We were visiting gettysburg with family from out of state, and because The Pub across the street was closed due to Mothers Day, decided to go to the Blue and Gray. At first glance the place looked nice and we were greeted by an employee and seated right away. Everything was fine until my 14 yr old sister asked for a plain cheeseburger to which the waiter said "no, we cant do that". Now when a waiter tells you no, you immediately laugh thinking its a joke right.... wrong. Without smiling or an apology, he simply said "Im serious, we cant make just a plain cheesburger". Big brother took over at this point and questioned to which the waiter gave a bogus explanation of the 150th civil war reenactment is going on this year and the owner has changed the menu to coincide with it. He said the only thing they could do is make a pattymelt which is a cheeseburger, but on texas toast. so she got that but wasnt amused by it. furthermore another family member did not like the food she ordered, and when the waiter came back to check on us, he clearly looked at the plate in front of her and the untouched food and still walked off, at the end of the meal, he just simply asked if she wasnt a fan of the food, to which she replied no, and he did not offer a refund or something else to go. While my food was alright, the overall experience was less than satisfactory. I will NOT go there again. **Try The Pub across the street, it is fantastic**

The food at this establishment was amazing. My boyfriend is a Civil War aficionado and its been a goal of his to visit this restaurant so we went here as part of my first visit to Gettysburg. My boyfriend and I purchased the General Hood and General Hancock burgers. The chili on my Hood burger was fantastic. It had a slightly sweet taste to it which complimented the burger. My boyfriend enjoyed everything on his Hancock burger but Im not sure of all the ingredients . You are able to get your burger cooked to your preference. The burger lists about 12 different burgers (six for the Union and six for the Confederates) and the burgers have either a Confederate or a Union flag in them based off of which one you ordered (I liked that cute touch). Each burger had an ingredient tied into each generals home state. The decor was traditional Civil War style as it is Gettysburg after all but situated in a bar. The prices were good, not bumped inflated for the hordes of tourists. I believe the highest priced menu option were a few steaks , which the highest steak meal being $23. Our meal was $24 for two hearty portioned burgers with waffle fries(you can choose yoir sides from two of three option columns) ,two waters and a pink lemonade. We would recommend this place to any locals (We live in Harrisburg. ) and travelers alike.

When we visited in the past couple years, the food was great and the service was wonderful. Atmosphere was good for conversation and it was always crowded (but in a good way). Then came our visit on 10/19/16. Theyve added a multitude of TVs and huge speakers blasting whatever is on the majority of the screens. I couldnt even hear myself think, let alone have a conversation. That is my biggest complaint. Secondly, the corn fritters were basically fried bread dough with a few corn kernels - not what is typically served in every other restaurant Ive ordered them - and they were over-fried. I ordered a BLTA wrap and fries and I think there were 10 waffle fries on my plate and thats it. The overall flavor of the wrap was overpowered by the mayo, but I think it would be great with less. I have enjoyed my visits there in the past, and maybe the TVs/speakers were up loud due to sport season. If thats the case, Ill wait until non-sports season to try and visit again, but the noise was very distracting and made for an unpleasant dining atmosphere. Rating last visit only would be a 1.5, but based on previous visits, I went for a 3, hoping that the atmosphere during our most recent visit isnt how it is every night.

It was horrible experience! I was ignored and mistreated by the waiter after being talked out of my order, I couldnt even have a refill while I had to watch my family eat without me. Im from WV but used to live in PA, when I was little I came to Gettysburg alot. Well I found out about the burger challenge and over the years Ive always wanted to do it,but sadly they were always closed. I finally came when they were open, and had my dream crushed and stamped on for no reason. I came in and ordered the burger challenge and the waiter refused to let me order it because it would be to inconvenient to him. I tried to ask why but he kept brushing me off to take other orders. Finally I stopped trying and then he tried to convince me to order another menu item. Why cant I order the most expensive item on the menu??? After that he straight up ignored me. So since he wouldnt let me order I decided I would be fine with just a drink and had to watch my family eat without me. The waiter didnt try and give me a refill, he didnt even acknowledge my existence the rest of the night. He crushed something I was trying to do since I came to Gettysburg when I was 6. Ill never go back.

My fiancé and I went there for lunch today while we were in Gettysburg and we both got sick and didnt even finish our meals. He got the cheese steak and the bread was soggy ALL the way through. He didnt even finish that or his fries. I got the crab fries as my meal, and it was SO greasy, that I got sick before we even left the restaurant and had to use the restroom. Twice after we left I hacked up crab and grease from there. My whole day was ruined because instead of enjoying Gettysburg I was too sick to even stand up for too, long before I felt like I had to throw up again. I know a lot of people LOVE there, and eat there all the time, personally well never be back again. I dont know if we just got a bad day, or what happened, but it definitely ruined our day.

Several disappointing experiences that made this place nothing special and would have warn away tourists from visiting this place. I would recommend other places if you were to spend one night in the town. The Gettysburg Ghost wings were lukewarm. I notified the server about it, and he denied that there was anything wrong with the wings. You are also not allowed to buy the Picketts Challenge burger unless you were only having it to yourself even though you just wanted to experience it. It is a typical bar and grill with average food and poor service that I would not recommend to tourists. Overall, a disappointing experience. Better go somewhere else so you can still remember Gettysburg fondly

Have been there a few times and the food is always great and usually the service. we have been told more than once the corner booth was for someone who called ahead, we waited a half hour like we were told and the booth was still empty when we went back in. when we asked someone else about it she said we dont really do call ahead. we were sat in the booth next to it and waited 5 minutes and then a larger party of 7 were seated in the corner booth. they were waited on first i think because the waiter was more concerned with a bigger tip, however he didnt get any because they left. holding a booth for almost an hour is rediculous when customers are waiting.
