I honestly didnt know this place existed until my dad asked me to meet him there for lunch one day. We both love Cajun cuisine so I was very intrigued. Being part of a strip center, it doesnt look like much from the outside but when you walk in, the ambiance is lovely and its such a nice, dimly lit setting. This place was great for lunch and we were in and out in less than an hour so that I could return to work. We started with the Calamari which was cooked perfectly and not real chewy like some other places Ive been too. It came with two dipping sauces which were equally good but I preferred the red sauce. I got the Tilapia Almondine which was so rich (in a good way) that I couldnt finish it all. I wish I have gotten the mashed potatoes with it instead of the rice because, while it was really good, the spice of the rice just didnt go well with it. My dad got the Fried Shrimp Etouffee and it was awesome it all of its spicy goodness. Next time, I want to try the Catfish gumbo though! The staff was amazing. Every single one of them greeted us when we came in and when we left. My glass was never empty and our waitress was very attentive but never interrupted us. I would definitely recommend this place and cant wait to go back!

This place is superb and reminds you to not judge a book by its cover (great food can, in fact, be found in never-ending Texas strip malls next to a Wal-Mart). Reminiscent of some of the best and most memorable food Ive had during several trips to New Orleans, French Quarter is putting out some delectable cajun and creole style specialties. Before we get too deep, youll be mighty disappointed if you come here expecting to find something paleo or low carb or low fat. Its worth it, though. Youll also leave here starving if you are a vegetarian or a vegan. Among my favorite items are the fried green tomatoes (topped with crab, huge portion!), the chicken bacon poboy, the shrimp and crawfish pasta, and fish ponchatrain. But seriously, you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. So fresh and well prepared. So much flavor. Huge portions. This is a great spot for a work lunch, Friday night date, after church Sunday lunch, or "just because." The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and slightly intimate.

My husband was craving some Cajun food while we were in Austin. The French Quarter Grille was close to our hotel and sounded pretty good. It was amazing! The hostess was very quick to seat us, the waitress was friendly (but didnt over do it), the atmosphere was nice, dim lighting, very clean. I had the Catfish Etoufee and my husband had the stuffed Catfish. It started with the butter for the rolls - the rolls are good, but that butter was delicious. Then we received our meals. I was so pleased at how clean and fresh everything tasted. I am super picky when it comes to fish, and it was cooked perfectly! For dessert, my husband had the bread pudding. We try it at every restaurant that offers it, and this is by far the best I have ever had. I had the Chocolate Raspberry Creme Brulee. It is to die for! We will definately be returning next time we visit Austin.

Very good food, excellent service. If you have the chance to get the appetizer special - crawfish cheesecake - be sure to try it, you wont be disappointed. From the fresh bread rolls with garlic butter to the delicious entrees complete with garnish and presentation, everyone enjoyed their entree and we left stuffed. Only downside to mentions was that their caesar salad was a bit bland. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, easy to have a pleasant conversation. They are open for lunch and dinner, but not mid-afternoon between 2-5pm. Their dining area is rather small, so reservations are recommended for weekend dinners. Prices start around $8 for appetizers and entrees range from $15 to $35 - pricier than your typical chain family restaurant but sooo much better.

I had not heard of this place until a friend decided that he wanted to have his birthday dinner there. As a fan of NOLA cuisine I was happy to learn that a void for that particular fare was being filled with this wonderful little restaurant. Where do I start? Well the Jalapeno beignets were absolutely FAB. Just enough spice to wet your whistle. Someone else at the table had a bowl of the craw fish etoufee to wanted to share and it almost made me want to ask for my own bowl! The highlight of my meal was the Lake Ponchartrain as it had the right combination of spice, fish, sauce and melt in your mouth blackened spices. After we were finished with the meal I was ready to go again! I will be back and hopefully not before another birthday.

I love Cajun food, but finding a place that serves natural Cajun is far and few between. A friend of mine and I decided to have a impromptu dinner when we drove past the restaurant and as two avid Cajun lovers we had found our heaven! The atmosphere was amazing, the service was outstanding and prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes. We now go at least once a week and have built quite the relationship with one of the proprietors, Scott who I might add is just as amazing as the restaurant itself. So in short if youre looking for anything from celebrating a birthday to a quiet romantic dinner for two I suggest you go here, you wont regret it or be disappointed. P.S. try the bread pudding, its better than sex, LOL!

I went to the French Quarter Grille night before last with my fiance and it was wonderful! It was the best meal that I have had in a very long time! The chef has daily specials that are not on the menu normally and that is what I ordered...it was so good I begged the waitress to tell the chef to make it a normal menu item. It was blackened Mahi Mahi and shrimp with dirty rice over a brown butter cream sauce. OMG the brown butter cream sauce was the one of the best things I have ever put into my mouth! I even asked for a little bit extra to take home with my leftovers and the Chef actually gave it to me without any charge. I had the bread pudding too which was awesome! I cant wait to go back. HIGHLY recommended!!!!

Im usually super critical...and have never given 5 stars on any review of any type. I can not say anything negative about our experience! This place hands down gets 5 stars! From the moment we walked in the door to a super friendly greeting from the hostess, we knew we "stumbled upon" a secret treasure! The food is absolutely AMAZING!!! The service was great, including the owner who was "hands on" delivering food & refilling beverages. The atmosphere is perfect, clean and inviting. And when you dine at a "French, creole, Cajun-inspired" restaurant on St. Patricks Day?....you get buttered cabbage as the veggie of the day---PERFECT!!! We will definitely be back the next time we travel to The Austin area.

A GREAT place for office lunches or date night! Ive been here a few times with my Husband and also with co-workers. We love this place! We are always greeted by a friendly host and the owner. Its a cozy place where almost every table has a booth side to it! The kitchen window is front and center. Youll see almost everyone praising the chef and the guys on the way out the door. The fried green tomatoes and crab cakes are my favorite!! We usually have one in our group thats a vegitarian. The kitchen is always gracious and accomidates them. The gumbos and etouffees are spot on and truly authentic cajun cookin! This is the real deal right here in Austin!
