First time I came here, the experience was decent enough. I had the veggie bento which I thought was yummy and filling and good for the price. Boyfriend had the curry which was decent flavor because they clearly used the Japanese boxed curry. But thats common so not a big deal. However the curry came with a small portion of a frozen bag of mixed veggies that normally you dont see in Japanese curry. The tonkatsu was okay. The second time around we ordered two basic rolls which were incredibly bland. The rice wasnt properly seasoned/lacked rice vinegar, and only contained a small portion of the meat component which was surprising. The tempura roll was just rice, seaweed and... A fried shrimp haha. No veggies or kewpie/mayo. Additionally it was oil logged and the shrimp was freezer burnt. The other roll didnt taste fresh in the least. Pretty much all the food is frozen, which Im sure is the sacrifice for keeping prices lower than competing sushi places. Would only come again for the veggie bento if i was craving it and didnt want to spend a lot. Anything else? Ill probably just go to another place. I should also mention however that both visits, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The service is very good. Fast and simple. Ordered bento boxes. But contents werent what I expected. The quality of food is good though Id bet its not that fresh. Not a biggie. Quantity for the price is fair. A variety of choices in the box but spoiler alert! - only 1 piece of shrimp tempura. The rest are veggies and a crab stick, but very good altogether. Place is not too hip. Decent-sized area but I could imagine it to get crowded and full during lunch and dinner hours. Staff is very nice though I just can figure out if its a chinese trying to sound like a japanese or a slant-eyed mexican sounding to be japanese. Funny if youll waste time figuring out. All in all, Id give this cafe 8.75 but not more than 9 out of 10. Yes. Id come back here. Ill recommend it, yes.

I love this place. Finding this place in Dallas was like finding a gold mine, at least for me! I really like Asian food, mainly Japanese and Korean, and Tampopo does a great job at cooking delicious food. Not only is the food delicious, but it is cooked by a staff mentored by a very skilled cheff (who I believe might be the owner, because he has always been there all these years, every day). They doubled the size of the establishment recently, and the place is pretty packed during lunch time. I prefer going when theres not that many people. The background music choice is awesome, and it makes for a very relaxing experience. My favorite dish there is the Bento #2. Their tonkatsu is great, and their tenpura is heavenly.

Concealed in a nondescript corner of upper greenville, this little cafe makes some of the best beef udon Ive had outside of Japan. The inside is nothing spectacular, but when its busy, its always filled with the sound of people enjoying their food. What really tops it off is that the sound system is permanently set to what sounds like the Sirius/XM chillout station. Nothing better than eating delicious udon with Röyksopp and Deep Forest and Mr. Scruff playing in the background ;) Definitely worth a visit!

Great food, great prices, and my favorite casual sushi place in town. I support this place actively and go about once a week. The sushi and udon is superb and the staff are wonderful people. This is the best equation of quality/portions/price. Youll spend way less and get more authentic japanese food from this place than most mainstream sushi joints. Someone said the food was bland, but Ive never gotten a bad plate from this place and have tried most of the menu.

The eel tempura roll was just delicious. The salmon sashimi was excellent. Both at a good price. The spicy salmon rolls were pretty good too. Spider rolls made out of fried soft shell crab had an aftertaste which made them feel not fresh. Wont be ordering that again. Overall Tampopo will be a place I will be visiting more in the future, it is relaxed and the menu flexible and with excellent pricing.

Fantastic place for a bit more traditional Japanese cuisine experience. I had the Unagi Eel bowl, grilled perfectly over rice (with a bit of tamago too!). My lunchmates had several bento boxes, which had a great variety and full of food. Unanimous reports of delicious food returned from them. Again, a great place for those who desire a more Japanese eatery than sushi fusion and house music.

I admit it, their food is good, but please please do yourself a favor and do not get their sushi bowls. I wish I could post a picture. Imagine 8 pieces of tuna over a slab of rice. Thats IT! $12. If a chef present that kind of crap to a real asian, he will get slapped. thats a big shame because I liked this place, just never get sushi bowls.

Im no longer living in the neighborhood, but whenever I find myself near Caruth and Greenville, I make a stop at Tampopo. The owner is delightful to talk to, and the staff remembers regulars. The miso is top notch, and the edamame is just right. This is the perfect place to enjoy some sushi without emptying your wallet.

This is a great authentic Japanese Cafe. The people are very nice, service is very good, and the food is great. I order the bento box with miso soup and it never fails to fill me up and be delicious. My favorite lunch spot in the area, and thats saying something considering how many restaurants there are in the area.

I visited the new Plano location for Tampopo and it was awful. I ordered a selection of specialty rolls and they were poor, poor quality. Ive been trying different japanese restaurants in the area and this is the worst by far. In fact, it makes all the other places look golden. Its cheap but it is so not worth it.

I totally enjoyed this restaurant. they provide classic Japanese food prepared in the traditional style.. Excellent quality, delightful presentation and a small, but very cozy atmosphere. The chef is very professional and cares about the responses from his customers. BTW.. Tampopo literally means " Dandelion ".

Whenever people talk about good authentic Japanese food, this is the place people are thinking about. Great food, including sushi at a great price, nice comfortable setting and great service. Highly recommend their bento box and sushi bar. If you are in the area, stop by, its worth it.

I got a roll combo at lunch time, and the rolls were really good. They were tightly rolled, and stayed together when I picked them up with the chop sticks. Their prices were also very reasonable! I will definitely be going back to see what the rest of the menu is like!

I do not know what you guys put in your ginger salad dressing, but it is hands down, the BEST house salad I have ever had. My boyfriend and I will come here specifically for that salad. The sushi and yakitori is good too....
