Among the options for standard Korean fare -- as opposed to specialty or niche restaurants like barbecue joints and fried chicken spots -- Gom Tang E (미련 곰탱이) is among one of my favorites. They have a diverse menu of soups and meat and rice options. I have tried several of them and was very pleased with the flavor and portions. Having lived in Seoul for two years, I have the bar set pretty high on what I expect from Korean food, so I dont believe I am exaggerating when I say that this is some of the best Korean food in the Fairfax County area.

Food was decent, and I enjoyed the soup (although I ended up putting too much salt in mine, though thats no ones fault but my own.) The service wasnt that great though. I went on a weekday for lunch when there werent many other customers and I felt that we were ignored for the most part. The staff werent even serving others, but we never even got our water refilled. The establishment isnt even that big.

Love this place. I almost always get the same thing, Ox Tail Soup with Dumplings and its fantastic. Most of the wait staff dont speak much English but theyre super friendly and always greet you with a smile. Prices are good and most soups come out super fast. Like most Korean restaurants, when you eat in you get a bunch of family style appetizers included. Im pretty sure theyre open 24/7 as well.

I got number 5 and there wasnt much meat. The service was just fine but was very disappointed when they came to ask for more tip. Im 16 and I came during brunch time with my friends when it wasnt busy at all. The waitress came to ask if the food was good. It was fine but the reason why she asked was because she wanted more tips. I was pretty surprised and wouldnt recommend people to come.

They open late at night. Perfect place to stop by and have that warm Korean style soup to end the day. Their soups taste great, just like what it would be like in Korea. I didnt like their bul-go-gi dish though. The meat was all cut up and seemed like it went through a shredder. Nevertheless, I go there for the traditional soups which they do an excellent job with.

Great Service and Best tasting Korean Food I had for a long time. I remember my mothers ox tail soup taste. Very thick bone /ox tail brTruckeroth. Takes long time to cook and to make it this thick. I am so happy now. I feel I am in my mothers kitchen. She passed 10 years ago and I feel goose bumps now. I love this place.

Not good, not bad. The fact that they give you the ingredients to put into the soup is something I could definitely get used to (also something I didnt realize about my appetizers beforehand:). Overall Gom did a nice job of striking my interest in the unexpectedly enigmatic world of korean soups.

Very very good Korean food. Not fancy but authentic for soups and other large sharing portions of food . The biggest kalbi tang EVER. The meat was super tender and lots of it. They also have email a sharable portion of the kalbi tang

Place has good and cheap Korean comfort food. I dont like the layout but it works for the place. Overall well maintained, but I do have issues when I get some greasy plates for self serving.

Dining in this place is always great. Surpisingly, their carryout can be really bad. They forgot the noodles in my kalbi tang and the kalbi was super tough. Lesson learned only dine in here.

Authentic Korean restaurant. Mainly beef soup based menus, which are very popular dishes in Korea, but has surprisingly wide variety. Very good!!
