Came here on a date which started out great but ended with great disappointment. I live in Fort Worth and read about this place online. The drinks were great, and the music was ok because the dj kept mixing from one extreme of genre to another but we like to dance so we just adapted to whatever he put on. Over all, the eclectic, artful ambiance was great. The moment it went south was when I went to close out my tab and found out the bar tender Emerson, had lost my debit card. Another guy searched for my card for a while and could not find it. In this day in age where theft of credit and identity information occurs on a regular basis, you could just imagine how I felt. Finally, the gentleman looking for my card explained that he couldnt find it and would have to follow up with my, so he took my info. My date with my GF ended with me on the phone with Wells Fargo most of the way and asking my GF to pay for food. To make it worse, I had to borrow money from her to buy my daughters school supplies and uniforms on Sunday. On Sunday since I didnt receive a call or email, I decided to call Café Salsera my self. I spoke with the manager who located my card, but by this time, the damage had been done. I had already called to cancel my card and had another one issued. This might of seemed like a small blunder to those responsible, but it had a number of significant effects. If I were to go there again, I will most probably pay with cash.

Restaurant was dead, i know why. Hair was in my friends pancakes and the table next to us had hair in their food too. The server had her long hair down and you would think after two hair complaints she would put it up. 3 people was in our party and the server put auto gratuity on our checks. I tip 20% so it wasnt a big deal but I would like the opportunity to give the server the tip she deserved. The food was decent but pricey for what was served. $12 for a omelet seems ridiculous, it literally came with a omelet... no potatoes or toast. Needless to say I will not return to this restaurant and taking time out of my day to write a review to prevent others from wasting their Sunday shows how bad of a expieriance I actually had.

The drinks and coffee are solid but the food is lacking terribly from composition to execution. Flavorless, super tough, cold and dry is how I can sum up the three entrées we took a swing at with the count adding up to the proverbial strike out! But wait, I thought it was a 3 strike count. The Pork skewers = dry, tough, flavorless, and roomtemp. Steak tacos = same. The Mole Chicken = dry and tough. (The plantains were amazing though) Perhaps this establishment is overreaching in that its focus and niche may be limited to that of a standard live venue nightclub with the restaurant side being no more than a means of creating some bad publicity. Service seemed fine and the happy hour is solid.

Terrible service. Mediocre over priced drinks which took longer than the food to get to our table, when the first drink finally came 30 mins after ordering we were told that the other drink just ran out and took another 10 mins to get a replacement. Food was 50/50 w the mofongo dry w pockets of unblended seasoning, the vegetarian albondigas were a good take on the classic but the kitchen was incredibly slow for being not crowded at all. The manager was entirely apathetic tell us that he has been to places where the service is this bad too and it is slow because they were crowded earlier. This is a great interior after the renovations, I cant wait to see what the next restaurant does with it.

The worst dining experience we have had in deep ellum. There was one other table when we arrived so it would be assumed service should be fairly quick but it was not. All the food came out missing sauces/ingredients or had extra unwanted ingredients not listed on the menu. Took about 25 minutes for a burger, quesadilla, burrito and salad to come out. The burrito was flavorless and really uninspired. The most irritating thing was that some kind of custodial employee was vaccuuming and running a floor buffer around out table while we were eating which is highly inappropriate. Left feeling very disappointed and unsatisfied.

Its a really nice restaurant, but the service is really bad. There was two tables there for lunch; my wife and I and another couple. We still waited about 40 minutes for our food which was just pork tacos and a salad. Oh, and the salsa was so watery we thought it was v8 with cilantro. Anyways, the quality of the food we ordered was great, just took way too long for a damn salad and tacos. Most likely wont be returning to this place unless they find away to speed things up.

Went here with a group of friends and the service was exceptional! We had the sliders (3) as an appetizer and they were cooked well. I had the coco Loco to drink and it was yummy! I then had the fish tacos (3). They were delicious and filling. The atmosphere was great for catching up with our friends. Will definitely be returning. At around 10 they started setting up for Salsa but we didnt stick around for that. Definitely checking that out next time.

Good food and staff. The place is usually somewhat empty when we walk by, but it seems to pick up a good bit with more of a club atmosphere some nights. Unfortunately, it took us over an hour to get it food. Everytime we would order, 15 minutes later we would be told there was no more chicken, pork, etc. Then there suddenly was and we got a dish we ordered way earlier... Bloody Marys were awesome, but not sure if Ill be back.

This is a nice establishment, however the name is deceiving., it plays a lot of of Mexican folkloric music that I do enjoy, however I wish that salsa = salsa... Im just saying. It has to do a lot with the DJ.. PLEASE Bro, salsa and merengue would be preferred. Dont play so many Mexican songs.. Thank you,

THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. It took them 30 minutes to bring us nachos. It took them 1 1/2 to bring us food. The orders were wrong. The place was half empty. We asked for compensation and they blamed it on us. Manager did nothing to help. Never coming back again.

Visiting from Houston and stopped in while walking around Deep Ellum and so glad I did because they have, hands down, the best chai latte I have ever had. This just became a must stop while in Dallas for me! Kimberly was super friendly and attentive! Will definitely be back!

I had one of the most disappointing nights in a while here... I was invited to attend your salsa night only to discover that all they play is cumbia... For 90 minutes... Either get a new dj or get Pandora... All I wanted to do was dance some salsa and bachata

Worst experience ever. 9 people for dinner. Two hours before first food came out to the first 3 people at the table. Another 35 minutes before the last person received there food. And the food was average. I hope this place goes out of business!
