There are a lot of buffets in the Huntsville area, but 88 Buffet separates itself from the rest of them. The selection on the buffet is probably the largest in town and consists of the usual Chinese buffet suspects, but with the added addition of many regional favorites - the spinach-cheese casserole and stuffed potato skins are all good. But what really sets this place apart from every other buffet in town is the hibachi and sushi bar. At the back of the restaurant, there is a buffet of raw ingredients. You pile whatever you want in your hibachi meal onto a plate and hand it to the hibachi chef, and he cooks it for you with your choice of sauce. Every bit as good as what I get at most teppanyaki restaurants for a fraction of the price, and you can eat all you like. Next door to the hibachi station is the sushi bar. Normally, I stay far, far away from the sushi at most buffets, but the sushi quality here is on par with most mid-range sushi restaurants, with a decent selection of pre-made rolls and a chef who makes rolls to order as you like. And all of this ... for just under $10? Really! It doesnt get much better than this. Its been awhile since I was as excited about a new restaurant - especially nothing more than a "Chinese buffet" in Huntsville as I am about 88 Buffet. As you can tell, its not your average Chinese buffet!

Overall it was so so. Some of the items we ate were not that great. For example, the squid was extremely tough and chewy. The chicken teriyaki was very salty, the frog legs had so much pepper, that was all you could taste. The vegetable egg roll was tough and chewy. Fried oysters tasted bad. Corn on cob soggy and dumplings were falling apart and soggy. Peel and eat shrimp had no flavor, and the raw oysters did not taste good either. The Sushi was excellent, as was the Bourbon chicken. The hibachi grill was also good. The sign by the hostess desk was not welcome or friendly at all. It was almost threatening. It said "Wait to be seated. We mean it. Dead serious". I mean, Wow! Management needs lessons in customer service and how to make people feel welcome, not say something so brash as you walk in. Yikes!

My favorite buffet in Madison County! With a fantastic selection of various entrees and sides of Chinese and American dishes, a great hibachi, a very large salad bar, and what I feel is the best selection of sushi in the entire area that is not from an actual sushi house, there is something for everyone here! They have different selections for both lunch and dinner, as well as a few special items on different days. My wife and I have gone there before just to enjoy the sushi by itself, as well as the variety provided by the multiple tables of food. The service is always good and prompt, and the servers friendly. They do put out coupons sometimes, with buy one get one half off or $5 off total bill offerings. I highly recommend 88 Buffet.

We used to come here quite a bit. Im not sure whether weve been spoiled by the place we frequent in Miami, or if the quality of the food has really diminished since weve been gone, but there was almost nothing edible. The ice cream was the only thing I could eat. The sushi almost made me vomit. The guy at the hibachi refusing to listen to me made that inedible. The crab rangoon was disgusting. This place used to get 5 stars from me, and thats the only reason it got two. If this had been my first time coming, it wouldve only gotten 1 star. Id suggest finding another Chinese restaurant.

This is one of our favorite places for a guys Friday lunch where we can stuff ourselves with buffet food. They have an enormous buffet with pretty much every Asian option plus "American" options like chicken fingers and pizza for the picky kids. They also have sushi and a custom order hibachi grill if you want something a bit fresher than the buffet. The food is solid buffet food - tasty but nothing phenomenonal. I was recently saddened that they didnt have the scoop ice cream for dessert, but they still have a 20 foot long dessert buffet, so I survived :).

GREAT place to eat. There is nothing you could want they dont have on this buffet! They have sushi, salad or you can even grill it fresh cut! Of course, they have the usual fare, of kung oao, sesame chicken, NJ oodles, rice, souo, American foods, and all that jazz. They have a huge salad and fruit bar and a dessert bar that goes for days. Or you can grab a bite to go... the sell it for $3.99/lb for a to-go box. Ive had lunch for $2.95 and you cant beat that! I can see that getting out of hand if you dont watch the weight thiugh!!

Never again!. I was looking for some sushi place for dinner to enjoy my last night in Huntsville. I found this place in google and thought that it was a great deal... what at mistake!. The sushi is a sort of "American" version of it, including mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, etc. The soya sauce is the most tasteless of its kind I ever tried. The fried scrimps were tasting to nothing. I tried to get some fruit, but beyond been all too green, they had a very strange taste. All in all, it is not worth the price.

Its a buffet. Needs more healthy alternatives. What they do have is great and the best buffet in town. I like the Hibachi, but it does take extra time which Id rather talk with friends then wait in that line. Maybe they could have table numbers which you put on the plate and they could bring it over. What are you tipping them for anyway? Getting you refills? They should have a drink refill station and get rid of staff (sorry.. thats probably mean, but well.. it would be better)

This is probably my favorite Asian buffet PERIOD! I love that I can eat all the sushi that my little heart desires at such a reasonable price! The staff are very friendly, and the restaurant is usually very clean unless its packed and the patrons left messes faster than the staff could clean up, but thats rare. The health score is currently at 91. My only suggestion is that you dont wait til an hour before closing time because theyll stop stocking food and let it start running out.

In Huntsville on business and had a craving for some Asian food & seafood. Searched Google and saw all the positive reviews for 88 Buffet so I decided to check it out. I was very disappointed. The food was bland, wasnt hot, and they were out of many of the items on the buffet. I was trying to fulfill a craving while away from home, but this didnt cut it. Nothing like the Asian buffet I frequent back home. Will not be back.
