Having read the recent excellent reviews, dined with two friends on 11/14/15. From the website exterior photo we imagined a quaint and historical Virgiinia spot, especially for one of our company being a guest to Virginia. Upon entering we were sadly disappointed. While some appreciate the ultra-modern flair, we did not. It was an upsetting diverse contrast of outside facade and inside design. The modern wall art, the white table chairs, and stark lighting were out of character. The colored barcode artwork was strange, to say the least. I will add the modern art is pleasing, but displayed in the appropriate setting. We were seated, given only two menus – told menus in short supply, despite only 50% filled with guests, given no water, no greeting by the waitress…. Waited several minutes; we seemed to not exist. Drinks were finally ordered; one removed before completely finished. Food was ok taste-wise. The wedge salad appeared to be appetizing; the crab cakes, while of good flavor, potatoes and vegetables seemed hastily put on the plate, pushed to one side – definitely lacking in presentation. Dessert, crème brulee, varied. One was crusty on the top, the other rather soggy. Yes, this was an experience, much for us to comment on. Our anticipated fine dining experience for three ladies did not happen. We left saying our own conversation saved the evening. Would we try this again? Perhaps. Maybe the outside dining mentioned in other reviews.

Very very pleased with everything about the Flint Hill Inn, both the inn and the restaurant. First, we wanted a weekend away from the city last minute with our dog, but all of their dog friendly rooms were taken (first of all: awesome that theyre so dog friendly). On the off chance something could be done, we emailed and the management was super quick, nice, and helpful to work something out with us so that we could stay here with our pup. The room was very large and cutely decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant and the salmon was absolutely amazing. All of our food was fantastic, but that particularly stood out, it was the best meal we had all weekend. The service was also really good and the waiter was fun. Saturday they had live music that was SO good. We were just overall extremely pleased with our weekend here and would not hesitate recommending it or returning. I hope we do!

This was our second time staying at Flint Hill. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are modern and spacious. We were the only guests for the night! We were given a delicious bottle of wine to enjoy when we arrived, which was such a nice touch. The beda are really comfortable and I loved the homey feel created by the common area in the middle of all the rooms. My only complaint was in the cleanliness of the room. It was mostly perfect, but i found hair on the wall in the shower, and the coffee table was pretty dusty. Both of those arent huge complaints, I realize, but are minute details that take a moment for housekeeping to address. Thanks for a lovely stay, Flint Hill, well be back!

The experience at Flint Hill Public House was not all bad, but the reason to go to a restaurant, the food, left little reason to go back. The atmosphere is very nice. The dining rooms inside are beautiful. The grounds outside are lovely. Dining outside is nice & would be wonderful if they didnt allow smoking under the tent. The entertainer was great! Service was attentive & timely. The food was mediocre at best, especially for the price!! Nothing stood out as delicious. In fact, both dishes were too salty! The food should be stand out, especially for their prices. The food should lead the experience, everything else supporting it. Very disappointed in the quality of the dishes.

If you want a 5 star dining experience, this is your place. A nice mix of old and new with local art displayed throughout. Great local brews, wines, and cuisine. You wont find a more professional, friendly, and helpful staff anywhere. The food was top notch and we fed a group of 40 in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. The accommodations at the inn where beautiful, clean, and comfortable. They pay attention to every detail in everything - food, ambiance, and the accommodations!

Never been here, but its got to be better than a tuna salad sandwich from Settles Gas Station down the street in Flint Hill. The view of Settles used car lot isnt all that great so eat here instead, especially if you want to watch the sun go down over the Blue Ridge, which happens around dusk. Watch out for the crepusculars on Crest Hill and 522.

We absolutely love this place. Have some wine from the local winery and then finish off with dinner here. Prices for taste is one of the best weve had in Northern VA. The menu appears to change seasonally as this is our second time and what we had last time was completely different with the same great results.

In January 1992, I stayed at the Schoolhouse Inn, which I assume was the old name. It was my first visit to the United States and I was overwhelmed with how hospitable and friendly the community was. It was a two-week business trip & before the end, everybody knew I was from Saudi Arabia

pricy but the sandwiches are all around 10 bucks and real good. i had the fried oysters as an appetizer and they were great, and the rueben as a entree. one of the better reubens ive had.

The meal was good, but not extraordinary. My mother and husband had a pork shank that was very tasty, but barely warm. Our waitress was sweet--though rather "Daisy Dukes" country.

Historic on the outside, modern on the inside. Flint Hill Public House mixes the best of yesterday and today, including on its menu. Great sampling of local wineries too.

For a pretty prepared menu on Mothers day, the service was terrible and the food was worse. They should have been embarrassed today, their reputation will suffer.
