food over, I realized what it was. It is the coating of the wok. They were using woks so old that the Teflon coating was falling out into the food! I call the server over and let her know about the hair and the coating in the food. She wanted to know if we wanted to try anything else. I let her know that since their woks were falling apart, we would just get another daiquiri and then we would go. As she leaves, she states very loudly "this is such bull****!" I was appalled. The server and other workers were actively talking about other customers and using other profanity. After we get the daiquiris, we drink them in short order and let the server know that we will take the check now. 15 minutes later she causally lets me know that I dont have to pay for anything. WORST experience ever at a restaurant and I would never recommend that anyone subject themselves to that.

When we arrived for lunch around noon, there were a few open tables but the restaurant quickly filled up. Its obvious this is a very popular weekday lunch spot for all the people who work downtown. They offer a good variety of lunch entrees along with their regular entrees, soups, salads, appetizers, etc. and most of the lunch entrees are priced around $7-$9. All the entrees are also served with a small salad, making the price and value very reasonable. To start the meal, we ordered the pork dumplings as an appetizer. One twist I liked about the dumplings was the addition of fresh cilantro, which added another layer of flavor I wasnt expecting. While I had a tough time choosing my entree, I decided to order the Drunken Noodles with chicken - and I requested the dish be prepared with a mild amount of spice/heat. This dish was great! It was loaded with chicken and fresh vegetables (peppers, onions, tomatoes) and the Thai rice noodles were cooked perfectly. There was a good amount of spice, but not so much that I was unable to taste the rest of the ingredients. Id highly recommend this dish, especially to someone who might be unfamiliar with Thai cuisine.

We were instantly greeted by what appeared to be the owner, Mr. Tong. The Thai iced tea was delicious and constantly refilled. We started with sausage and dumplings. The sausage was thin sliced on a bed of lettuce and shredded cabbage, accompanied by a delicious red sauce similar to red Thai curry. The dumplings were delicious and beautiful with a sesame sauce. Mr. Tong also brought out a complimentary plate of shrimp chips. The fresh made beef curry with large chunks of fork tender beef, carrots, potatoes and onions. It reminded me of an Asian pot roast. The staff was inviting and friendly. About $50 for 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 bevs. I went home with left overs. Its located with in walking distance of the Hotel Roanoke in the historic market area of downtown Roanoke. Enjoy!

In a word, AMAZING!!! This was the first time I have had Thai food, and I cant believe I have been missing it all of my life!!! Adam says that this place was on par with places he used to go to in Seattle and almost as good as the places in San Diego. To get this quality of Thai food in San Diego, Seattle, or Los Angeles you would have to pay three times the price. The atmosphere was friendly, cozy and intimate. The place across the street even had a wonderful Band playing which enhanced the meal with solid, crunchy blues licks delivered over an understated drum lead. The owner was friendly and his son absolutely adorable. They made us feel welcome and appreciated, so much so we are going back on Saturday to try their breakfast. More reviews to follow! :o)

The food was ok not every Thai place makes their food the same but the moment we werent happy with one of dishes because it was just mush we asked to please take it back and we would order another dish and if had to would pay for the dish we sent back. The waitress got really offended and became very rude after that. Even had another waiter serve us. We werent rude to her and even tried to keep it pleasant but she was upset I guess cause we said the food looked mushy and we didnt like our noodles that way. We are used to our noodles a certain way and mushy is not one. This was our first time there and did not leave with a good impression of the staff or the food.

Went in for lunch havent been here in a long time. Im going to be honest as possible. Thought they had lunch special but that is long gone so I didnt mind paying for good food but I was wrong. The food was at best ok. I had the green curry and it was one of the most salty curry I have ever had. Im not the one to ever complain and I have had thai food both good and bad but this ranked down there at the bottom. 10$ not includint taxes and tip for a small bowl of curry and rice doesnt really justify me going to a place like this for lunch. I ate here before and always had a great meal I think they either changed owner or chefs and it shows in the quality of the food.
