I use to love Cafe Rio....until today. And it only takes one bad experience with me, then Im done. I live in Sandy Utah and been coming to this location for the past two years. Theres only one thing that I ever order from Cafe Rio and thats the salmon salad. Today I arrived home with my order as always,...Im looking forward to eating and putting a hurting on my salmon salad.Lol But not today.. As I started on my salad Ive noticed I had way more greens then usual. I figured oh! Cool! More greens! After a couple of minutes of eating greens, with my fork I started to dig around for my salmon. Instead, I found a little bit of pinto beans and rice. More than half way through my salad, it was odd to come across crumbs of flaked pieces of salmon when usually its in one solid grilled piece. But thats not what killed my appetite. Its when I dug at my guacamole that made me vomit in my mouth. Because underneath the guacamole was a freakin Band-Aid!! Never!! And I mean never again!! Im so done with Cafe Rio. One bad employee could ruin someones great experience. I loved Cafe Rio but after todays horrifying experience, IM DONE!! Theres gotta be a law or something for such an act. That experience alone, will haunt me for the rest of my life. THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!

Cafe Rio is one of my families favorite places to grab a quick dinner. This particular location is the closest to our house, so we have ordered from it a number of times. However, the last FOUR times we have made our order, we have gotten a call from the restaurant letting us know that they are out of something we have ordered. (Three times it was salmon, this last time it was the coconut shrimp.) I understand that things run out sometimes, but Ive also worked in industry for a long period at one point, and consistently running out of ingredients during peak dinner or lunch hours is ridiculous. After last night we have finally had it with this location. The two star rating is only because the last time we ordered, we noticed that we had still been charged for the salmon tacos when we ended up ordering a veggie salad, (because they were out of salmon, again), and when we called the manager to get a refund on the difference between the salad and salmon, she refunded the whole salad. Overall though, we have not had good experiences there lately.

Ive been going to Cafe Rio since the week they opened, its an atmosphere that is lively and the food is awkwardly addicting. Surprisingly, you would think that Mexican food is all the same, at least that was what I always thought. Maybe that is a true statement but, they might make it just a little better by making it right in front of you, standing in line gives you that "know for sure" I watched it getting made" knowledge that all the ingredients are supposed to be there (wink, wink). For the money, this is clean, fresh food that is worth it. Youll be happy to have eaten there... when you get there, when your eating and when youre being rolled out. You to will be a Cafe Rio-naire, not worried about daily expectations, what your boss asked you to do after lunch, you will be in a mouthwatering bliss for a short time, with no worries clouding your tastebuds. Enjoy the ride... Only 4 star because: its so popular, there are times the line is 100 people, the line could take 30 hour. Good luck.

What happened to this place?! The staff seemed to care less about everything. No welcome, didnt listen and didnt communicate. I ordered salmon tacos and the person at the end of the line just slid my tin plate across the counter to the register. When I asked if I could get black beans, pico and dressing she seem very annoyed like I was asking for extra of something. She added black beans and slid the plate back over. I asked the register if I could get pico and dressing and she nodded and then just stood there waiting for some other worker to look at her. She had no idea what was going on and couldnt just ask someone for these items. NOT even the worst of it. Finally home across town to find dried out salmon jerky in tortillas that were so crisp and breaking apart. They too were dried out. One taco had lettuce and cilantro the other had nothing. I ate the black beans and tossed everything else out. I used to order from this location often. I will not be back again!

Terrible and rude service! I ordered online. I ordered a burrito. It was to be ready at 2:00pm. I arrived at 2:00 and stood by the register for 5 minutes while no one looked over or said a word. There were only 2 people in line, so they were not busy. Finally, the girl at the other register asked what I wanted. I told her I had online order. She looked around and after a few minutes told the crew to make my order. I told her it was ordered online and therefore should have been ready at 2:00pm. She could not have cared less and told me how much I owed. I asked for the manager. Another lady came over and basically yelled at me. We will make your order now. I said, "thats it?" Thats not it and walked away. The cashier came back to me and asked for my money. I asked for her name and the so called managers name and she walked away with out giving it to me. I finally got my order and as always they forgot to give me the gaucamole. Terrible and very rude service!!!

My original review was deleted? No idea if it is Google or Cafe Rio so Ill write it again. The quality of this company has gone down hill since I started eating here about 10 years ago in Draper. The portions have gotten smaller in all the locations I have eaten across the valley and the taste of the food quite frankly is awful and bland. The employees give no care to making the food or putting your food together. The picture I have attached shows a "soup" in my salad. This was taken July 2016 and I have not been back since. Im not going to pay over $10 for a salad where I had to essentially drain it into another bowl just to keep my food from getting soggy. Yes there will be some liquid but this measured over a half a cup of pure watery liquid, not dressing. Absolutely no care for food or customer service anymore. It has turned into another chain restaurant where they just want your money and give you crap service. Please stay away and DO NOT waste your money.

The food is aways delicious, but the service has really slowed down. Carry out meals are rarely correct and its hit and miss on if the person ringing us up will be grouhy. We eat here a lot and always bring our punch card. Today I redeemed a free meal, which I believe is an amazing customer service appreciation tool. Today it was weird. Every time I come I order the same thing and I upgrade and pay for a larger dressing (cause YUM!) anytime Ive ever redeemed my free meal, theyve never worried about charging me for the larger size dressing. Today I was told I owed them $0.54. Now $0.54 is nothing, but it really took away from that feeling that cafe rio appreciates my business. Kinda sounds silly that theyd be willing to theoretically "put a bad taste in my mouth" over $0.54 that Ive never been expected to pay before. So my point of leaving this review is just to let cafe rio know what a bummer it was to make a loyal customer feel unappreciated over $0.54.
