Im sorry folks! Im from the northeast and Greek food doesnt even look like these plates. The Mousaka was tasteless...not enough spice, meat or potatoes and over did the beshamel cream! then, the Greek salad was so Americanized with iceberg lettuce, 2 kalamata olives and 2 pepprocini peppers! And this was the large Greek salad, come on!! The meatballs were so bland and the sauce was just tomatoes! Do you think some oregano or basil maybe even some garlic might help it taste authentic?!! Whoever is giving these great ratings...you have no idea what authentic Greek food really looks or tastes like!! Stick with cereal and Ill avoid Spartans...I know I will!!

Never disappoints! What a great place to have in your neighborhood. Coming from NY where we lived and died by our devotion to our local Greek Diner, Spartans brings that NY tradition to Virginia. You are always welcomed with a smile and a greeting. Return just a few times and you will be addressed by name and your menu choices will have been memorized. Make it your favorite too and before too long you will be celebrating life events there; birthdays, graduations, etc. The food is homey and consistent with a wide variety to satisfy all palates. Pizzas are a rock solid favorite as are the Greek dishes and salads. Highly recommend!

The self seating part always throws me, but makes sense and thats how things are in europe (from what I remember). Service is usually fast, but sometimes it takes a little effort getting your servers attention since their running around taking care of tables. Menu is good, if you have kids you can get them stuff kids tend to like (burgers, chicken mac and cheese). For the parents you can order from the Greek or Italian sections of the menu. Atmosphere is a little crowded and more cafe like. Nice to have a family friendly place like this thats not a chain.

Let me start off by saying this place has the best pizza by far! Once I tried Xenia’s Favorite Pizza I havent ordered pizza anywhere else when Im in the area. Ive lived in Burke since 2008 and I havent been to Spartans until this year and I was pleasantly surprised! Its a little hole in the wall restaurant so I never payed it any attention, but dont let that stop you from trying out this hidden gem. I would also like to add for you beer and mimosa drinkers that their large pitcher is a good deal.

Always go here and have for years when in Burke. Friendly service, good food, good value, and generous portions. Its always crowded and the place has a warm feel to it. The pizza is solid. My favorite though is the chicken kebab, which are actually four smaller grilled seasoned boneless breasts with rice and grilled vegetables. Makes my mouth water even thinking about it. Not a five diamond anniversary spot, but as comfortable a family hangout spot as you could hope to find.

Spartans has been around for a while and is a Burke "go to" family restaurant. Their Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken Breast is one of my favorites, I like the house dressing its homemade and GOOD! I get it without the green peppers. I recently tried their steak and it was awesome. If you love Iced Tea, be sure to order some, you are served with a glass of tea with a pitcher of tea to keep you happy for a long while! Oh and they give you plenty of ICE with the tea!

Ordered takeout, was told 20 minutes, it took 45 minutes. However, it was worth the wait. The gyro was excellent - piled high with meat, feta, and delicious tzatziki. So good! Wife got the lasagna, it was fine. Got a greek salad, the dressing was very mayonnaise-y and didnt have much flavor...usually a greek salad dressing is oil based with garlic, seasoning, etc. Maybe they put the wrong container of dressing in the bag? Stick to the gyro and youll be happy.

My family have been going to this family friendly resturant for 20+years. Kumar and the staff go out of their way to feel as if you were in their home as an honored guest. Food is always fresh cooked, if you arnt pleased with any aspect of your meal, just say something. I am a retired Flight Attendant and this is by far my favorite authentic Green resturant. Always my first meal when returning home from flying. Good job everyone, Keep it up!!!

I am a big eater, but this place has beaten me on several occasions. Their portions are very generous. The gyros are outstanding, as are the other Greek specialties. They also serve a wide variety of home-style cooked meals, pizza, sandwiches, and burgers. Everyone can find something here. It is a great place for kids too. It is family owned, and the staff is very attentive. As busy as it is, they always seem to remember a face.

The menu has something for everyone in my family and the prices are reasonable. We have eaten there many many times and Ive never had a bad meal or dessert. The wait staff is friendly and meals are normally served quickly. We are especially fond of the Greek house specialities. My daughter loves the omlettes.

Local Greek favorite in Burke. Also serving Italian specialties, pizzas and burgers. Usually crowded. Specials every day written on a board at the door. I recommend the gyro dinner, spaghetti and meatballs, and souvlaki dinner. Large portions, so come hungry. Large tables for groups available.

For a Greek diner, it doesnt get much better than this. The prices are fair, the food is delicious, and the portions are extremely generous. Ive tried many things but always go back to the chicken souvlaki. Super friendly family that owns the place and usually working. Dont miss it!

I love it here. Great place for lunch / dinner with the husband and family. The atmosphere is also great. Been coming for yrs now. I gave it a 4 star out of 5 bc the service can sometimes take long! it just depends on the waitress or waiter. I would recommend this place to ppl.

Ive been coming to Spartans since I was a kid. In all the time thats passed, the service and food has remained excellent. I cant recommend them highly enough. The fact that it can be difficult to find a table some nights speaks volumes. My favorite restaurant in all of Burke.

Great Family Restaurant. Recommend the Club sandwich, Jalapeno Poppers and Buffalo Wings....they are all crunchy and delicious. Very cost effective and great little spot in the Burke neighborhood. Every time I come home I grab lunch with my brother here. Good times

Food is great. Service - well, make sure you have lots of time - lots + get drinks refilled when you see a waiter, dont wait till your drink is low or you will have an empty glass to look at. Unlikely Id return, despite the good food.

This place is not the finist dinning experience in the world, its a place where you can eat lunch for $12 and have a great meal. Some of you need to have realistic expectations. Its not a $50 meal.
