Our family is always trying different buffets around the San Antonio area last night, we tried King buffet on Bandera rd. I personally was disappointed, the way the buffet line is set up, ppl wait at the end of the line like cafeteria style when numerous line cutters get in front of you, many of the pans where empty when it was your turn to serve yourself, so if wanted that item, you would have to return to the line or become a line cutter yourself, , we where seated right in front of the chocolate fountain, we noticed numerous ppl just stand there ,dip a strawberry or marshmallows into the chocolate, take a bite, and re dip back into the chocolate, thats just terrible manners and 0 respect for other patrons, I went to get and piece of steak 3 times, empty every time, finally, I became a line cutter to get the a piece of steak, personally I have found Tappenyaki to be the best in SA so far !!!, at least twice as much serving area, twice areas much food, The best thing about King was the crab legs was served warm, Lins on 410 / Zarzamora, I rated it 2nd to Tappenyaki, Anyone have a buffet in SA and surrounding area you would suggest? We had never been there before and arrived at about 330. A nice host greeted us and sat us down, and took our drink order. Two waters. We made two trips each, the second trip my husband got crab legs. This short woman leaned over my husbands plate and said "dinner only"....we just looked at her shocked at how rude that was to disrupt a meal for that. When we were originally sat, there was no mention of dinner or lunch and it would not have mattered. I asked what her name was and it was Linda. We watched her stand around. Eat something from a can and never did she ask if we needed a drink refill. I had to ask her mysek. Our plates were not cleared either. At checkout we voiced our complaint and basically were told that Linda had a language barrier :/ really? Not my problem. Besides a language barrier still allowsome for service. Food was ok, but I left with a knot in my throat. No etiquette, bad service, backward ways. Thumbs down. Ps when a customer complains, dont justify your staffs behavior.

My family and I usually go there. We enjoy it most of the time. The selections are decent. The Mongolian grill is better than others. Other than the sometimes rude cook they have there. He sometimes responds rudely if you ask for something. Things to improve: fried rice, they only have one serving station for it. They ran out last time we were there. When I went to serve myself the first time. They told me they were barely making it. It wasnt available throughout our lunch. Its not that great anyways though. No shrimp fried rice nor chicken version either. Their dessert selection is not that great. Looks like they went to Walmart and got some creme cakes. Last, their egg rolls are less than desired. Come to think of it, they only have little spring rolls. They are not great either. That being said, I like their sesame chicken and their lemon chicken. That and with their Mongolian grill is enough to keep me going.

***PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Ive ate at this place many times during the weekends and the food was fine and awesome. I took an out of town friend to this place, talking it up and saying how great it was but it sucked so bad. The only difference I could think of was we ate there on a weekday versus a weekend. Afterwards all 4 of us got sick. Headaches and throwing up for hours. The baked salmon, fried rice, and baked mussels tasted like left overs left in the fridge with no lid or cover, they pretty much tasted like a fridge. Please people, be careful. We had other foods as well so I cant say particularly that it was the rice and seafood that got us sick. All I know for sure is that it was this place that made all of us ill, since this was the restaurant we had our first and last meal of the day.

This is the only Chinese buffet Ive ever gone to since it opened last year. It is a new facility which means the decor and cleanliness is top notch compared to the other buffets in the area. The choices are nearly identical to other buffets, but I feel the chicken is of higher quality or at least cooked better take your pick. They also have grilled steak (dont get your hopes up; its a buffet, remember?) which is not very common for this type of restaurant. The main host upfront is always energetic and eager to serve (the older, bald gentleman) however the younger lady always has a resting "hater" facial expression. She needs to get motivated or get stuffed in the kitchen where her negativity wont affect anyone. Next time I go, Ill put a dollar on Buddha and pray this happens.

I have been here several times before, but last night all of the soups and the sweet and sour chicken tasted like fish... everyone that has worked in a buffet restaurant should know that the wells under the buffet contain hot water that keep the food warm... the lady changing out the pans from the buffet removed the pan with the food and used the pan underneath to replace it... well that pan had crumbs and food particles so she proceeded to rinse it with the very dirty water from the well underneath.... you could clearly see food particles floating in the water already before she used it to rinse the pan and when she placed it on the buffet she dumped the food onto the now contaminated pan... never again will I go there

So far, the best Chinese Buffet Ive been to in San Antonio, TX. The food here is always great - I love their sushi selection, their Mongolian grill section is very well kept, and their usual buffet food is always fresh. I love getting their steaks here, yum! My only complaint here is that the Sushi chefs have some major attitude issues. I tried asking them for something that they were missing, and they blew me off, and told me to eat what was available. Theyre not wrong, but they can work on their customer service. At one of the best Chinese Buffets Ive been to (in California) they would make you a roll with whatever you wanted in it. Havent seen a place like that yet.

Food is great but service is rude. My fiance was on an important phone call for quite some time and didnt realize that the bell for his food was ready. The cook..... Yes, little man with the apron that prepared my mans food went to our table and yelled at my fiance because the bell rang and the plate was there. Umm.... Hello.... People deal with life and sometimes, a phone call HAS to be dealt with. We all cant say..."Oh, I know that this conversation is vital to maintaining my cash flow but I hear my Mongolian plate bell to ringing. Hold, please." Poor Service... and yelling at a customer for it...in the restaurant! Rude. Straight Up, Rude.

I love the food variety, especially the fact that they do Mongolian BBQ there. And the sushi is pretty decent too, with a caveat: The platters that serve the sushi MUST remain cold! You CANNOT have sushi with warm plates, thats just wrong. Things start smelling, going bad, declaring war on the rest of the buffet, etc.. And for such an obvious mistake.. I gotta give it just three stars. Ive been going here for over three years. PS the ice cream machine was broke tonight. In some wired cliche of Chinese buffet... I feel it wasnt one simply because of that fact and almost wanted a refund (OK not really (well, I guess half serious on that))
