Ive always found it odd that Le Café Crêpe has never received more attention in Austin dining guides, food blogs, and best-of lists. After all, its a longtime mainstay of the downtown area near the Convention Center (an area known for constant restaurant turnover and a dearth of quality, affordable dining), the prices are quite reasonable for the neighborhood, and, most importantly, the food is incredibly tasty. The menu is divided into several breakfast crêpes and a good selection of both savory and sweet crêpes, with the option to build your own crêpe as well. Among the savory crêpes, there’s an unusually strong selection of decent vegetarian options- for someone who is used to going straight for the only meatless option on the menu, this can make it difficult to choose! Try the Bruni, with goat cheese, caramelized onion, sundried tomato pesto, and fresh basil. The Greek, with spinach, feta, and green and black olives, is a solid option too. The dessert crêpes are refreshingly close to what I remember buying on the streets of Paris, and incorporate traditionally French ingredients such as Nutella, sugar butter, brie, baked apples and pears, and even Grand Marinier. Service here is generally quite speedy (under ten minutes for an order), even during busy times such as South by Southwest, and in my experience, has always been quite friendly. The decor goes for a slightly kitschy Parisian café theme. It doesn’t look much like the actual French cafés I’ve had the chance to visit, but the food tastes nearly as good! I wouldn’t make a trip downtown especially to eat at Le Café Crêpe, largely due to the saturated (and expensive) parking situation in that part of town. However, when you find yourself in the area, it’s one of the best bets for casual dining around.

I visited Le Café Crepe while in town for a friends wedding celebration. After a fun night out we were famished and artisan coffee and crepes just sounded like they would hit the spot. The restaurant is very small and tight. I do appreciate the small café idea, but it just seemed too cramped for comfort. If it wasnt 100 degrees outside, we may have utilized their patio instead. Im only giving 3 stars because my crepe was quite tasty and again, I was famished. Other than that, the over all experience was enough to not come back. The waiter seemed very confused and was VERY slow. My friends and I ordered our drinks and food at the same time and I received my food and beverage before they received their espresso and coffee. Ultimately the waiter forgot and didnt come back to the table until we needed checks. A second waiter brought out the food and took the coffee reorder for my friends. As if that wasnt annoying enough, their food was waiting in the window ready for drop off for some time. Even the cook in the back said "table 7 still has not been taken out." We were table 7. Lastly, as all this is taking place, the owner was walking around barking orders at staff rather than helping. Overall, the crepe was tasty and my friends said the coffee was good when it finally arrived. Maybe when it cools off and the patio can be utilized it might be a better experience, but I doubt Ill be back.

Great food but really slow and bad service. We arrived and was promptly seated. A waiter came by and took our drink order. After we got our drinks another waiter came by and took our order. I had ordered a coffee and asked for a cream and never got it. I had to ask again to the same waitress and then finally got it after I was half way done with my coffee. In between waiting, a large group that got seated near us left because nobody had come by for their order for a long time. We ordered a savory and then sweet each and asked for the sweet crepes to come out as dessert. Instead, the sweet crepes were the first ones out. After we finished our savory crepes the sweet crepes were too cooled down and too chewy. All in all, the food is great, but the service was unorganized, awkward, and very poorly managed.

This is one of the cutest, littlest cafes in downtown Austin. Its the perfect place to linger over a sweet or savory crepe (or why not order both?) and a cafe au lait on a quiet, weekend morning, either by yourself or with a good friend. The large windows are lined with barstools for observing the hustle and bustle of the Convention Center area. The rest of the tiny shop is filled with the daintiest of round tables for intimate conversations. The outside is lined with cafe tables and chairs, in true European fashion. The walls and sounds are filled with all things French. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. Oui, this place, with its strawberry and Nutella crepes, is perfection. As their receipts say, "Bon appetit, yall!"

I had been there a few times and really enjoyed it. One day I sat outside on their seats to wait for someone and the waitress walked up to me asking if I was ready to order and I said I was waiting for someone. She said "if you dont order, you can sit here". I was appalled considering the place was empty. I will probably never go back there knowing that the staff doesnt care to treat people nicely. The times that I had gone, I never had a friendly face greet me. Oh and cant you guys get a crepe to the table before the whip cream melts? Cmon. Now, after the way I was asked to leave I want the owners to know that I will never recommend this place to anyone. How about you tell your employees to have some respect for customers?

Met up with friends before heading to work (downtown). Highly recommended for the working professional. They are quick and speedy. If you order, you most likely will get your crepe delivered in 10 min max (at least that was my experience)! I have only ordered off the savory side of the menu, but they also have sweet crepes. My favorite thus far is the Italian option. A friend of mine ordered the special, which is a croissant with coffee, and it looked heavenly. The decor is a little haphazard, but apparently the signs on the walls are a collection of vintage pieces from a shop the restaurant owner used to keep, but has since been closed. Overall, a nice inviting environment with really great food.

This is my favorite place to eat breakfast in Austin. Amazing food! It really hurts me to put 3 stars, But the service has not been pleasant the last couple of times. The owner is very nice as well as some of the servers. But we keep getting a young gentleman who does not care at all. Horrible service, rude, acts like our table doesnt exist, doesnt care at all! And worst of all we were included 18% gratuity for the worst service ever. So youre telling me I have to tip this guy 18% for horrible service ¿?! It really frustrated me. I didnt wanna mention anything but next time I will definitely be asking for a different server, one that actually cares about the business and having customers return.

Not on my list anymore. Two says in a row, Ive come here. The crêpes were good on their own, but unfortunately they dont seem to have prepared enough special sauce to last until noon. The special sauce is what makes the crêpes amazing. Not having the special sauce makes the crêpes worthless. I decided to try mornay sauce with the crêpe that took half an hour to find its way to me. I ordered the mornay sauce, but it was not brought out to me in time for me to eat it with my crêpe. I will not return here ever again. Additionally, the manager is rather aggressive and rude.
