The food actually wasnt bad. And the first couple of times I went I enjoyed my experience. Ive had weight loss surgery, and therefore I am only able to eat about 1/2 cup of food at one time. During my first visit I realized they had a "no doggie bags" policy. I explained my situation to the server and he talked with the manager. They told me they would not be able to allow me to take home my leftovers, but they could charge me for the childs price. Works for me! I was a happy customer. The next time I went in a few weeks later, I told them the same thing, and they gave me the same answer. So today I went in and again told my server of my situation and what had been arranged in the past. She said no problem, shed let her manager know. During my entire meal, the manager (large heavy set man with greying hair, glasses, and a thick accent) paced back and forth near our table, making it very obvious that he was watching me. When my lunch companions returned to the grill for a second plate, I remained at the table. Id eaten less than half of my very small portion. Obviously, not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes here. My toddler eats more than I do. At the end of our meal, the manager came over and very rudely told me that he didnt know why I was telling his servers that I had some kind of "arrangement" but they do not ever allow that kind of thing. He would be gracious enough to honor the childs menu price for me this time, but in the future they will not be doing it again. I thanked him but requested to pay the full price and told him I wouldnt be back. He stormed off and I could hear him from across the restaurant yelling at the server to charge me the full price. Our server was very kind and apologetic. I am very aware that they do not need to bend any rules for me, but had I been informed of their policy at the beginning, and not treated as if I were trying to cheat them somehow, I would have been much more understanding. I will not be back.

This is the only restaurant I know that has homework. Great food and great times. For those that have been to a HuHot before you can skip to the bottom: -- For those that have not been here before, this place operates different than most places youll eat. In a few words, it’s an all you can eat buffet of your choice that they cook fresh. For an explanation, you get in line, and you get to choosing. You choose everything, from the kinds of meat, to what kind of carbs, veggies, etc. it’s all lined up frozen and ready to go. You put it in layers in bowls and then you move on to the sauces which they have A LOT. The fun is mixing and matching. Soy, hossin, garlic, hot sauces, all kinds you can think of. Put your sauce on, then get in a line and they will cook it on a flat top right in front you, complete with spatula flips and tricks. Fresh and hot, and all you can eat. And this is where the restaurant shines and requires work. They have “recommendations” but likely if you have never been there before you won’t know what to put, and will get something that is just okay. What is awesome is that since its all you can eat, you begin developing your own “mixes” ( I have a file on my phone). The more times you go the more and more you refine them and the better it gets. It’s also fun to go and just experiment with your friends. -- If you are still with me, I’ve been to a couple of these and I like this location. It’s clean, the wait to get your food isn’t long, and they always seem to have everything in stock. Finally, last time I was there someone had an allergy, and they were able to accommodate him (by cleaning him a spot on the hot top and using new tools) which impressed me. The only negative would be that it takes a few times to find what you like and that it’s not super cheap. Still a great time.

HuHot is my favorite mongolian BBQ. What makes HuHot different is the wide selection of sauces and ingredients. Many other Mongolian BBQ places are single trip, HuHot is all you can eat. The sauce bar has many items other Mongolian BBQ restaurants lack, such as sesame oil, garlic broth, cooking sherry, and hot chili oil. These are all on top of the dozen sauces they offer. The cooks here are excellent, they will even take special requests like "crispy noodles" or "add red pepper flakes" having them cooked on the grill rather than added afterwards, or even fry your rice with the food. They will also clean and prep the grill for those with seafood or peanut allergies. Another thing HuHot offers that others dont, is a selection of 3 noodle types, including ramen, & pad thai flat rice noodles. The asian salad included with dinner is a spring salad with crushed ramen noodles on top, a sweet asian vinaigrette, and a few mandarin wedges. Its a salad Ive only seen one place come close to replicating. Its like desert in the form of a salad. The restaurant has a full bar, and a desert menu with some tasty items such as fried cheesecake wontons. Something they dont really advertise much is a loyalty club where you can earn points towards free meals, birthday meals and other specials. If you like HuHot make sure you join. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you like mongolian BBQ. Because once you come here you will definitely come back.

I tried this place out recently and was left sorely disappointed. To be honest I think I caught them on an off day because there is no way it would have this many positive reviews if the quality I experienced was standard. So my main problem was that the food was all frozen. The meat, the veggies, everything, was sitting there in their containers completely frozen. Most had rather large bits of frost and ice on them. This is inconsistent with every other place Ive been to that follows this format. The ingredients always look fresh and are simply chilled. This led to the food tasting rather terrible. I additionally think this was out of the ordinary because the chef was doing quite a bit of re-cooking. With my meal he thought he had completed it but then found that some of the meat was still rather raw on the inside, so back on the grill it went. He was extremely quick and looked rather skillful with the spatulas, so I assume he was well trained and just wasnt prepared to be cooking from frozen like that. So I have to give this place two stars for now. I may try them sometime in the future and update this, but overall the quality of the food on my visit made it very overpriced and nowhere near the great experience that Genghis Grill is.

HuHot is a pretty typical Mongolian restaurant based on my experience. It is all you can eat buffet style food, but rather than the food being cooked already, you pick the ingredients that you want as well as the seasonings/sauces. You then bring your ingredients up to a central grill area, where the cook sautés up your food. You also have the option of ordering salad, appetizers, and drinks, which are brought to the table by your server. In terms of food quality, I felt that it was pretty average. I got what I would have expected from a buffet, nothing amazing, but nothing horrible either. The vegetable and meat buffet area was a little messy--the vegetables had pieces thrown into different sections that didnt belong and the meats looked about the same when I glanced at them. This restaurant is moderately vegetarian friendly. You are able to exclude meat from your food when you pick your ingredients, however everything is cooked on the same surface. Because of this, it may not be the most vegetarian or allergy friendly restaurant.
