I had been here just once before years ago. I went today to place a to-go order with a $50 gift card I had. Originally, I had wanted a bunch of "sides" because I wanted an assortment of food. I had done the math and my grand total was about $42 with all the sides, an appetizer of guac and chips and 2 desserts. They let me know they can only do sides if I order a plate.. I didnt think this made sense considering I was still spending there.. but I said OK and looked over the menu. Chose the sirloin meal with a baked potato and veggies, and a chicken tampiquena with some extra sides on each of them. I made sure to ask the hostess, who put in the order, if the appetizer guac comes with chips. She said yes. I also made sure to repeat it twice to have an extra sour cream for my potato. She went back there to the kitchen and told the cook.. I am assuming. I came to pick up my order 30 min later and it was ready they said, but when the cook came to hand it to me, she went back again twice to get something and had me waiting. Once she came back, I looked in one of the bags and asked if they had gotten my 2 desserts. She said no and went back there and I was waiting an additional 10 min. Fast forward to when I get to work looking forward to the food.. I open the guac come to find out.. they forgot the chips! What is the point of guac with NO chips that I made sure and asked it came with. On top of that, they gave me a tiny container of sour cream for this big, non-buttered, plain baked potato. I made sure and asked for more, more than once. I was very disappointed. They forgot my dessert until I said something, yet still charged for 2 desserts, did not put chips in with my appetizer of guac, and did not put my extra sour cream for my very dry baked potato. The portions were small too and the veggies tasted like they have been boiling in old, dirty water. Not going back at all.

Very sad to see the difference from a couple years ago...very dirty from silverware to restrooms. Asked to have the booster chair cleaned, thank God, i checked it, my granddaughter didnt use it...he brought it back sticky w gunk on sides. The staff was unfriendly and they all looked sloppy and bothered by having to be there. So different from the staff a few years ago, who were attentive and friendly. Our waiter didnt get the side of ranch or poblano sauce and forgot my sisters entree. He made us feel as if he didnt care whether we liked his service or not, didnt smile and didnt respond at all when taking our orders...since they take gratuity out .i can see why he didnt care, he got a fat tip either way. My grilled chicken was very salty and breaded shrimp was dry, it was such a small portion, i saw more of the plate than the food. The bowl the fish soup was served on was crusty on the sides...very bad experience, very sad to see it go downhill. I really miss the old Villa, with a clean atmosphere and staff that had pride in the history of the villa....the poor fish in such small aquariums, such a sad, disappointing experience from all aspects. It wont let you post unless you give it a star. Otherwise , no star at all from me.

Went in here with no expectations and letting there food and service tell all. Order was taken promptly with our appetizer. We got the fried calamari with one coke and lemonade. The entrees were Rockefeller oysters and scallops with a side of mashed potatoes and French fries to share. The drinks were brought quickly as the salads and the fish soup which was fresh and tasted well. They refilled our drinks and neglected to get me the correct refill. It was corrected a few minutes later. My wife had the oysters and they would have been good if not for the excess of toppings on them. I got a plate with 6 scallops bacon wrapped and drenched in sauce which it did not need. The mashed potatoes were dry and hard and was brought rice instead of my fries. Over all this place needs some work on there plates and servers taking orders correctly or kitchen reading the tickets correctly.

This is by far the worst managers/owners response I ever had when something is wrong: The fish I ordered was burnt almost charcoal I usually dont complain if I dont like it I just pay for it and move on with my life, but this time it was too much and I couldnt eat it. Del vivar, the owner, was there and asked to talk to him, not to ask for a free meal or a discount, I dont need that. But instead of facing a costumers complaint he chose to run to the office and ignore the issue. Shame on you if your father was alive He will show you what customer service is and how He got the business to what it is. Shame on you for the lack of bussines service that was traditional at Villa Del Mar. Shame

The Villa Del Mar experience was very poor and frustrating as food and service were abysmal. Service has been the absolute worst Ive received in a long time. The waiter forgot to write down and place my order and forgot to bring anything my family asked. It took forever for my family to get food and drinks (at least 40 minutes for food). We would have to ask someone else for anything such as for more water. The food portions were very small and limited for the price. The food quality and taste were very disappointing as well. Ceviche didnt look very appetizing nor was it any good. Definitely not worth the price. You are better off going to Red Lobster for the price.

Worse experience ever I dont tend to voice my opinion regarding bad service but today was just the worse dinning experince of my life to begin with an excruciating wait time to be seated as a starter I ordered a shrimp cocktail that had a fly in it brought it to my waitress attention that quickly disregarded my complaint and when asked for her superior was given the run around after quite some time finally the most incompetent woman I have ever met named Pricila simply mentioned that she had heard we had a complaint and asked if we were seeking a free meal people like this should not be employed in the customer service field as I too work in customer service

I used to love this place when it first opened. The last 4 times Ive eaten here I got sick. Cramps, bloating, vomiting, rotten egg taste ect. The first time it happened I thought it must have been something else. The second time it could only have been their food. I waited 6 months to a year for my third try. Two or three years later I thought that they must have fixed it but no. I havent gone back in around ten years but sometimes when I drive by I remember eating there in the early days with my grandma. Sirloin Tampiquena and the Cocktail de Camarones where my go to dishes. So sad.

Food was delicious until we found a hair in my boyfriends food. Great service from the waiters but the manager handled things terribly. We had to get her attention in order to tell us what was going to happen. She took the plate and instead of coming right back, she kept walking by our table as if nothing was happening. My boyfriend is a manager for a big corporate company and was so bothered by her terrible service, he asked to speak to her in private after we paid. Instead of listening and taking a complaint/advise, she created an argument and was making excuses for her actions.
