Food was mediocre at best! Was hoping to be wowed by the reviews I had read & the amount I was paying for my meal, but was left disappointed. Canned artichoke hearts on my Grouper, left whole and tough - with a way too heavy cream sauce for fish. Everything was served with a dry potato cake which lacked flavor & steamed green beans (hard to get those wrong). My daughters pasta dish lacked any depth of flavor - tasted like marinara from a can. Shrimp were an after thought thrown in. My sons pasta & seafood dish came with one clam & two scallops - the rest mostly shrimp & Mussels which were over cooked. Desserts were sad too - two were defiantly shipped in and server right from the commercial box they were taken out of. The one positive thing about this place is that it is right on the bay to sit outside. Highly over priced for what you get.

April 20, 2010 The Bay Cafe was recommended as a "great little french cafe", by a retired cardiologist who is also an avid fisherman. We found a wonderfully quaint restaurant nestled on the bay with exceptionally good cuisine. The service was impeccable, the food, as good as can be found anywhere along the Gulf Coast between Pensacola and Panama City and the atmosphere a cozy elegance. We enjoyed a smoked trout appetizer that looked as though it was prepared on the premise, not shipped in and with a flavor one would expect to find only in France. I had the grilled cobia with a chilli lime sauce that was magnifique. My wife dined on a wonderful grouper filet topped with an artichoke sauce that was equally delightful. Highly recommend you try for yourself a truly great little secret in the Fort Walton Beach area. Bon Apetit!

My wife and I were excited to eat at this nice restaurant based on the reviews we saw. It was our anniversary. My wife can cook better than the meal that was brought to us. My wife gave her food 6/10. Seafood Amalie. The angel hair pasta was overcooked. Shrimp was overcooked. Her seafood chowder on the other had was really good. My food the duck lacked depth and flavor. I asked to get something else and the waiter made me feel like "why do I want another dish?" He was rude and I did not feel welcomed. In other words he was not happy I asked for something else. The next dish I got instead chicken Florentine was just as bad. I dont know what the rant and rave was about but we left disappointed. Will not come back. For the quality of food, its overpriced.

Wow! We are new in town & got a gift certificate, so we went to Bay Cafe for our Anniversary. Food and Service were AMAZING! My husband said the crab claw appetizer was the best hed ever had. We shared grilled grouper with artichoke sauce and almost licked the plates clean. Salads were fresh and dressing was a homemade ranch-type with a bit of spunk. Creme Brulee was fabulous too! Wait staff was friendly, helpful and very attentive. Atmosphere was great too, it was warm so we sat inside, but could watch the water from our table. We will go back!!!

had the Chilean seabass and it was awesome. The entree was $25? which is a little high but you get a basket of fried crap for that on the island. It was plump, tender and cooked just above med-rare making it great. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint. More like a good place to have a date than party. Service was good, food hot and came quick. we will probably go there a second night while we are here

It is on the water with beautiful views. The food is good, authentic French cuisine. Inside is casual elegance or dine outside on the dock. Casual attire is acceptable, this is, afterall a vacation destination. Service is superb. We did unfortunately endure several nearby tables/diners smoking before during and after their meals.

We stumbled in here by accident-wanted to eat near the water. The views are great! We were a 3 generation family with children 4-9. Definitely not geared toward children. No kids menu. How does putting a hamburger on a croissant make this a french restaurant? The amberjack and sirloin were great. Overall very overpriced.

Who knew I would find an authentic French restaurant on the water in Fort Walton. I cant say enough about the food.... Put it this way, I drive 2 hours to eat here. The FANTASTIC food and the first class, personable service make this restaurant a MUST for everyone. Especially for those that miss France as much as I do :)

If youre going to hand scrawl a change in lunch hours and post it at the front door, you might want to first change it on the services people use to decide whether or not to dine at your location. As of 10 June Google, Tripadvisor AND THEIR OWN WEBSITE still showed lunch until 3PM.

Enjoyable experience. Recommend you make a reservation if you want an outside table during peak times. Might be pricey, but worth it, large portions by comparison to many French restaurants. I dont know what they do to the coffee, but I prefer it to Starbucks.

I moved this from my want to go to my favorites! What a quaint but absolutely beautiful setting!! The waiter was so kind in recommendations and the choices proved his experience in french cuisine! You MUST stop in while in the area! Delicious!

Great as always! Food, Atmosphere, and Service. The weather was great and we had hoped to sit outside, but unfortunately a couple of chain-smokers got seated upwind of us and we had to go inside. Otherwise, very enjoyable!

The food was great. We took our 7 year old there not realising it was fine dining, so there was nothing really for her to eat. They did make a simple pasta dish for her. Just be aware that there is no kids menu!

The escargot was superb, and a fit prelude to the cherry sauced duck. The muscles were not up to this very high standard. The Malbec was as expected and a fitting complement to. A mostly excellent meal .

We ate there once and really liked the food, the staff, and the beautiful view. However, weve tried to go back, but they were never open, even though we tried during hours they were supposed to be open.

One of the best places to go in Ft. Walton. If the weather allows, definitely get a table on the deck. Everything is great..one of the restaurants we take visitors and never fails to deliver.

We have been coming to this place for years and it never disappointed us. The atmosphere and food are excellent while completed by magnificent view of the Bay.

Food Service Quality standards were surprisingly low for such a highly rated restaurant. Wait staff seem to be very young and inexperienced. Family?

Excellent. Lamb with amazing flavor and rice with so many hints of Persian cuisine. Staff were phenomenal. Wine list perfect. Just visit and enjoy.
