I was a guest there last Saturday. I was in visiting from Florida. This was my first time dining in. I was so excited to try this place out. I have heard so much about this place. We had a table for 8 in the main dining area. The waitress had poor customer service skills. My sister waited 30 minutes for her strawberry margarita. As the waitress came back my sister has asked her about her drink and the waitress went to check the bar to see where the drink was. She came back to our table to tell us that she forgot to put in her order for her drink. She also never refilled out water, nor did she ask if we wanted anymore drinks from the bar. Towards the end of our meal, our table was never pre-bussed. We literally sat there with all of our dirty dishes as we visited. It was my last night in San Marcos. We also had gotten Our deserts to go. When she came back all of our deserts were all thrown together in one big bag. I asked her why it was all thrown in one bag when we were all separate checks and she said the kitchen had no way of knowing. My cousin was the only one Who ordered her desert to eat while we were there. So she asked the waitress where her desert was. She then proceeded to tell her that she ordered it to go, but she will bring it out for her. I work in the food industry and you never let a guest know that they were wrong. She should have just said " Maam I will be more than happy to bring that out for you. Our food was also cold. Overall the atmosphere was great, but the customer service was terrible!

I have eaten at 54th street twice now. The first time I went there I really enjoyed it and we had great service and food. I visited a second time and had great service again and the food was good. A few hours after eating there I started to feel dizzy, nauseous, and began throwing up; I knew right away it was food poisoning. I ended up spending the whole night in the bathroom and was unable to go to work the next day. I called just to give them a heads up, I even told them that I wasnt calling to complain or anything and that I understand stuff like this happens. I spoke to the assistant manager who was a complete jerk and basically denied that I had gotten food poisoning from them because "food poisoning shows up 24-48 hours after eating contaminated food" (according to him, an assistant manager of a restaurant- not a doctor). Yes, some cases take longer than others, but in most cases signs and symptoms show up hours after eating the contaminated food. He was very rude and said "maybe the food just didnt settle right and thats why you had a stomach ache." This guy obviously has never had food poisoning before, its more than a "stomach ache." He kept denying that it was from them because symptoms wouldnt show up that soon after eating contaminated food. I WILL NOT be returning to 54th street. Not because I got food poisoning, but because of the disrespect I experienced when talking to the assistant manager.

My son took me there for dinner tonight, I was totally dissatisfied. Waitress was nice, but lazy...we waited for a little over 40 minutes for our food, I noticed her coming back into the restaurant through the front door. My sons prime rib sandwich was lukewarm, and the horseradish sauce was dumped in the middle of the sandwich, he ordered fries as his side and there was 10 fries on his plate, that was cold. I ordered the special, 9 oz steak w/ baked potato. My steak was warm, not hot, my baked potato was so cold the butter wouldnt even melt. My sons girlfriends shrimp and chicken fettuccini was warm with maybe 5 bits of shrimp on it. My son sat there with nothing to drink until he was done eating and the waitress finally asked if he wanted more dr.pepper. She didnt ask once if everything was good, or if we wanted dessert, she bought us our bill and asked if we wanted to go boxes. By this time everything was so cold, you could taste the slimy grease that the food was prepared in. Over $60.00 wasted. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Ive loved this restaurant but tonight they completely failed me. I ordered a rattlesnake pasta and a pretzel burger with bacon and cheese with a side of potato soup, and we ordered to go via their pickup service. I didnt know until I got home that they had left out the potato soup completely, a small mistake but one you wouldnt expect of a high value restaurant with $15+ entrees. I expect that out of McDonalds. However, to my great distress my rattlesnake pasta veggies and shrimp were not only burnt, but the whole dish had a burnt aftertaste like it sat in the pan too long and they put it into the plate anyways. This is completely not cool, and makes me want to never order from this place again. Weve been loyal customers, but after this they may have lost us. Its unacceptable. The waitresses are awesome - but the chefs need to find a new line of work if they cant put at least a little effort into their food.

Wasnt what I thought it would be. My steak was over seasoned and kind of mushy or chewy if you would. I ordered mashed potatoes & would of preferred brown gravy rather than white. Tea tasted as if it had to much artificial sweetener in it. Service wasnt that terrible but you could tell this was our waiters first restaurant job. Overall it wasnt what everyone made it to be. I had Montanna Mikes in New Brainfels the other day and thought it had a much better taste. This place just isnt for me, I think Ill stick to Texas Roadhouse if Ill have steak here in SM or Montanna Mikes if I head out of town. This place reminded me & my wife of an off version of Applebees. Waited about 40-50 mins for our food when it wasnt that busy.

Food was great! That is the sole reason for the 1 star, the service was so bad!!! Our waitress was very slow, only checked on our table once, when we told her to please bring our check it was 15 minutes later before we received them. As far as the hostess, when she was asked by 2 elderly ladies to have their table dried, she proceeded to hand them a huge stack of paper towels and walked away. Like I said the food was great, service was horrible! Also not sure if its a manage, but the unkempt look and the huge ring of keys clipped to your pocket, looked more like you should work at a zoo! I would think a newer restaurant would be a bit more worried about the image they are presenting to their patrons. Very sloppy!

I had a great experience at this place. A friend of mine suggested it and its a place Ive never been to because I live in Houston. It was kind of crowded for lunch so we ended up sitting at the bar and I have to say it was great service. They made a small mistake by mixing my order with another customer at another table. But not only did they promptly get back to the kitchen and get my order correct, they made everything perfect. The manager even came by to personally apologize. Ive been in other establishment where they have messed up and all you get is a "Oops, my bad". We had great service from the two bartenders working. I wish I knew their names. The food was great too. Ill definitely be back
