I have been there twice now and have been totally pleased. I come near closing time so I dont know how the service would be when they are busy, but our waitress (same one both times) was totally friendly and sweet, and the food was sooo yummy. I am no food connoseur but I am very picky over ingredients and both times I was pleasantly surprised over the unique flavors of the dishes which are quite creative. My favorite restaurant is Cheesecake Factory, and since there is nothing comparable in Front Royal this is my new favorite place. My boyfriend loved the Peking Duck sliders (has a sweet cilantro type marinade flavor) and even the chili which normally he doesnt like except for mine. The butterscotch merengue pie is to die for! Also, I love the way this place is decorated too, it makes a nice atmosphere with the unique Griffin artwork everywhere. There is an art gallery upstairs that features local artists which you can see and purchase their art.

This is a great place for having a beer, and some wings (excellent) & other assorted bar food; otherwise, do not go here expecting a great meal or dining experience. Took my family the other night, and the menu is very limited so I order a special - stuffed founder. Unfortunately, the flounder was nothing more than the same exact item you can buy at any Costco..it was not made in the kitchen, simply heated up. The other specials were the same too. Also, it was not cheap either...this is the second time I have been there for dinner, only to be disappointed in the food, and shocked at the price. Also, 4 fried oysters cost $14.00..wow! If you are looking for good atmosphere, nice staff, and some brews with bar food, this is your place...if you are looking for a original and creative dining experience it is not, although it will cost as if it was...

We ate here on a Saturday night when visiting Washington, VA. The entire place (restaurant and bar) were packed! The service did not falter, neither did the food. This is a local hangout which means good food, entertainment and overall good value. That night there was a live band, Robin Limon, so after dinner we headed over to the bar. The music was excellent, the locals were friendly, the drinks were good (not watered down), and even the bartenders were grooving to the music. We had a great time and highly recommend this restaurant and bar.

I have been to this place on a number of occasions and there always seems to be some type of issue. I decided tonight as a group of friends wanted to visit that I would give it another chance. Once again it was overpriced and the service was poor and awkward and the vibe uncomfortable. I have no more time in this lifetime to devote to this establishment as it is evident that whoever is running the show is asleep at the switch.

This place has great food. Especially if you order from the specials. Recently my service has been awesome! So Im going to let the one experience that was quite the opposite go. They do have an out door smoking section and a separate I outdoor non smoking section so be careful about where you get seated. Otherwise overly positive experiences. Great place to stop while out riding!

Great place for a sandwich and a beer. Various spaces for dining, including several quiet rooms, a spacious bar room, and outdoor seating on the front wraparound porch and rear patio. Quick and very courteous service. Only downside was that a pint of draft beer costs $6 (beer prices not listed in the menu) -- pretty steep for this part of Virginia!

I was staying at a local B&B, and trying to decide on somewhere out for Dinner. Griffin Tavern was a really wonderful mix of pleasant setting, relaxed dress, and delicious food. Only downsides are that it was a bit expensive, and had a smaller menu - but if you find those both agreeable on their website, youll enjoy the experience.

Ive eaten here 3 times with the wife, 3rd time was with some other friends. Total of 11 meals, 10 out of 11 were fantastic. The one meal that wasnt enjoyed was replaced with great alternative. Great service. We highly recommend the fish and chips and the pork chops. Also, their on tap cider is top notch.

This place is a hidden gem, pretty cool old colonial house turned into fabulous restaurant/bar! I had the grilled Rock fish in a curry sauce with rice and shrimp and it was amazing!! Staff is very friendly and they also have a great selection of beer, wine, and liquor.

Great brunch! I had the crab cake eggs Benedict, it was excellent. My husband had the pastrami eggs Benedict and loved it as well. Our waitress was new, and she was having a real struggle with things, but that didnt take anything away from the meal, it was excellent.

The Griffin is a landmark in Flint Hill. The only other option is the Public House, a cold sterile environment compared to the warmth and friendliness of the staff at GT. And the food is incredible. Brunch is definitely a must attend if you are around on Sunday!

Great English style pub, complete with a weirdly shaped bar (low clearance), mediocre English food (and good normal food), and even Tennents (terrible Scottish lager) on draft. Particularly popular with bikers, because the roads to get there are fantastic.

We stopped here on our way to Luray Caverns. Delicious food (and lots of it), friendly and attentive staff--an overall wonderful dining experience. Griffin Tavern was a pleasant surprise in a really cute town. Well come back whenever were in the area.

My husband and I love to stop in here for brunch or lunch on Sunday after a walk in Shenandoah NP. Great breakfasts in a lovely, cozy house. Theres a tavern in back which sometimes has live music. Very, very friendly servers, every time.

Good food, but pricey. Charged me a dollar for the olive in my $9 martini! "Tell us about your experience" form suggested email the owner. No response on the olive issue. New partner involved is uninterested in the customer, it seems.

My favorite restaurant; I would recommend getting the Mojo burger, as it is the best of the burgers in my opinion (all of which were contenders in the NOVA Burger-Wars, in which the Griffin Tavern flourished for several rounds).

Burgers and fish and chips are awesome, as is their selection of beers. Ive often come here after long hikes in Shenandoah. Staff is friendly, portions are very generous, and the place is nice and clean. Highly recommended.

Went for lunch and had a steak and cheese sub. It was small and expensive. We were hungry when we left. We were left without a waitress when a large group came in, so no drink refills were offered. Disappointed!

Great little pub in an area with few options - Id rate them the same even if they were surrounded by competition. Small-town feel with large-audience patronage, they offer great meals and a fun atmosphere.

Great spot for a pint and some live music on weekends. Ok pub fare and dinner in the dining room. Outdoor seating for spring summer and fall.
