I will not even give this place a single star. (it made me put a star before it would take this comment! just another horrible thing about this place!) on June 15th. I took my elderly father to this place to have a good small diner meal, he is from a small town and I thought he would enjoy a home style diner meal, Well he ordered a breakfast that came with biscuit and gravy, the gravy was like thick plaster and the biscuits had been microwaved to the point they were burned in the center, I mean almost black! The sausage was under cooked, the hash browns should have been called hash blacks! they were also burned. All he was able to eat were the eggs. I had the bacon cheese burger, it was okay at best- even if it did come dry! the onion rings were under cooked and the SWEET tea was unsweet! I would have complained to the waitress, but she was on her cell phone and once she dropped off the food, we never saw her again. now if they had been busy thats one thing, but we were the only table in the place! that should have been my first clue! any way we paid $20.00 for a meal we could not eat, and the only reason we did that is due to the fact my father is a gentleman! we had to go to McDonalds and get another meal we could actually eat and pay again. and by the way, If the waitress would get off that huge butt of hers and pay attention to her JOB and not her PHONE she might have a smaller butt and get better tips!(she got a penny from me!) I hope she has another job, or her family will starve to death! It was embarrassing to have taken my dad there. I will never recommend this place to anyone, nor will I ever eat there again! This is not Texas hospitality. It was a lazy, I just dont care kinda place! My 16 year old son is a better cook! I hope that who ever is brave enough to eat there has a better time than we did! ps- I think most of these reviews are from employees, or family members- theres just no way they got those legit! We went here for breakfast this morning after hearing some good reviews on Facebook. We were definitely not mislead. The atmosphere was inviting and fun, the service was super welcoming, like youre visiting family, and the food was fantastic. I had the Eggs Benedict with Hashbrowns and it was so delicious. My husband had an omelet with Hasbrowns and the homemade salsa. We did have to wait noticeably longer for the food to arrive than were used to BUT our kids are in school and we were able to just sit, relax and talk just the two of us which was a welcome bonus to the morning. Overall, we would HIGHLY recommend Route 66!! Well be back for sure.

The service here is really poor 30min. wait on food then the order comes out incomplete and out of order, food was tasteless ,the onion rings were soggy ,the sausage tasted like rubber and the waitress never came back to the table to ask for refill on our drinks so we basically ate our food with nothing to wash it down the eggs also tasted like something from McDonalds but had to pay a dollar more to get this place doesnt look kept up with very well none of the cooks in the kitchen have hats or hair nets on I WILL DEFINITELY NEVER BE COMING BACK TO THIS OH SO CLASSIC DINNER!!!!

On Fathers Day, we scoured Rockwall for a great breakfast place. With the interstate restaurants covered up with half of the towns population, we decided to go downtown. We were greeted promptly, seated within 5 minutes, served within 2 minutes and relaxed sitting with our family enjoying the deliciousness of pancakes, sausage and hashbrowns. It was totally worth walking a little bit to park. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast and best Fathers Day experience in a restaurant!

Horrible service - we didnt mind the wait for a table but the wait for the food over 40 minutes for an incomplete order. The food was OK - typical diner food but our waitress couldnt have paid less attention to us. She would drop off my plate while shouting to a nearby customer about thier bill and walked away without even looking at me. Instead of giving anyone even satisfactory service she gave everyone crummy service. I wouldnt go back or recommend to friends.

Love the atmosphere and the amount of food you get for the price is a nice catch. Ive been here during the lunch rush and even though they were busy the service never falters. The food quality is beyond what I expected the first time I came in and it hasnt slacked. The one thing I take issue with is the parking situation, its out of their control, but if you get their during a busy day youll be stuck in the back and its hard getting out of there sometimes.

We love this diner. We go about two or three times a month. It is a nice change from the chain places (i.e. IHOP). They have large portions of delicious food, with great prices! Most plates are 5 bucks...and for mine that includes two eggs, hashbrowns, toast, bacon and gravy...plus endless coffee for about a buck fifty! Give it a try. The inside may look a little rough around the edges but once you eat and see the great staff at work you wont mind!

Both the food and the service were excellent. Server was upbeat and friendly. The place was busy and the wait for the food was reasonable considering the tiny kitchen in which they cook for 20+ tables. I had Migas and they were excellent. Love the homemade salsa that came with it. Weekends are swamped and there is a distinct possibility of having to wait for a table.

I love to visit local diners so my friends and I made a point to try this one. We went for a late lunch and Im guessing they make their eggs advance since they were overcooked and lukewarm like they had been under a heat lamp for a while. The pancakes were pretty dry/stale too. Maybe they are ok earlier in the day but we wont be back try it.

This is your classic diner experience - except that it seemed a little crowded, with the tables extremely close to each other, and the lighting is a bit strange - the interior is a bit dark, lit by pink/orange neon lights. The food is adequate, but without flair.

Cute place, but terrible service. We waited an hour for our food and never got it because we walked out. Never once did they check on us and then they were very rude when we walked out and they asked us to pay for our drinks. I refused to pay for our drinks.

Been going here for years. The food is really good and the classic diner ambiance isnt forced. Service can be a bit wanting when they are busy so dont go here if youre used to an IHOP style get em in and out as fast as possible style of service.

BLT appeared to be made of bacon bits and took over a half hour to be brought to my table - it was just me eating my myself. Slow service & poor aesthetics. The only reason for any stars is that it still tasted like bacon.
