I consider myself a little bit of an Indian Restaurant connoisseur... I have been to more than 20 different Indian restaurants on the east coast and Shanti is by far one of the best. The curries are prepared extremely well, very well spiced and cooked to perfection. I demand a high standard of service and this place delivers everytime. I stand by my five star rating, having only given that honor out one other time to a restaurant in Rhode Island called Rasoi... I have not been to any of Shantis other locations but considering they have two other sister restaurants opened for more than a decade, they obviously are doing something right. Enjoy!

Did the other reviewers really eat in the same restaurant as our group? Do they live in the same universe? We went there with a professional chef and a highly skilled amateur (both of whom know and love Indian spices) eager with anticipation based on Zagat and other reviews. Hey, the staff were extremely nice and accommodating, the ambiance wasnt horrible, but the food was, sad to say, pure slop. Not just one dish, but in fact every dish. And we stuck to the classics. We were in shock. I suggest Zagat and Boston Magazine make a return visit to see if they step in the same river twice.

If some one is looking for fake Indian food this is the best restaurant to go to. I like how chef doesnt know that biryani is made with basmati rice not regular rice and there was no balance of spices in either of the dishes I ordered. Poor chef making horrible non authentic Indian food. I dont recommend this restaurant to any one looking for authentic Indian food. To non Indian customers this might just do. But to Indian customers AVOID this restaurant at all costs. High price food for very pathetic tasting food. Hey chef hope u learn to cook!!

My husband visited this place many times for lunch buffets, and used to say Naans are very good. so we went for dinner for the first time and this will be the LAST TIME. Vegetable pakoras were not fried properly. we can taste the dough inside. and the WORST PART is we saw a RAT crawling inside curtains. i cant believe my eyes. felt like vomiting what i ate.wont go this this place again, and wont recommend it to my friends.

Tasty and reliable Dorchester Indian restaurant. Its a classic Indian restaurant, concurrently located near the savin hill red line t stop. Supposedly their chicken tikka masala is famous, but we prefer their lamb korma. The samosas are great, and they offer seasonal fare. I have yet to try their lunch buffet, usually I go for dinner. They have been a reliably good restaurant for more than 10 years.

About a month ago, my fiance and I had craving for Indian food. A friend recommended Shanti on Dorchester Ave. We went there during lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see they had a buffet for only 8 bucks! It was delicious and since then, weve been there every week (not exaggerating) for their lunch buffet. Each week they had something different so we basically tried out a lot of things on their menu.

Ive only ordered delivery from this place once and it was clutch. I was very satisfied with my chicken vindaloo, it actually had a good ratio of chicken and potatoes. The roti nd naan were okay the naan was a little gummy so maybe a bit undercooked. I actually shared this with some of my older students who had never had Indian cuisine and they enjoyed the spice and the flavor profiles.

After my second time visiting I was fully convinced this is my favorite place for traditional Indian cuisine, the ambiance is warm and comforting. They were also very accomodating with my vegan requests and the food was amazingly balanced in all its flavors. Did I mention theyre very reasonably priced for lunch buffet at 10 dollars a person!?

Pretty good Bangladesh /indian food. Tasty curries. The chicken patia was very tasty! A great variety of chuntnies dessert was interesting. I wasnt crazy about the chicken torandi and the Tika Masala was left to be desired. But atmosphere was clean with beautiful. I would definitely got back. (Love Indian and Bangladeshi food)

This rating is overdue. The Shanti is a romantic, well priced and fantastic place to eat with your loved one. We had goat simosas and delicious entrees. my only request is that they serve more deserts. Ill definitely be back there. My girlfriend said she didnt really like Indian food and was licking her fingers. lol.

Eaten at Shanti multiple times. The lunch buffet is a great value especially if you dont know your indian food, but because they never seem busy youll want to arrive early when everything is fresh. The Peswarey (sp.) Naan is fabulous. Not overly fond of the Tandori chicken always seems dry. Service is always amazing.

My mom introduced shanti to my wife and I for the buffet. The service was great. The food was excellent, and my wife tried lamb for the first time and loved it, we have since revisited shanti at least half a dozen times and have not had no luck with lamb on the buffet menu again.

This is one of the better Indian Restaurants in the Boston area. I live right around the corner and go at least once a month, usually more often. I think their Tandoori Salmon is amazing and they always have interesting specials (which change every week).

IMO Shanti is the best Indian restaurant in Boston. Quality is so consistent among their three venues. Also their social marketing is quite nice: you are always informed about what is going on, in a non-intrusive way Kudos!

Very good Indian food in an unassuming location. The Chicken Tikka Masala is amongst the best Ive had. Not too spicy, not too creamy, but plenty delicious. If youre craving Indian, I would give these folks a try.

Good lunch buffet, even better when you order fresh. Amazing Tandoori chicken in bulk. Their Tikka Masala sauce is very thin and not as rich as some places. There arent many other good Indian places in Dot center.

I tried this place for the first time 2 years ago. Im still getting used to Indian food because it;s not that common in Boston but every time I try it I love it. Good stuff all around...no complaints

We go here once a week as a team. I enjoy the food, they have either 2 or 1 vegan options available. They have 3 vegetarian options each week. For $10 the food is good and filling.

Great food, fairly cheap for big portions, and some of the best indian food around. Cant go wrong! Also: very close to the Savin Hill T stop, so its really convenient to get to.

The food and service here have been consistently great. It hasnt been too busy or too loud. I dig the music they play and the art on their walls. Its a great spot for a date.
