Let me preface this review by stating that our server was attentive and friendly. This review in no way reflects his service since he was great Summary: A steakhouse that doesnt know how to cook steaks, but charges you the prices of a steakhouse that should know how to cook steaks. This review reflects the quality, or lack thereof, of the steaks of this establishment and the way it was handled by the manager on duty. We were a small group of people on what seemed to be a very slow day at The Barn Door. Me and one other ordered the New York Strip cooked Medium Rare. The steaks arrived about 40-45 minutes after being ordered. No big deal, sometimes some places take a while and I was in good company. Now most people can tell the difference between a Medium Rare and Medium Well steak strictly by the feeling when you first cut by the feeling of tenderness. This steaks (both of them) were obviously Medium Well, both in color, temperature, and tenderness. Given the price of the steak and the time waited, we brought it to our servers attention. Our server, kindly and quickly, took them back and brought us new steaks. The second set of steaks brought out were cooked Rare (which Im a fan of) but cold in the center. Not lukewarm, but cold. So as to not want my server to think I was looking for a free meal (which I did not want and did not request, nor get) I cut a piece and had him touch the center (a non-bitten piece, obviously). My servers words "Wow, thats freezing. Ill go get my manager." When the manager came, she actually said that the first set of steaks were "perfectly fine, and were cooked to their standard" and "the steaks (the second set) seemed to be rushed by the cook so he could get them to us quickly", and even going so far as to partially blame the lighting in the establishment for the color of the overcooked, obviously not medium rare, steaks. Didnt realize the lighting only affected 3 of the 5 plates served on the table, nor did I realize lighting affected the tenderness of steaks. Ill have to keep that in mind next time. Never again.

Good, food awful service. 4 of us dined for a birthday celebration. Our server Ashley was very slow. It took a long time for her to even come acknowledge us. We had to ask her 2 times for straws, we never saw her so 3 times we had to waive other servers for drink refills. She never offered to refill our bread basket. My steak was ordered well done and butterflied. When I cut into the steak it was medium and bloody so I waited and waited until another server walked by. I asked her to send it back and she told me, Next time, ask for them to butterfly it. I told her I did. My 3 friends had all finished their steaks and Ashley finally brought my steak back. I mentioned to her that I had finished my baked potato and everyone was finished with their steaks. She NEVER apologized, just stared blankly at me and said why dont you cut into that steak and make sure its cooked right. I was SO annoyed and disappointed with the dinner. She kept forgetting about us and I really wanted to forget her tip but we did not. Just make sure if you dine here insist on another server if a blonde named Ashley comes to your table.

Came here based on the many 4 star reviews, and was more than a little disappointed. Maybe those reviewers are comparing it to Golden Coral? Think of a western themed, slightly down-market Outback Steakhouse and youll be close. First, ignore the salad. A massive pile of cold, flavorless iceberg topped with equally flavorless croutons and one ice cold cherry tomato (which was still the best part of the bowl). The blue cheese dressing was pretty much tasteless, too. The "baked" potato was cooked in foil, so it was steamed more than baked. Dont look for a crispy skin here. On the bright side, they give you lots of toppings. The steaks were OK, but far from premium, and way overpriced for what they are. They claim to cook over mesquite and charcoal, but the mesquite flavor minimal. Maybe they should use more wood and less charcoal. They werent bad, but given the cheap atmosphere, mediocre sides, and middling cuts of meat, the meal was overpriced by at least 50%

I recently went with a group of 14 and as a whole the group had a fairly miserable dining experience. 1 steak was served that had a "foot" odor and extremely off-putting taste to it (confirmed by 3 others) that ruined one guests night. 2 steaks were incorrectly cooked (both ordered med-rare and served well done). 3 people were given the incorrect meal. 1 guest was given his steak ~20 minutes after everyone else had received theirs (it wasnt a re-order or sent back to the kitchen). A couple people had the wrong orders on their checks and a couple others were never given water refills. The only saving factor from a one star was that my steak was all right. Not great, but better than "foot" steak.

Poor phone skills, Poor service - called for a take out order and was put on hold, 9 mins later I was disconnected? I called back and was asked again to be placed on hold, I said OK, maybe they are real busy. I was disconnected within a Minute, called back and the man that answered the phone sorry shes not back yet and was asked to placed on hold, I just asked him to place an order for pick up, he said he does not take orders and he asked me to place on hold. I disconnected. I was given a gift card from a friend to eat here. I didnt want to write a review on this site but like the poor phone service they have no email account and you had to call them at the same number for take out.

It looks like this place is beloved but my to go experience was something short of that. I order this salad at 11:30 thinking "I have 30 min for lunch, I can order, pick up, return to the office and eat within that time". Not the case. I arrive at barn door at 12:15 due to a delay at work. My salad is not ready and then I am asked to pay an absurd amount for it. I wait about 10 min and the order they bring out is not my order. Wait another two minutes and it arrives looking like that. The sweet tea was good though. I just had higher expectations for this salad at $15 with a $2.50 sweet tea. I wont waste my time with that experience again.

Always have wonderful food here. And friendly service. Weve always been greeted at the door when we walk in, whether its just the two of us, or all 15 for a family gathering. The level of service and high quality food is always wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant. And . . . If you are going to be celebrating someones birthday, and you call a day, or two ahead, a birthday greeting be posted up on the billboard above the restaurant! And it is not an electronic sign; someone has to climb a ladder and physically mount individual letters on the sign. They know how to honour their guests.
