Have I just been on a ramen craze, or has Houston been trending with new ramen spots?! It might be a little bit of both, but I aint mad at it (especially with this cold weather coming through). Agu Ramen recently opened its doors (3 of them) in Houston, so I stopped by the closest one to my area in the Energy Corridor. I went to eat with a group of 6, and easily found a table around 11:30A on a Saturday. The space is filled with booths, community low bars (similar to Jinya), and tables. There are industrial style light fixtures hanging with exposed wires and large bulbs, and gray washed wood accents throughout the restaurant. Its kid friendly, but questionable for a large stroller to be pushed through. The staff was friendly, and would come by to refil waters, or remove any lingering plates. My only wishes were that the staff had more personal recommendations, and the gyoza available for order (since thats what my daughter wanted). Overall it was a good experience and I truly enjoyed their ramen! Some of my favorites: Karaage, Spicy Kotteri

Very high marks on the broth and Iidako. The wait staff was not well trained, the wait time for our food to show after ordering was bordering on absurd and the noodles were nothing special. That said the broth is very balanced and absolutely divine. A cut above other Houston ramen joints which I have visited. In spite of the poor marks, the broth alone was good enough for me to return later that same week with more co-workers. All of whom enjoyed the food while questioning the poor and slow service. However I must note that the noodles were much better upon the second visit. This place could be a big hit if they clean up the service and kitchen times. I plan on returning later this month with out of town family.

I have eaten a lot of Japanese food growing up with my Japanese grandmother. This place has over-priced sub-par ramen in my opinion. I ordered yuzu jidori and the broth smelled great, however the flavor was missing something. I took my order to go and let the noodles soak in broth when I got home. I tried the noodles and they were not soaking up the broth even after I left it to set again. The portion was tiny and I just couldnt help but feeling like I was robbed. You dont need a Japanese grandmother to find good ramen in Houston. Just google another place. Im not sure why this place has 3.5 stars before I reviewed.

Arrived at 12:50, seated at 1:00, got food at 2:00. Took an hour for them to serve 2 basic bowls of ramen. Manager kept pointing to our table trying to ask the non-compliment waiters if our order was placed. It took them 1 hour for them to make a meal that would take less than 10 minutes to make. They didnt even give us any complimentary discount for waiting so long. The people behind us came in 30 minutes after us and got served within 20 minutes. Not coming back here until the manager hires more staff. Unacceptable.

The food is okay, but not great - certainly not for the price they charge. The price is way out of proportion to the serving size. Ramen is not haute cuisine. It is in fact the food of the common man in Asia and can range from simple to very hearty and priced to be affordable. But I guest with the 10 percenters working in the energy corridor here, you cant blame a business for trying to rake as much in as possible.

Serving staff was terrible. Incredibly awkward to deal with. Ordered the chicken karage and the seasoning was bland/flavorless. The sauce they serve with the karage taste like 100℅ vinegar with chopped green onions. This dish is know for its sauce, how could you mess it up that bad lol. Friend ordered ramen and it came with 3 very thin slices of meat for $12. Would not recommend.

I heard a lot of so so reviews so after i tried this place, it took me by surprise! Definitely one of the fine ramen place in Houston! Its not cheap but acceptable. We order spicy ramen, however they charged the spicy sauce for $1. You would think it should be part of the deal, but NO! That was a bit odd.. but over all experience was ok, attentive and friendly service! :)

Tried the ramen here and its just ok. The broth seemed very lacking and bland. The portion is pretty disappointing and comes with 2~3 slices of paper thin pork. Better off going to more popular places such as Tiger Den, Jinya, etc. since youll get a more fulfilling experience if youre looking for ramen.

Bad service, took almost 20 minutes to get our foods. Mixed up our order with another customer. Our extra side order egg never came out, then charged us for it. Making matter worse, an uninvited cockroach flew down from nowhere almost landed in my bowl. Not coming back here again.

The Shio Tonkotksu is very good but I could a little bit more noodle. Portion is rather small for a hungry adult man. Dont bother trying their more expensive specialty dishes. No bueno. Just stick with the you-cant-go-wrong tonkotsu.

Perfectly prepared ramen. Although slightly pricier, you should try the tan tan tonkotsu. Silky broth with tasty hand crafted noodles. The char siu is sliced thick and adds a great compliment to the bowl.

Pricey and small quantity compared to others. Been here twice and tried 3 bowls, and noodles are over cooked. Broth quality is good and the pork is leaner than others if you like that.

The food tasted great! The restaurant layout was cool and very clean. Unfortunately, the soft boiled egg was cold in the middle and the portion sizes were very small for the price.

It was ok but not mind blowing. The chicken skin was pretty good though. The noodles werent that great either. Food was served fast so that good but overall it was just ok

Love the fried chicken and chicken skin but the noodle is sooooooooo bad! It was over cooked and just melt in your mouth. Sad.

The only drink I think they had to offer was water and "tea". The ramen was okay. Extremely bland. Probably wont ever come back.

I had the spicy Kotteri level 2. It was delicious, definitely on the same level as Tiger Den. I will definitely be back!

Small quantity, pricey food. Ramen broth is too salty. Noodles are okay. Wait staff looks clueless most of the time.
