Weve been only once so far and we had a great experience! Food and service was excellent! The exterior might trick you....because its not impressive. Inside the place is as cute as it could be. Its very clean and inviting in a small-hometown kind of way. There are TVs playing sports with the volume down and (believe it or not!) an honest to goodness jukebox! What fun! We were seated immediately and were promptly served a basket of tasty piping-hot hush puppies. Our booth was comfortable. The fixins bar had lots of fresh choices including a tasty coleslaw. We ordered and were served our meals while they were still too hot to eat. I had catfish fillets and my wife ordered pollack. We were both very pleased with our selections. Fillets were large - all serving sizes were ample. I consider it to be a good value in proportion to the prices. The staff is a welcome mix of race, gender and age which closely matches the restaurants clientele. Shortly before we left a musician sat down with his acoustic guitar and began performing his "Oasis-style" smooth jazz set. The performance volume level was perfect. If you wished to hold discussions at your table you could do so in normal tones. If you wanted to be entertained by the musician instead you could do that too. My wife and I actually stayed after our meal was finished until we saw others waiting for a table- just to enjoy a little bit more. His performance just added the icing on the cake of a great experience! Our waiter was great! He obviously cares about providing great service! He checked on us regularly and always seemed to be scanning tables for indication of a guest in need then reacting promptly when beckoned. We met both the owner and the manager during our meal. Both visited guests and came to our table at different times during our meal to be sure everything was perfect. It was! Everything was excellent! We will be back!

Swai or not.to Swai, that is the question. I.do not understand what.the hype is about this, so-called catfish at this restaurant. Im usually not one.to lean towards the negative but in this case, i couldnt help myself. Lets begin with the relish.bar, theres a.saying in the middleeast...",The eyes eat first" well, my eyes didnt want to eat ANYTHING on the relish bar. I ordered 1 catfish fillet dinner with two fillets hush puppies and fries came with it. When my order came out, the.cashier flashed the lid so i could see the fish which was golden brown(looked ok). When i got in my car, i went ahead.and sampled a.small piece.of fish. My response was...."Wha, Wha, Wha"....What the??? I was so disappointed, like Linus in a Peanuts movie. I thought, "this cannot be any catfish i have ever prepared or purchased, and i.usually purchase catfish at Costco and it is actually CATFISH! So my question is..."Does anyone in the State of.Texas know what.catfish is suppose.to taste like???? Apparently, Papadeaux restaurants do and Pappas Seafood restaurants do, so i ask....WZUP with yall? Cmon, dont mess with Texas. Sorry Seafood Cove, its thumbs down for us.

I have NEVER IN MY LIFE experienced such horrible attitudes and service. The daughter/grand daughter of the original owners seems to run the place now. I had a group of 25 meet here for dinner. We called days in advance. She explained that they dont take reservations. Which was fine, but her attitude was horrible, yet the group was already planning to go there. When we came, it was completely dead. We always like to sit together. She was not accommodating and talked down to our group, tried to belittle us and was beyond rude. Their food is okay, but not the best Ive had. Due to that and their attitude, I dont see this aged facility lasting much longer. If she stays the guardian of this establishment, they will surely not be around in 10 years. Id like to see a GOOD family restaurant in its place! Bulldoze please! In way of food, I had the blackened catfish... honestly, it did not taste like traditional blackened catfish (some odd herbs). It was over cooked and chewy. I could go elsewhere, pay far less, and get better food and way better service. Do yourself a favor, go to Razoos down the road (theyre cheaper).

Got to be one of Mesquites best kept secrets. Good service, atmosphere and reasonably priced food. I wanted some Catfish. Stopped at a service station down the road with a Catfish sign but they were cleaning the grease and preparing to open ... at 11:30 AM on a Saturday, holiday weekend. Prices were all right but for the amount of food ... a stretch. Moved on up the road and came across Catfish Cove. WOW! Much more bounce for the ounce. Catfish, Shrimp and Salad Bar for the same price I would have paid for filets and shrimp at the service station. The service station vendor had better hope people dont find out about the Cove ... they may be out of business ... IJS (Im Just Saying). Did I mention the hospotality? Young waitress was training a new employee and made the wait educational. Try it ... I think you will be very pleased.

Im surprised at the negative reviews...Its rare tht I eat catfish but when I do I go here and its great to the point where I dont go else where...The salad bar doesnt have actual salad it has pea salad, black eyepea salad, pickeled okra, pickeled carrots which are nasty to me, canned peaches, etc its not the best wish they included an actual salad bar however I do like some of the choices ..If your just looking for catfish n fries then this is the place. I never dined in but the inside has antique items which are interesting. Feels like home very dim lighting. I believe they have kareoke are some type of performance on certain days... Oh No... its Mon. I came here to get there ph# n there closed every Mon. Which sucks cus I had my mouth ready...Guess ill go to Carl Jrs...I stay about 5min from both..Happy eating peeps;-)

Are these negative reviewers insane. I have been eating here since the late 70,s about 10 times a year would be 20 plus times a year if i lived closer. Of course people that go to a texas cafish "joint and ordered grilled fish probably would look down on it. the hushpuppies are to die for ,spicy and greasy, no bland corn bread here . the catfish is cooked properly (dropped into some good ol bubblin grease) the way catfish should be cooked. The waitress are friendly and ol school be prepared to be calledhon a lot. my only complaint has always been the salad bar which has no salad but most regular patrons talk about their pickled tomato stuff in reverant tones including all my family eexcept for me. have always said my last meal request if i had a choice would be catfish cove.

We frequent here, well WE USE TO, but after tonight we will no long patronize this place or pay salaries of those that give poor service and managers that are rude and sarcastic. Its sad because I really liked their food, but I work very hard for the money I have and will not pay to be treated poorly. The manager, when we tried to speak to her about it, just smirked and laughed a number of times. When we asked when the owner would be in, she laughed. There is no more respect for paying customers, we paid our full bill we werent asking for a discount. We just wanted to voice our unhappiness of the night. After 20+ years of eating there, tonight was my last time!
