Having lived in fairfax for only twenty years, there are many restaurants that I still have yet to visit. However, I am sure glad to have finally mustered up enough curiousity for visit this quaint Tex-Mex AKA a self-labeled Southwest Cuisine restaurant, locally owned and operated in Fairfax City. The moment you walk into this restaurant, weather permitting, you immediately want to ask to sit in their new casual patio section, replete with plastic tables and chairs, adorned in green tablecloth, or at their marble bar facing a large HDTV. The friendly wait staff come by first, as we have gotten so accustomed to, with a standard chips and salsa table greet, and offer you delicious margaritas, cold beers, and refreshments. Without delving too much into which specific dishes are to die for and which leave you feeling unsatisfied, pretty much every dish is great, however, I do not really recommend the fish tacos. Unless you really appreciate bland, boring, sauceless fish tacos. Their menu is large and full of choices. Personally some dishes I have tried include their chille con queso, specialty plates, carne asada, fajita platters, chicken tacos, and my favorite, their quesadillas con carne. An affordable and tasty margarita such as their Coyote Cadillac Margarita goes perfect with these flavorful southwest dishes. And dont forget to try their Sunday Brunch, it doesnt disappoint.

Possibly the best Tex-Mex restaurant in Northern Virginia. I wish it was a well-kept secret because then I would always be able to get a table. But word has gotten out and the busy hours and week-end nights will often make for a short wait. The staff are friendly and efficient and the owner has added more tables outside in order to accommodate the larger crowds. Also, she has plans to expand the restaurant in the coming months. I enjoy the standard menu items and the specials. There is also a very good brunch on Sundays and special wine matching dinner specials are spectacular. Monday nights are a great deal as you get wine and food at a special price. I hate the thought that my recommendation may make it even more crowded, but the Coyote Grille deserves more good customers.

Weve been coming here for several years, and we always thought it was very good. We were just there last weekend and the food quality has gone downhill dramatically. The chips and salsa, which used to be great, now taste like they came from a grocery store. The enchiladas are average now. When compared to the Chef on Wheels taco truck that comes to the street near my office, this place is now below average.

its a tiny place where you hardly have room to walk and their food isnt great. the worst part is I found hair in my queso dip and the owner (a short chubby blonde) came out and was so unbelievablaly rude! she tried to tell me it wast my hair when Im a blonde and the hair I found was clearly black! with that type of customer service from an owner I dont know how they are still in business!

I guess I just dont like "Southwestern-style" mexican food. We could have made better from a can at home. Probably on par with Anitas, and more expensive. Our table remained sticky even after our host wiped it down and we waited a long time for everything. All in all, Ill stick with the awesome Tex-Mex options in the area and leave the junk mex to Old El Paso.

Terrible service...and me and my wife were the only people at the bar at 3pm in the afternoon. Youd think they would at least try and help us run up the tab. Not sure theres any tequila in the pre-made magaritas. The sampler platter was just OK. Shrimp were excellent. Taquitos and calmari, not so much. the free Salsa is really really good.

First time here. Everyone was really nice. Every server that passed me said hello in a nonintrusive way. Managers were very welcoming without sounding needy. Most importantly, my Steak Rajas was so fresh and tasty. Absolutely returning to Coyote Grill, and I definitely recommend this place.

Convenient place for a gringo friendly Mexican meal. While not up to he standards of the best Mexican restaurants in California or New Mexico, the food is tasty and well prepared. Good margaritas. Service is friendly and prompt. It is our go to spot when we want a meal on our way home.

Loved the spot in centreville my wife and I went several times a week for happy hour and shoot the breeze with the owner and staff. Great drinks and food. We live in Shirlington and are going to make the trek to fairfax to get our fix tonight! Cant go wrong with these people!

I just moved down the street from this place and came in for the first time a couple weeks ago (have already been back 3 times). The food is always very very good & staff is really friendly. The patio bar is very chill on a nice night. I recommend the salmon & get it blackened.

The tastiest and spiciest Mexican restaurant on Main St. of Fairfax serving fajitas, tacos, salads, desserts and gluten free menus. Clean and lively place perfect for friends & family. Very kind waiters and happy hours on every day of the week makes this place feel like a home.

Food is good and it is usually crowded which can be an issue with service, but that tells you that people want to come here for the food. They have live music every so often which is nice. They could probably move to a bigger place to accomodate for the overcrowding.

Very impressed with the fresh and distinct southwestern flavors. Sarah was very familiar with the menu and even how the dishes were prepared. My only regret is that it took me this many years to stop in. Parking seems a little tight on the shopping center.

Excellent food, very good service, extremely reasonable prices. We have been going to Coyote Grill since the week they opened, and continue to go at least once a week. I cannot imagine what Fairfax City would be like without Tatiana, Juan, and Josh.

Service was incredibly slow even though there was barely anyone in the restaurant at the time. The server took forever to take our drink orders and food and barely ever stopped by the table to see how we were doing. Food was average.

Pretty good food, great dessert and drink prices during happy hour. The inside is way too cramped though, getting through the people was a bit annoying. You are also sitting very close to others as if you came together.

I dont expect authentic Mexican food from this place. But it would be cool if the fake Mexican food was good. Mediocre food with a price tag inconsistent with its quality and execution.

Service is good food needs flavor and would someone tell them that steak is steak not shredded meat. This place blows whoever likes the food here is missing the sense of taste

Great cocktail, shrimp was cooked perfectly and the Chipotle sauce fantastic. Sat on their patio and their heaters kept the cold at bay. Friendly staff and felt right at home!

Ok.... NOOOOO..... This is NOT good food.. Chips are from a bag and salsa from a jar! The rice was hard. Trust me when I say keep driving by and find another restaurant.
