The food here is consistently excellent. Every time I visit it is absolutely wonderful. The desserts far surpass any other upscale italian restaurant in Houston, that I have been to at least. The atmosphere is romantic. Pianist playing at dinner. However the overall decor could use a little updating. It seems a little outdated. The service is very good. Right when you walk in you are greeted warmly. the wait staff is very attentive. One thing I dont like is there is this one waiter, a young guy, who always corrects my pronunciation of the italian dishes. I know it is a petty thing to complain about, but correcting people, especially your customers in a restaurant, is just rude. I am not Italian, I was born and raised in Texas so my Italian is not great, but if you know what I am saying, there is no need to correct me. Other than that the service is great. Everyone from the wait staff to the servers who bring the bread are very polite. Wait staff is usually very knowledgeable about the menu. One thing I do have to complain about is the way the bartender is always dressed. This is a fairly nice place. All the wait staff and other staff are dressed nicely. But the bartender, a young girl, is always dressed pretty skanky. Short shorts, high heels, short dresses, cleavage showing, etc. I just think it is inappropriate. If I come here to have a nice lunch or dinner I dont want to be staring at some girl dressed like she works at hooters. Im surprised management would allow her to dress like that. Especially since she is the first person you see when you walk into the door.

Went here while on Business in Houston, and it was the best decision that I ever made! The food is outstanding! I mean goodness, it was all delicious. The selection of bread is outstanding, they come by with a GIANT tray for you to select from. The appetizers were out of this world. The risotto is a must, I dont even like mushrooms but it was sooo good. We got the special ravioli appetizer and that I could talk about for years, it was filled with mascarpone and ricotta with a poached egg. Delicious! I could eat a whole plate of that! I wish it was a main dish! Yum. The entree was delicious as well. I loved everything that I ate there except for the dessert, it didnt make me feel wow. But the rest of dinner was well worth it. I would highly recommend and return. I returned here with a ton of coworkers the other week and everything was great. I made a reservation and we ended up in the wine room, that room is amazing. Roberto was very nice and went above and beyond for our group. It was outstanding customer service. This time I ordered the butternut squash soup, and the ravioli as an entree, it was a little too decadent as an entree to me though. The edges of the ravioli were a little undercooked/overcooked, it was still super hard. so that was disappointing. I did get the risotto, but the cheese wheel is not prepared for lunch, but it was still delicious. I also got a birthday dessert and it was great.

And now its Sorrentos turn to be reviewed. Reservation easy, valet parking, we arrived on time & were sat in the lovely wine room. Knowing we were a review group they claimed the chef wanted us to try an appetizer: 1 crunchy, bland ravioli for which we were later charged $12 apiece. We were not given a menu & only offered to pick from 3 items with no price divulged. The waiter did divulge that we were his only table the entire night. I picked the seafood risotto dish. Halfway into my mediocre meal I bit into one of the mussels. It mustve been rotten because it was the most disgusting taste ever. I had to wrap it in a napkin and put it on my plate. I let the waiter know and he did not do anything about it, It took a day to get rid of the taste in my mouth. Luckily, I did not get sick. Next, I will skip to the bill. We were not offered separate bills and began to figure out our share. Gratuity was not included on the bill. When the change was returned I could not make the math work. After 10 minutes the waiter walked in and said that he had pulled his gratuity out of our change without telling us. I was dumbfounded. The only pleasant thing about the evening was the live piano playing. We will never return to Sorrentos.

This place blows! It took 45 min to be sat on a Friday night with reservations. The carpaccio which has no prep time took 30 mins. When it came the meat had no flavor and tasted like olive oil. Two medium rare veal cuts took 45 mins. to come out of the kitchen. My plate had 5 asparagus stocks and 5 green beans on it. The menu description should have read, "veal medallion, 2 2oz. veal medallions and 5 stocks of asparagus for $28.00". the veal was really tasty but for the price you can have a nice steak and better service at any of the 100s of great restaurants in Houston. When I told the owner about my experience he argued with me and asked what other fine dining restaurants I had been to that got me my food faster. Then he said that isnt how we do it here you should spend 2 hours waiting on your food and there shouldnt be any kind of rush to put food on the table. He was not apologetic in the least for the poor execution of his restaurant. My date and I were out $100 and were still hungry. We went to Mais to eat afterwards in order to easy the hunger!!

This is the best place for a late lunch! The owner, waiters, and even the guy who parks your car treats you like a celebrity. If you let the waiter tell you whats good, he will make your meal memorable. The wine he recommends is usually fairly priced, and more importantly, a perfect compliment to the meal to come. Even the martinis are the coldest. Sorrentos has some of the best seafood in town, cooked to perfection with outstanding side dishes to compliment the entree. The pasta is excellent as well. Probably not the best place for steak, but I have had excellent veal specials. The salads are very good, and the lobster bisque is the best in Houston. Dont overlook sharing one of their fabulous deserts. I always try to eat out on the patio because its usually quiet in the afternoons for late lunches so you can take your time hear yourselves talk. My favorite restaurant in Houston!

Simply amazing. This 5 star restaurant is worth your time! The decor is very nice and not over done. The service was excellent; we wanted for nothing. I had the filet mignon. I asked for Pittsburgh style (black on outside, rare on inside): whoever cooked it must like it that way because it was perfectly done. I cant do as well at home! My risotto was superb. My fiance had snapper atop lobster risotto. Again, it was perfect. They had a nice selection of wines along with a sommelier in case you needed some help. The bread tray was exceptional. We will return!

Two weeks ago I went in this place to speak with the management about a guy pretending to park vehicles on the behalf of their customers. I informed him that the same guy has been charging people to park on the streets and hes a nuisance. The manager said he doesnt work for him but yet the guy was standing right outside the door. So until the manager does run this guy off, I advise everyone consdering to go there to be extra cautious about your vehicles. Do NOT pay someone just to watch your vehicle. Parking is free on the street. Manager: run this guy off!
