La Boulangerie is located downtown but is a few streets removed from the crazy tourist trap part of the Riverwalk. I visited on a Saturday morning and although the street it was on seemed kind of dead from the outside, the inside of this bakery was bustling. And let me tell you how authentically French it was. My friend and I came in and gawked at all the desserts. As we decided what to order and were waiting in front of the pastry case to be served, another man walked in, started speaking French fluently to the chef, and promptly cut in front of us. Okay, not a huge deal. Well right after he ordered and paid for his food, before we could get a word in, the lady who took his order disappeared back into the kitchen without as much as an acknowledgment of our presence. Pretty sure we were invisible because we didnt speak French. Minutes passed, and then she came out and promptly served another lady who bought 4 giant baguettes. She disappeared again. A few more minutes passed. Finally, she popped back out and took our order without any sort of apology or mention of the wait. Everything, from the chefs to the Parisian rudeness to the deliciousness of the chocolate almond croissant I picked up -- were all amazingly authentic and such a surprise to find in this city. Be sure to stop by if youre in the area! I cant wait to pay another visit and try some more of their baked goods.

love this place. The pastries are really the best in town. I used to love Bakery Lorraine the best (and theyre still a close #2), but the ingredients and attention to detail have made me a convert. The owners and bakers and chef are all from France. They are super sweet and care about delivering an authentic product. The croissants are made with French butter and it makes a major difference. The ham & butter sandwich is perfection! Its served on freshly baked baguette and smeared with a generous amount of creamy and salty butter. I took one to my favorite Frenchman and he was instantly transported back to his childhood. When I speak to other people who go here on a regular basis, theyre all equally enchanted and great advocates for this little gem. Im sure you will be, too! Go. There. Now. Youll be sad it took you so long to find this Boulangerie!

My friend and I winged it with this location because we were looking for a bakery. What a gem! I ordered the bread pudding and I will never stop bragging about it. The sweetness was subtle and it was the perfect density (for me anyway). My friend ordered the comte cheese omelette with arugula which was delicious just as well. They brought out two baguette pieces (tiny, albeit, but unexpected) which only added to the quaint experience. Next time Im in town Im definitely going to hit this place up again but with an empty stomach and fatter wallet just to please my curious taste buds.

This place is so wonderful. I took my mother on a Saturday morning and we each tried the combo meals. I tried their coffee (latte), chocolate croissant, baguette with strawberry jam, OJ, and yogurt parfait. The quality met all my expectations and it was exactly what I was looking for (authentic French). The owners are kind and the place is welcoming and quiet (very French!). One of the owners (a woman) even tried some Spanish with my mother (how kind!). We tried the combo meal because I wanted to sample, but it was a big breakfast for my standards (and my weekend cheat meal

I was excited to see this option for breakfast, so I walked over from the touristy part of town to see for myself. The outside of the building was a little unassuming, but the inside was a warm and cozy bistro. French radio was playing and the scent of fresh pastry was in the air. This was clearly a place for local francophones and I was able to practice my limited French when I ordered. My croissant was warm and flaky and complemented by a cup of dark roast coffee. It certainly set my morning off on the right foot. Next time Im in town, Im trying the tarts!

After reading many reviews this spot was on my must visit list for San Antonio. I was not disappointed. I visited during the lunch hour on a Thursday afternoon and there was only one other customer dining in when I arrived, by the time I left at least 3 other people had visited. I tried a piece of the Chocolate Flan and it was delicious. All of the croissants looked amazing and it was hard to stop myself from getting one to go! I love that it is within walkable distance from the Riverwalk area.

This is better than Paris, simply put. The food is authentic, home made, and high quality. The jams and honey are pure, home made and tasty. The chocolate croissant and Nutella crepe were fresh, soft and out of this world. Small joint but extremely delicious home made food. Highly recommend this!! Tip: Order the combo meals from menu ($11 for a ton of food and freshly squeezed real orange juice, $16 for combo with eggs)

Pedí para llevar y me atendieron muy rápido y con amabilidad. Ligeramente salado el sándwich, pero muy rico! Los postres deliciosos!

OMG great, delicious, the best. Organic eggs, broccoli quiche, the yogurt is out of this world. Chocolate croissant. My only regret is we are here for three days and they are closed for the next two. We would gladly have breakfast here 5 days a week. Thank you for bringing us this delicious French bakery.

You will not beat the baguettes here. Not a chance. I absolutely love the sandwiches here and the croissants. Staff is friendly and will answer questions you may have about an item you cant pronounce. The parking is tough. So uber or bike if you can. Cant say enough about this place. It is the real deal.

By far the best bakery in San Antonio. The quality of food is outstanding and so is the service. We are regulars and the food is consistently exquisite. Everything from the fresh baguettes, croissants, chocolate tarts and lemon tarts are all exceptional. Love this place. The owners are doing a great job!

A real French, understated, European bakery. Great puff pastry, hot sandwiches, bread and original café au lait. Relax or polish up on your French and most of all enjoy the art of traditional pastry. No vegetarian lunch options on the menu but they fixed me up with a delicious sandwich.

Authentic and Delicious! I was craving a croissant and googled bakeries downtown. So glad I came across this place! The croissant and pain au chocolat I ordered were amazing, the service was great and it this is genuinely a French pastry. Will be coming back for sure!

Excellent food. Fresh chocolate croissants and apple turn overs. Quiche Lorraine was yummy too. Coffee was nice and flavorful. The yogurt parfait was creamy. Another nice touch was the fresh orange juice. I would definitely come again.

Amazing to find a nice small french with an amazing bakery - authentic croissants, baguettes, and more. A great pace for breakfast or lunch. Reasonably priced. I had the collard green bacon soup. Delicious.
