I dont often fall in love with restaurants like I did with La Hacienda. We stopped in with lower expectations since there are so many lesser-quality Mexican food choices around and we were blown away. The food tastes as authentic as food we have eaten at resorts and good restaurants down in Mexico. The portions are "American" sizes. And the prices are reasonable. The chips and salsa are very good and are sufficient for anybody looking for a light appetizer. My wife begged me to try the pork nachos and all I can say is "wow" They were some of the best nachos Ive ever eaten. Piled high with all the usual Mexican suspects: cheese, sour cream, guacamole, beans, meat, salsa, etc. And the chips stayed crispy right down to the last bite (you know how some nachos are soggy after just a few minutes?... not these!) We then split the fajitas (and took a lot home as leftovers). We tried the combo with steak, chicken, and shrimp and I was surprised that the shrimp tasted good. Most restaurants overcook shrimp like this, but La Haciendas shrimp was moist and cooked just right. Im not sure if every night has live music, but a man went to each table and took individual requests to sing and play on his guitar. I chose Santana and he did quite well. Overall its a fun environment (large enough for larger parties but still intimate for smaller parties). The service is wonderful (never an empty glass or salsa dish). And the food is VERY good. This restaurant is on my short list of excellent places I can recommend in the Salt Lake valley.

I have been eating at La Hacienda for years. I have eaten there nearly every day of the week for both lunch and dinner. The food is amazing. I have had many different menu items and all are great. My top three are the smothered chile verde burritos, the tortas, and all time favorite the entomatadas with extra jalapenos. Service is generally really good. They have had a few new trainees that are a little slow over the years but the other main staff has been there for a long time and generally really good servers. I havent been unhappy with the food yet. We have gone in really large parties and parties of two. They have always been really good to accommodate the large groups. Weekends are crowded and loud. Especially if the guy playing his guitar is there. That can be a little annoying, as he will come to your table, set his CDs down so he can play a song for you and expects a tip or you to buy his music but it adds to the atmosphere. We have turned him down before and he has always been very nice about it. Its sort of a game we play to see how many times he will get "La Bamba" as a request while we are there. It can also be cold inside the restaurant sometimes especially in the winter. If you get cold easily, I would bring a jacket or sweater.

Used to love this place. Never had issues before. Went with my two kids. Asked for a booth so I can put my 2 year old in a booster seat and a high chair for my 9 Month old. I was told I couldnt have a high chair at a booth and Id need to be at a table. Said that he couldnt block the walk way. When we asked for a booth not blocking the walk way there was an excuse for that too. So we said forget it and walked out. When I walked back in less than 5 minutes later to speak with a manager he had conveniently left. And the guy that refused a high chair was in charge. I asked how the girl in a chair at the end of a booth was any better than a high chair (got no answer) . Everytime I tried to talk he talked over me with a different excuse. I asked if he was willing to lose customers for good because of his poor service and he said yes. Wont be going back again. Have never had an issue getting a high chair there before.... wish I knew what happened to good customer service.

We used to come here a lot more when we lived nearby, but then moved to Utah county and have come back a few times. Food quality and taste seems to be going down hill a little. Not as good as it used to be. I used to love the super nachos, and a few years ago dont remember there being potatoes in them (chicken nachos). The staff says there has always been but the last couple of times weve ordered them, the potatoes out do all the other ingredients, making them bland and not good at all really. Last time it was almost like the was potato soup, with some chicken added. Chips got way too mushy. Dont think well ever order them again going forward. Also, ordered smothered burrito, and the tortilla was way too thick and thats about all you could taste. Thick flour tortillas. Yuck. Also not too much pork inside. More refried beans than anything. Should be looking for better places at this point.

Some of the slowest service around. Was told wed have to wait for an hour to be seated which was fine. When our buzzer went off we were then told that it was a false buzz and that there were still groups ahead of us. After about 30 minutes more our buzzer went off again and we were finally seated at a table under the leaking roof which drenched several of our group. Now onto the food. We waited for about 45 minutes for our food which was needless to say very disappointing. Several of our dishes had hair in the food and some of them looked as if slop had been thrown on our plate. Youd be better off going to the local dump and eating someone elses leftover trash.

The hostess told us 20 minutes. Gave us a pager. After waiting 25-30 minutes and watching people that came after us be seated, we asked how much longer would it be. The hostess running the desk, looked very puzzled she could not find our pager number. The hostess that gave us the pager never put our pager number into the system. Finally after 45 minutes we were seated with not so much as an apology for the mess up. How disappointing, as LaHacienda is one of our favorite places for Mexican food. Service was not up to par as other nights. Water was never refilled. Also took awhile to get the bill.

Ive ate here several times, its usually busy and the service is slow, the food is marginal to pretty good depending on what you order. The last visit I paid using a credit card that hadnt used in several months, the female waitress took quite a while cashing my check out and was out of sight with my card for a lot longer than normal, I didnt really think much of it until a couple hours later when I received a call from that credit cards fraud prevention team asking if I was making charges with the credit card in Texas, Im 99.9% certain this was related to my visit to this restaurant. Will not be back.

Really good service, friendly and fast. There was a huge party arriving about the same time we did and our drinks, apps and food still came out fast, hot and super yummy. The chili verde cheese fries were sooooo good. I had combo fajitas and my husband got a combo plate. Everything had really good flavor. This is not generic bland "mexican" food. You could tell things had been marinated, cooked properly and fresh veggies used. The atmosphere was comfortable and clean, the food was flavorful and well prepared, and the service was excellent. Oh, and the salsa was good and had fresh cilantro. Mmmmm.
