Ive been coming here for decades. While the service was OK, a bit slow, but good, the whole experience has declined. Portion sizes have dropped immensely while prices have gone way up. Our dinner for 4 was $165. There is less attention to detail. I had asked for an end cut, there were plenty, but telling the server ahead of time should have triggered someone to try and save one for me. All I got was, oh well sorry. Then as I was taking my first bite the server said that if I would have accepted a medium well cut I could have had one. Not that I acknowledged that while I wanted medium, I understood that an end cut probably would be a bit more done. I wasnt happy. My son asked for a medium well cut at $43 and he got something that was horribly over done. For that price it better be perfect. My son and I ordered Ceasar salads instead of the garden salad include with dinner. We had to pay full price for the upgrade yet we didnt get our other salads. They should knock off something since its a swap. Admittedly the salad was very good. They used to offer putting your cut over mesquite for flavor and thats no long available. The prime rib used to come bone in, it was delicious back then. My cut was good, but it could have been much better with the bone in. We had a good time because we enjoyed dining with my son and his girlfriend. That was fabulous, but the food and service could have been better.

Ate there last night with a great 2 for $25 special they were having which included delicious soup, an excellent starter salad (though I have to admit the greens were somewhat limp, but the beets and radishes were a nice touch), choice of potato (the gf took regular house mash(they serve 5 varieties of mash, including a sweet potato mash) I took the sweet potato mash, it was somewhat "wet"), and then a choice of 5oz fillet Mignon, or 10oz prime rib. We both took the filets which were cooked exactly to order. Their flavor was delicious (Not sure if they were even seasoned honestly. Its not like a commercial steak house like longhorn that over seasons your meat) and they were so tender. Let me tell you about the prime rib though anyhow, VERY generous slices. I was so impressed with our servers service (Shannon?) that we left her an $11 tip on a $29 bill (38%). I can see how tightwads complain about the prices, as regular menu prices are slightly higher than normal, but its nothing outrageous as some reviewers might have you believe. And personally, I dont give a crap about how the decor looks, as long as its clean. All that matters to me in a rating is the taste of the food, and the service quality.

My husband and I gave RO another try after 6 years and we were very disappointed. Our Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada were full of ice cubes, half was whipped cream and not sweet at all. The prime rib was dry which I didnt think was possible. They served us corn that was tasteless and looked and taste as if it came out of a can. The ceaser salad which was prepared table side (fancy....not) was wilted and brown and the "lobster" pot...really. My husband and I were just gonna leave and not come back but the owner came over to our table because a waitress overheard us talking about the quality of the food. We told him (because he asked) about our dissatisfaction with the meal and he only made excuses. He then said that they never get complaints and that everyone loves their food. He never offered any compensation ( which we werent expecting) but the next day when I was sharing our experience with a friend, she gasped and said that some friends of hers were there the day before and had a similar experience and their entire meal was comped. $117 later we realize RO.....is still overrated.

It was our anniversary and my husbands 75th bthday. After waiting 40 years to get there we were so disappointed in the food. Our waiter, Steve, was wonderful and so was the lady at the bar. The service was great. Lobster Pot was some kind of crawfish not lobster. Prime rib was dry, cool and tough as was the au jous cool. My mashed potatoes were barely warm, dry and thick. The sesame salad dressing was great. We took the leftovers home and our daughter and son-in-law (who eats everything) couldnt eat it. We are on a fixed income and spending $85 on this meal was disappointing. We also came 35 miles from Rochester area.

My wife, my family and I give the Red Osier a 5 star rating which it richly deserves. Let me tell you of our many experiences there. First, we like to go there to celebrate different family events such as birthdays, mothers day and fathers day as well as when we want a night out. Most importantly, the food, the ambiance, the service, and the price should make the Red Osier a place to put of your to do list. It is our favorite eating place and in fact when our grandchildren come to visit, guess where they want to go? Yes, the Red Osier. Keep up the good work folks! Richard and Fran from Geneseo, NY

After having waited 35 minutes after the time of our reservation, the four of us were in agreement that the ambience is well done at the Red Osier, however, the food is mediocre, at best. The dinner rolls are plain, white supermarket heat n serve and the house salad appears to be bagged salad. The meals were just "ok". The Salmon was very strong -- masked by a heavy sauce, as was the haddock. The Prime Rib -- the Restaurants pride n joy -- was not nearly as good (or thick) as many other restaurants. Disappointed in the experience overall.

It was a special birthday for my wife. It was easy to make reservations and a lady called to confirm a day before. When we arrived, every person we came in contact with was professional and welcomed us. The bartenders were fantastic, and drink were 1/2 price to our surprise. Once we were seated and the waiter handed ever possible need or want without hesitation. Food was great and all 7 people in our group wee pleased. The only bad thing, we were all to full to try desserts. Overall,I was very pleased with Red Osier and cant wait to go back.

Our family has been coming here for over 30years. I was sad this trip. The faint smell of urine reminded me of a nursing home. Three pieces of tableware had good clinging to them. Yuck. The waitress was good, she quickly replaced. The prime rib was extremely tender and moist. However, the flavor just wasnt there. Plain rolls, we did not have desserts. All four of us were disappointed, well, all but Tom. Hell eat anything. Probably wont go there again for a long while.

Food is always good when we go but I must complain about their time limit on gift certificates. They sometimes offer a deal giving some free certificates when you buy the $50.00 one. But they void certificates after 1 year from purchase. They have my money up front, they arent going anywhere and they need to void my gift certificate after a year? I dont like the policy so much that we dont go very often anymore. And definitely wont buy anymore gift certificates from them!
