Los Toltecos receives these 3 stars based on outstanding customer service, very attentive wait staff, clean venue/bathrooms, delicious drinks and some fun karaoke....did anyone else notice that I failed to mention their food??? Aaaagggg, allow me tell my tale. This little venue was not hard to find (note that parking is free, but limited). The co-workers and I usually pick a different eatery--a different type of cuisine--if you will, to visit & catch up once a month. One of my coworkers, whos Mexican-American, made a sidebar remark that Los Toltecos food wasnt really authentic. Clue #1, if a native says that.....RUNNNNN. I was warned. We all arrive....our area is setup, waitress is rockin, drinks are flowing & the atmosphere is lively. The food though.....not so much. Clue #2 was the bland, very bland guacamole!!! I can make fresher, better-tasting guac than what these jokers placed in front of me. Ughh. The seafood dish I ordered (Veracruz Parrillada) was so "not good". I know, I know, you dont go to a Mexican restaurant and order seafood....but I thought heck, they couldnt even get the guac right, surely they cant screw up some fish, scallops and shrimp. Yep, it happened. I ended up eating that sometimes random side plate w/the lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream & refried beans. I was so upset....and hungry. Karoake was fun though--you can tell theyve invested quite the pretty penny in the system. But listen, with all the positive attributes this venue has, they will lose business if the food isnt good. Ive had better, much better. Probably wont give it another go.

I love the atmosphere here! When the weather is warm, they have a great outdoor patio area where you can just relax and enjoy your food and company. This is a great place to relax after coming home from work. The chips and salsa are great, the serving sizes are HUGE, and the food is always good. Theres a large menu to choose from but my favorite is the Toltecos Cochinita Pibil. The pork is just so tender and the spices are just amazing. Only complaint is that its usually a bit salty but probably on par with the average restaurant saltiness. Definitely one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants!

Very Disappointed! I placed a to go order via phone. Upon arrival, I was NOT greeted. I waited and waited still no one acknowledged me. I walked to the bar and was ignored some more. Eventually a woman slid a couple of napkins in front of me and asked what I was drinking. I told her I was there to pick up an order. She ignored me again. Ten minutes later my order was placed on the counter, w/o confirmation, along side the bill. The order was all wrong!!! NOT LIKELY to return!

I really want to give them .25 stars. I was craving a taco salad for days. I found it on the menu at LT. I ordered it to go and since I was rushing I did not examine it. When I opened my salad, I was shocked. There was so much liquid in it that the shell collapsed. What I expected to be beef had the consistency of dog food. I put everything in a bowl trying to salvage what I could but the taste was disgusting. Did I just go there on the wrong night or is this typical?

Service was good. Food was not. They make their quesadilla with American cheese, which was a red flag from the start. The beef burrito I ordered was bland and mostly refried beans (not described as such and not worth the price). The tacos were equally lackluster. The high rating on this place must be driven by the lack of options in the vicinity, as its in a bummer location on Duke street. Not even the water tasted good.

Good food, friendly staff, and even though theyre always busy, Ive never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. Ive eaten here dozens of times, and can highly recommend the enchiladas poblanas, the cochinita pibil, the tamales, and the chimichangas. I love carne asada, but the version here is more tough and salty than i prefer, although its certainly bad. And not for nothing, but their salsa is pretty great too.

This was a fun place, just up the road on Duke Street. When you enter you get the sense that this is a neighborhood place - It was Trivia night when I visited and there were plenty of people eating, drinking and enjoying the game - The food and staff were wonderful. I suspect this will be on my frequently visited list

Fairly quick and tasty. Service was prompt, food cans quickly and nice staff. I got the carnitas with the toreanos, which was a smart move. I loved the roasted jalapenos/onions. Also got the queso dip with chorizo. We had heard the dip was a bad thing about this place; not true, at least when the chorizo is involved!

The chips are made fresh as most everything on the menu- the salsa Rico with fresh cilantro and the flan is made in house too. Flavors are good and they dont lose the salt shaker! Great service, atmosphere and clean fresh restrooms. Will come back to eat outside when the weather is good :)

Went here one-two months ago with a friend had an amazing experince, food was great and customer service was fantastic. Went today food was good but the customer service was not great. We waited 30 min after finishing our meal to get the attention from the server just to get our check.

Been here twice, both visits a few years apart. The first time, service was very slow... My wife almost finished her meal before mine came out. The second time was quicker, but for still want very special. Average Mexican food, good if you live close by.

Above average Mexican food. Great drink prices. Staff (and management) are extremely friendly. They are always putting on different events like bingo, karaoke, and trivia nights. Lucky to have within walking distance. Extremely kid friendly.

While it may not be the best Mexican food, we are in Virginia afterall, its the best Ive found in this area. Ive been here a few times and have to to expect cold beer, good food and good service. Try it out, you wont be disappointed.

Literally everything was OK. Host: ok. Service: ok. Drinks: ok. Food: ok. Parking: crowded. Price: ok. Probably wont go back, unless Im in a really bad place emotionally, like the sad part of Wedding Crashers.

It is a decent Tex-Mex place. The quick lunch menu is the best option I have found for this type of food. The food is good, but not the best around. The place is clean and the service is attentive and friendly.

Food has good flavors and large servings. Its different than hat you may be used to in the southwest. Its the best we have had in the area. The service has been good and attentive without being intrusive.

Best.Chorizo.Queso.Dip.Ever. Great local feel in this place. Bingo on Wednesdays, Kareoke on Fridays ... great, consistent food everyday. Good selection of tequila. ...and the chori queso dip is unreal.

Food is good, almost like the real homemade thing. Parking is very limited and sometimes it can be difficult to turn into the lot. Service is awesome. Price is cheap for the area and proportions are big.
