Ive been trying every korean place on 236 (of which there are many) and through out the area, the Kal Bi here is by far the best in the area. The option of a low priced / all you can eat buffet is pretty hard to pass up as well - especially when its packed with nice selections like roast duck, tempura, high quality (though small serving size) sushi (but hey - take as many as you want and as many trips as you want =)), and of course all the "cook it yourself" meat and vegetable selections you can want. Still - that being said, I would recommend having the chef make you a dish that you really enjoy at least once - while the experience of making your own stuff is a great social fun thing to do ... having the dishes professionally prepared is not a bad thing - and sometimes the difference is dramatic. I think I do a fair job of cooking my own, whatever it is - but the perfectly caramelized touch of the chef cooking each piece to perfection is amazing and almost a whole other dish compared to the personally cooked style sometimes. Additionally - theres a large selection of meals not available through the buffet that shouldnt be missed, the soups, seafood pancake, bibimbap (dulsot bibimbap is especially good - a fried rice dish with as much spice as you wish to stir in, all served in a hot stone pot which allows you to crisp the ingredients if you wish... just delicious) All in all - everything Ive had from the kitchen has been fantastic, everything Ive had from the buffet has been very nice (especially for buffet food) and the sushi is even well done (though again - made small for understandable reasons.) - finish off with the available salads, fruits, desserts, cinnamon punch, cakes and even the selection of rices... Its really worth the trip. Buffet is cheap for weekday lunches (though the same quality of food) - otherwise expect to pay 20ish per meal for everybody, plus a little for drinks (nice bar available as well.) Serves until about 1030 or 11, but is open till around 2 for drinks and such. (If you have an absolute craving for korean bbq after 11 - I *highly* recommend Ye Chon down the road where 236 meets 495 - my 2nd place choice for high quality food, but 1st for friendliness *and* its open 24/7 =))

My boyfriend recommended this place, we went there New Years Eve and I wont be back. The place was crowded but we got seated quickly. It was 8:30PM so maybe they werent stocking up the buffet as well. The meats looked a little gray and but I got the bul gogi and pork belly and my boyfriend got the spicy pork. I picked up some items from the buffet, the warming trays with pepper steak, sesame chicken and the tempura items were low on items and what I did get was passable. When we got back to our table with the meats, the waitress dumped both plates on the cooker and mixed the 3 meats together, yeah, once it was cooked you couldnt tell what was what. The pork belly was flavorless and limp, and tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The waitress was going between 4 tables cutting food with the same scissors and turning the food with the same chopsticks. Since patrons bring the meat from the buffet to the table themselves, theres no accounting for their handling of the meat so seems like each table should have their own set of chopsticks and scissors to cut or cook the food with. There is a sign that says if you take an excessive amount of meat you have to pay by the pound for what you dont eat so my boyfriend ate all of the mixed up meat. After the waitress turned our burner off and left the area, we never saw her, even for a water refill and we had to wave to a busboy to help us. I guess once youve had Woo Lae Oak or even Mee Ga in Fairfax, you expect certain standards of cleanliness and service.

A great Korean bbq buffet. The atmosphere is very nice, with a lot of dark wood, making it a bit more formal than other kbbq buffets in the area -but not a place where youre required to dress up. This makes it great for special occasions. I usually come with a small group of friends, but Ive noticed larger, secluded areas for bigger parties. Food-wise, most items are great. Theres a mixture of Japanese and Korean cuisine, complete with a sushi bar. They even have some Chinese and Thai dishes. The sushi was ok. Whats great is the collection of korean pancakes, tempura, various meat/tofu dishes, and vegetables. There are table-top grills for the meats, which are well-marinated. Theres bulgogi, galbi, spicy chicken, and a couple types of pork belly, all of which are pretty good. They also have soups and a couple of types of rice (bean rice, fried rice, steamed rice). Dessert bar is a bit bare, but when youre having all-you-can-eat meat, screw dessert. Overall, one of the stand out Korean buffets in the area. It can be a little pricey, with dinners at almost $30, but worth it for a special occasion.

I havent been here in years, but decided to stop by couple weeks ago after hearing that the place has made some changes. They really changed up the menu, bar area and quality of food. I stopped in after 10 PM for their late night buffet special. It runs around $20 you get all the typical meat fixings with egg, bean paste soup and your choice of dessert. The new salad bar has fresh kale salad, sliced avocado, usual ban chan and a miso soup station. What youll notice as well is the waitresses will bring you out a large plate of sushi. Around 10-15 pieces per person some nigiri, California and rainbow type rolls. Im not sure how long the sushi has been sitting in the fridge, but its mediocre at best. This is my new go to late night Korean BBQ place. Prices are reasonable, waitresses always take care of you and the meat is fresh not frozen when it comes out.

Restaurante buffet Coreano!!

Food was good, but not $25 each plus drinks good. $120 total after tip for two adults and two kids. Maybe $25 for the adults, but for small children it should be more like $10. The service was excellent. Staff was very helpful and was happy to explain everything. The sushi was also good, but for the price Yamazato was both better and cheaper. There were three primary parts to the buffet: Korean bbq, which is raw meat you choose and they cook it for you at the table, the buffet, which reminds me of a typical Chinese buffet, and the sushi bar.

This place isnt bad. Lunch is worth a trip but its not worth it for dinner prices. You cannot expect honey-pig or yechan quality meat at the buffet, but you can eat much more of it. There is a lot of Chinese and Japanese food as well. The service and wait are both pretty good considering the popularity of the restaurant. I would rather use my fifty dollars to buy three dishes done really well at another korean restaurant than eat a large quantity of mediocre dishes at Heebeen. Its a buffet though, so you get what you pay for.
